Common-mode current is a critical diagnostic parameter for predicting radiated electromagnetic emissions in variable-frequency drives (VFDs). At Danfoss, these measurements have traditionally been performed manually by sliding a current transformer along a mains cable—an approach that is slow, operator-dependent, and prone to inconsistent sensor positioning. As regulatory standards tighten and development cycles accelerate, the limitations of 6 this manual process create risks: longer test times, higher labor costs, and an increased likelihood of failing expensive anechoic chamber compliance tests. This project set out to design an automated measurement apparatus capable of improving repeatability, reducing operator workload, and supporting both continuous …

The Use Of Teacher-Student Check-In's And How It Affects Behavior, Cristina Doty
Symposium on Research and Creative Expression (SORCE)
Inside the classroom, personalities differ from student to student, which results in behavioral challenges for learners. The tier 2 interventions are known and used widely for individual students who are more at risk. Tier 2 interventions provide additional support for students who need more support to meet their goals socially, emotionally, and/or academically. The objective of Tier 2 is to provide students with the tools to self-govern, allowing them to move back into Tier 1. (Epperson, A, 2018). The objective of this research is the use of Positive Behavioral Intervention Strategies, PBIS, tier 2 interventions using the daily check in …
Short-Term Electricity Price Forecasting With Constrained Regressors, Mucun Sun, Li Zhang, Yifeng Gao
Short-Term Electricity Price Forecasting With Constrained Regressors, Mucun Sun, Li Zhang, Yifeng Gao
Computer Science Faculty Publications
The volatility of electricity price presents a challenge to market participants as their decision-making process are highly depend on the accuracy of price forecasts. However, there is growing empirical evidence of increasing price volatility and price spikes in electricity markets as a result of variable renewable energy generation, extreme weather events, and other factors. The distribution shift caused by spikes in electricity price data differentiates the forecasting tasks from other renewable energy sources. Moreover, the observations may be compromised by cyberattacks and thus not available in the testing phase. To this end, we propose a Similarity-Enhanced Electricity Decomposition Forecasting model …

Carotid endarterectomy (CEA) remains the gold standard for carotid revascularization, though transcarotid artery revascularization (TCAR) has emerged as a less invasive alternative. We present a 67-year-old man with prior bilateral TCAR who developed severe right internal carotid artery restenosis 14 months after the procedure. Imaging confirmed >80% stenosis due to progressive plaque burden compressing the stent. The patient underwent successful CEA with en bloc stent explant using a standard technique. Recovery was uneventful. This case demonstrates the technical feasibility and safety of surgical stent explant after TCAR and reinforces CEA as a reliable salvage strategy when stent failure or disease …

Situating Ai Within The History Of Technological Adaptation In Law, Karin Mika
Law Faculty Articles and Essays
This Article will first trace this history of technological disruption and adaptation in the law. It will then situate the current AI moment within this established pattern, arguing that AI’s capabilities create an unprecedented opportunity to accelerate a pedagogical shift from foundational structure to sophisticated substance. Further, it will explore AI's significant potential as an equalizer for multilingual students. Finally, it will address the legitimate risks of AI, concluding that a framework grounded in professional ethics and critical human oversight is the key to harnessing its benefits responsibly. The challenge is not to resist this new technology, but to adapt …

Migrants In Media: A Tri-National Study Of The United States, Trinidad & Tobago And Mexico, Courtney Butts
Migrants In Media: A Tri-National Study Of The United States, Trinidad & Tobago And Mexico, Courtney Butts
Political Science Undergraduate Theses
Media portrayals of Venezuelan immigrants1 in the United States have been studied extensively. However, less scholarly attention has addressed how countries—particularly Trinidad & Tobago and Mexico—frame and portray Venezuelan migrants in news coverage. Arguably, narratives of migrants significantly shape public understanding and influence political rhetoric and policy outcomes, as such a significant research gap exists. Through a tri-national news media comparison, this study examines narratives about Venezuelan migrants and explores how these portrayals differ in the triad of national contexts. Importantly, these three experience migration differently: the U.S. is a large receiving state Trinidad & Tobago is a small …
Narratives Of Dis-Ease: A Genre Study Of Pathography, Sylvelyn Jo A. Almanzor
Narratives Of Dis-Ease: A Genre Study Of Pathography, Sylvelyn Jo A. Almanzor
Akda: The Asian Journal of Literature, Culture, Performance
This essay establishes pathography as a distinct genre of creative nonfiction, tracing the development, form, and cultural significance of this body of literature. I have broadly defined it as narratives on personal experiences of Gabriel Marcel's "dis-ease"—covering and critiquing the human understanding and experience of sickness, pain, and grief—which has evolved from autobiographical narratives and life-writing of patients and medical professionals to a recognized form of creative nonfiction. This study will analyze the genre's structure, themes, and rhetorical strategies with consideration to cultural significance and how it negotiates the human understanding of suffering, healing, and societal attitudes toward existence and …

Bitcoin As A Hedge Against Exchange Rate Risk In Brazil: Evidence From A Garch Analysis With Monetary Policy Controls (2016–2024), Pedro Mira Pierucetti
Bitcoin As A Hedge Against Exchange Rate Risk In Brazil: Evidence From A Garch Analysis With Monetary Policy Controls (2016–2024), Pedro Mira Pierucetti
Theses & ETDs
This thesis investigates whether Bitcoin behaves as a hedge or a risk asset in Brazil under domestic and global monetary policy shocks. Using monthly data from 2016 to 2024, the analysis examines the relationship between Bitcoin returns (in BRL), the USD/BRL exchange rate, the Brazilian Selic rate, and the U.S. Federal Funds Rate. To account for volatility clustering and time-varying risk commonly observed in cryptocurrency markets, the study employs a GARCH(1,1) framework to model both conditional returns and volatility. The results provide evidence on whether Bitcoin in Brazil responds positively to currency depreciation, consistent with a hedge against exchange- rate …

Humanitarian Task Force
Sexual violence against children (SVAC) is an acknowledged concern in humanitarian contexts. In response to recent findings on the prevalence of SVAC in refugee camps in Ethiopia, coupled with low levels of disclosure and service-seeking by child/adolescent survivors, the Baobab Research Programme Consortium collaborated with humanitarian stakeholders in Ethiopia to establish mechanisms for promoting sexual violence disclosure and service uptake among young survivors in refugee settings.
This study employed a mixed-methods concurrent triangulation study design (involving a combination of service statistics, group interviews, and fieldnotes) for evaluating the feasibility of the aforementioned intervention, which specifically entailed sexual violence screening (of …

Humanitarian Task Force
Humanitarian crises expose women and girls to heightened risk of unintended pregnancy due to increased risk of sexual violence as well as disruption in access to and provision of sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) services. Unintended pregnancies in turn result in unplanned births and in contexts with restrictive abortion laws, maternal morbidity and mortality due to unsafe abortion or miscarriage. This makes innovative solutions to address unintended pregnancy that are informed by evidence and that take into account the unique circumstances of women and girls in humanitarian settings critical. Evidence-informed solutions should, for instance, consider how best to …
Service Learning In The Elementary Classroom, Jordan E. Kelly
Service Learning In The Elementary Classroom, Jordan E. Kelly
Honors Thesis
Service-Learning is an educational program in which students participate in service-related activities that correlate to academic content. This research reviews several works on Service-Learning to aid educators in developing Service-Learning Programs in Elementary Classrooms. The research was conducted through a literature review, in which published works were reviewed for connections and data to Service-Learning. This review examines connections surrounding Service-Learning, the different methods by which a Service-Learning Program can be implemented, how organizations collaborate productively, and sample Service-Learning Projects. If implemented in elementary schools, Service-Learning will have a positive impact on students' social and emotional skills, academic development, and community …
