Dipl 2109 Aa Institutions Of Global Governance, Purnaka De Silva Ph.D. Apr 2023

Dipl 2109 Aa Institutions Of Global Governance, Purnaka De Silva Ph.D.

Diplomacy Syllabi

The focus and aim of this Course- DIPL 2109: Institutions of Global Governance - is to understand the concept of Global Governance from the vantage point of International Organizations. Global governance, central to international relations, refers to the loose framework of global regulation - both institutional and normative - that constrains conduct and attempts to maintain order. When we speak of order, we need to specify order for whom - states, peoples, groups, or individuals. Order may denote any regular or discernible pattern of relationships that are stable over time or may additionally refer to a condition that allows certain …

Building The Bridge And Crossing It: Using Digital Media To Connect Churches With Their Local Community, Andrew Blair Farley

Doctor of Ministry

This project is designed to address the NPO statement “Churches need strategies to both engage in and measure the effectiveness of digital ministry and discipleship expressions that reflect the unique character and context of their physical gatherings.” During the discovery phase of this project, it was found that many churches want to use digital ministry methods that enhance their in-person ministry and not as a replacement for it. I have found this to be true both in my research and a pastor and pioneer in the field of church communications. The project outlined includes a website to act as a …

A Pilot Program To Address Nurse Leader Moral Distress Secondary To The Performance Evaluation Of Underperforming Personnel, Lisa Krening Apr 2023

A Pilot Program To Address Nurse Leader Moral Distress Secondary To The Performance Evaluation Of Underperforming Personnel, Lisa Krening

Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects

Problem Description: First defined in 1984, as a nurse knowing the correct course of action but perceiving barriers that constrain the action, moral distress has evolved to include challenging situations associated with moral uncertainty, moral conflict, and ethical or moral dilemmas (Campbell et al., 2016; Fourie, 2015, 2016; Jameton, 1984). While the bulk of the moral distress literature has highlighted the challenges of direct care nurses, nurse leaders also grapple with ethical dilemmas that often lead to moral distress (Edmonson, 2010; Ganz et al., 2015; Prestia et al., 2017). Additionally, research indicates that nurse leaders lack experience in navigating ethical …

The Coastal Monitor: Vol. 10 No. 1, John Tanacredi Ph.D.

The Coastal Monitor

New Year’s Day has always been, for me, a time to reflect and project into the near future. Nature’s influence on us all certainly tops my listing with several environmental concerns. For example, the frequency and intensity of hurricanes to Long Island. A decade has passed since Superstorm Sandy re-opened the “Old Inlet” on Long Island which now has mostly naturally closed. So, the new year immediately prompts me to assess the previous year’s Hurricane Ian, a Category 4 system, with winds exceeding 150 mph, which had considerable impact in Florida, and then proceeded north resulting in over 2 inches …

The Role Of Home Victimization In Preadolescents’ General Perceptions Of Trust, Abigail Seeman

Psychology Student Projects

The study explored the impact of home victimization on preadolescents’ general perceptions of trust. This exploration utilized extant data from the São Paulo Legal Socialization Study, a longitudinal study of 800 preadolescent participants who completed questionnaires assessing parental legitimacy, among other related factors. To assess the impact of home victimization on perceptions of trustworthiness, participants were split into two groups based on whether or not they had experienced assault by an adult in their home. Analysis revealed a statistically and practically significant difference across the groups regarding the belief that people care about others. This result indicated that the perception …

Pregnancy And The Effects Of Mental And Physical Support From Others, Kira M. Koenig Apr 2023

Pregnancy And The Effects Of Mental And Physical Support From Others, Kira M. Koenig

IPS/BAS 495 Undergraduate Capstone Projects

This service learning project researched and provided an online support group for women in which pregnancy, postpartum and other motherhood topics were discussed. Often women don’t have the support they need during pregnancy, especially from those that have experienced what they have. I created an online support group through Facebook and was able to reach a total of thirty-eight women. The link to this support group was shared through social media, word of mouth and discussed with my female patients. The blog included mental support, exercises for women and example meal plans.

The Silent Illness, Morgan R. Wood-Buchanan

IPS/BAS 495 Undergraduate Capstone Projects

My capstone project is all based on mental health, specifically depression. I created a blog based on my own personal story, in hopes I could reach people in our community who may be personally struggling with mental health or know someone who is struggling. The purpose of my project was to be a voice for those who feel as if they have lost theirs. Mental health is a taboo subject even though therapy has come a long way in becoming normalized. The blog is a safe place for those who feel the courage to share their story or struggles with …

Coach's Manual, Penn M. Peterson Apr 2023

Coach's Manual, Penn M. Peterson

IPS/BAS 495 Undergraduate Capstone Projects

For my capstone project, I chose to write a coach’s manual. I have coached in our district for five years now, and one of the glaring things that hindered me at times was the fact that I did not have anything to base my decisions or actions off of. When I thought about what we really needed that would benefit the most stakeholders within my district/workplace, I knew that this was it. Having a manual that sets expectations, mission statements, vision, rules, policies, contact information, etc. would greatly improve our ability to do our jobs correctly. Accountability for coaches, administrators, …

Implementing Best Practices To Improve Nurse-Patient Communication And The Ed Experience In A Small Suburban Hospital In The Northwestern U.S.: A Pilot Project, Kimberli Munn Apr 2023

Implementing Best Practices To Improve Nurse-Patient Communication And The Ed Experience In A Small Suburban Hospital In The Northwestern U.S.: A Pilot Project, Kimberli Munn

Doctor of Nursing Practice Projects

As one measure of quality of care and patient satisfaction, healthcare systems now routinely evaluate the patient experience. Nurses at every level of care, especially those in the hospital, can directly impact the outcome of that experience (American Association of Colleges of Nursing [AACN], 2011; Natsui et al., 2018). Communication with the health care team during patient visits enhances overall patient satisfaction, and research has established a clear correlation between the patient experience and improved patient outcomes and quality of care (Hermann et al., 2019, Sonis et al., 2017; Tan et al., 2013). Quality care, a high standard, reflects the …

Environmental Effects Of Fast Fashion: A Study On How Increased Knowledge May Affect Buying Behavior Of Bryant Students, Talia Vicente

Honors Projects in History and Social Sciences

The goal of this study is to determine whether there is a relationship between an increase in knowledge about the environmental effects of fast fashion and the potential impact on the future purchasing behavior of Bryant students. To this end, I conducted a survey analysis of students' purchasing behavior, including the frequency of purchasing clothes, the major brands from which they purchase clothes, and their awareness of the environmental impact of purchasing clothes. I analyzed the overall findings for both male and female students, as well as the relationship between the most frequently shopped-at brands and the frequency of purchasing …

Changing Nfl Playoff Overtime Rules To Create Equal Opportunities To Win A Game, Matthew Silvia

Honors Projects in Mathematics

The NFL has attempted to create fair overtime rules over the course of the past decade; however, this study is interested in determining what playoff overtime rule (or rules) could the NFL implement to result in outcomes where both teams have a relatively equal chance of winning a game. This study aims to find which overtime rules work best at minimizing the differences between teams who possess the ball first versus teams that kick the ball off to start an overtime period. By collecting various NFL statistics from ESPN.com and FantasyOutsiders.com, this study hopes to run multiple simulations of different …

The Effects Of Cloth & Surgical Masks On The Environment, Dana Jurgielewicz Apr 2023

The Effects Of Cloth & Surgical Masks On The Environment, Dana Jurgielewicz

Honors Projects in Science and Technology

The objective of this study is to assess the environmental effects of different types of face masks (surgical and cloth). A comparison between different mask components is analyzed and an environmental impact is produced through the OpenLCA Software. The research question for this study is: What are the effects of different types of face masks on the environment? The expected result was that surgical masks would be worse for the environment because of the high consumption usage. The results of this study suggest that cloth masks have a worse environmental impact because of their level of usage.

Effect Of Varied Macronutrient Ratios On Honey Bee Tolerance To Iapv Infection, Caitlin Lennon-Puthoff, Alex Payne, Adam Dolezal Apr 2023

Effect Of Varied Macronutrient Ratios On Honey Bee Tolerance To Iapv Infection, Caitlin Lennon-Puthoff, Alex Payne, Adam Dolezal

PRECS student projects

Honey bees are killed by Israeli acute paralysis virus (IAPV). Because this virus has no cure, it is important to lessen its impact on bees through proper nutrition. This project explores the effects of differing protein to lipid (P:L) ratios in pollen on honey bee susceptibility to this virus.

Over three trials, bees in cages were incubated for 3 days to resemble hive conditions. Two doses of IAPV (10-3 & 10-2) and a negative control were used, along with five P:L ratios (1.5, 2.5, 11.5, 16.5, & 21.5:1) and a sucrose-only diet. These treatment groups were combined …
