Musical Time In Network Interaction: The Case Of Unfinished Line, Silvio Ferraz, William Teixeira
Musical Time In Network Interaction: The Case Of Unfinished Line, Silvio Ferraz, William Teixeira
Journal of Network Music and Arts
Considering recent world events, art and music could not be unmoved by the dramatic turn of directions in both the way people relate and the place of technology in their lives. An ongoing project of both the authors in writing a new piece for cello and Disklavier operated by interactions in real-time gave place to a new kind of composition, mixing written music to improvisation and replacing real-time for something we are calling remote time. This paper presents such walking of resilience, first reviewing some relevant points of view about musical interaction in real-time and the importance of synchrony for …

The Entanglement: Volumetric Music Performances In A Virtual Metaverse Environment, Damian Dziwis, Henrik Von Coler
Journal of Network Music and Arts
Telematic music performances are an established performance practice in contemporary music. Performing music pieces with geographically distributed musicians is both a technological challenge and an artistic one. These challenges and the resulting possibilities can lead to innovative aesthetic realizations. This paper presents the implementation and realization of “The Entanglement,” a telematic concert performance in a metaverse environment. The system is realized using web-based frameworks to implement a platform-independent online multi-user environment with volumetric, three- dimensional, streaming of audio and video. This allows live performance of this improvisation piece based on an algorithmic quantum computer composition within a freely explorational virtual …
Adventures In [A]Synchrony: Tools And Strategies For The Network Arts-Curious Music Educator, Seth Adams
Adventures In [A]Synchrony: Tools And Strategies For The Network Arts-Curious Music Educator, Seth Adams
Journal of Network Music and Arts
Networked Music Performance (NMP) is ensemble music mediated by a network such as the internet. NMP can be usefully divided into asynchronous and synchronous formats. Prototypical examples of the asynchronous format familiar to music educators are Eric Whitacre’s virtual choirs that began in 2009. A decade later, the virtual ensemble format exploded in popularity due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Although the format does not allow participants to interact with one another, virtual ensembles nonetheless provide ample opportunities for both musical and nonmusical benefits. Synchronous NMP is, by comparison, little known and rarely practiced by music educators. However, both types of …

Perceived Knowledge And Confidence Of Social Determinants Of Health In College And Secondary School Athletic Trainers, Lauren Redfern, Chyrsten Gessel, Elena Robinson
Journal of Sports Medicine and Allied Health Sciences: Official Journal of the Ohio Athletic Trainers Association
OBJECTIVE
For most athletes, their athletic trainer is the healthcare provider with whom they interact the most while for others, ATs are the only health care professionals they interact with. It is crucial that ATs can assess and implement strategies that account for SDH in athletes. The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between the number of years certified as an athletic trainer in the college and secondary school settings and perceived knowledge of factors and confidence in the implementation of interventions to address social determinants of health (SDH) when treating patients.

Attrition And Retention Factors Of Dual-Appointment Athletic Trainers, Elizabeth A. Starns, Mackenzie Starns
Journal of Sports Medicine and Allied Health Sciences: Official Journal of the Ohio Athletic Trainers Association
OBJECTIVE
The factors leading to athletic trainer (AT) job attrition and retention and the impact and on the profession regularly appear in athletic training literature and research. This literature and research found work-life balance, including work-family conflict, burnout, and work factors, such as hours worked and compensation, to be the primary attrition and retention factors for athletic trainers that are currently in traditional athletic training roles or have left the profession1-14. Similar to athletic trainers, research shows university faculty job attrition, regardless of specialty, is caused by work-life balance, specifically work-family conflict. However, unlike athletic trainers, faculty attrition …
The Effect Of Fatigue On Lower Extremity Joint Kinematics And Performance, Shelley Payne, Sarah Alloto, Joe Wilkins, Ashley Simons
The Effect Of Fatigue On Lower Extremity Joint Kinematics And Performance, Shelley Payne, Sarah Alloto, Joe Wilkins, Ashley Simons
Journal of Sports Medicine and Allied Health Sciences: Official Journal of the Ohio Athletic Trainers Association
OBJECTIVE
ACL injuries are multifactorial in nature meaning they can be the result of faulty biomechanics, individual genetic predisposition, or environmental factors (Alentorn- Geli et al., 2009). A focus of most healthcare professionals including physical therapists and athletic trainers includes the screening for preventable risk factors for non- contact ACL injuries. Preventable risk factors include asymmetry between a person’s limbs, decreased hamstring strength, increased muscle fatigue, decreased landing angle of hip and knee Tlexion, increased valgus landing, and lack of Tlexibility in the hip internal rotators (Brophy, 2021). Given the short and long-term negative consequences of an ACL injury, it …
Constructing Spanning Sets Of Affine Algebraic Curvature Tensors, Stephen J. Kelly
Constructing Spanning Sets Of Affine Algebraic Curvature Tensors, Stephen J. Kelly
Rose-Hulman Undergraduate Mathematics Journal
In this paper, we construct two spanning sets for the affine algebraic curvature tensors. We then prove that every 2-dimensional affine algebraic curvature tensor can be represented by a single element from either of the two spanning sets. This paper provides a means to study affine algebraic curvature tensors in a geometric and algebraic manner similar to previous studies of canonical algebraic curvature tensors.
A Note On The Involutive Concordance Invariants For Certain (1,1)-Knots, Anna Antal, Stanley Pritchard
A Note On The Involutive Concordance Invariants For Certain (1,1)-Knots, Anna Antal, Stanley Pritchard
Rose-Hulman Undergraduate Mathematics Journal
A knot K is a smooth embedding of the circle into the three-dimensional sphere; two knots are said to be concordant if they form the boundary of an annulus properly embedded into the product of the three-sphere with an interval. Heegaard Floer knot homology is an invariant of knots introduced by P. Ozsváth and Z. Szabó in the early 2000's which associates to a knot a filtered chain complex CFK(K), which improves on classical invariants of the knot. Involutive Heegaard Floer homology is a variant theory introduced in 2015 by K. Hendricks and C. Manolescu which additionally considers a chain …

Assemblies Of Parties To Multilateral Treaties And Their Normative Authority, Ilias Bantekas
Georgia Journal of International & Comparative Law
Assemblies of states parties to multilateral treaties are of a twofold nature: those that are active, entrepreneurial, and rally both the political and financial dimensions as well as the stakeholders of their underlying constitutive instrument and those that are content to merely serve as meeting mechanisms. Several assemblies have undertaken extensive funding campaigns, without which their mandate could not have been achieved. In turn, these progressive assemblies have made significant inroads in respect to transnational contracting and forging their limited international personality in such a way as to become credible entities in international relations. This model should be replicated in …

One Image, One Thousand Words? Discussing The Outer Limits Of Resorting To Visual Digital Evidence In Cases Involving International Crimes, Solon Solomon
Georgia Journal of International & Comparative Law
Visual digital evidence plays a cardinal role in international law, particularly when it comes to international criminal law and the documentation of international crimes. This Article argues that resorting to visual digital evidence in cases involving international crimes should take place with cognizance of the prejudicial bias that such pieces of evidence can exert. In that sense, echoing the general impact of digital evidence on international criminal law, as stressed in the Berkeley Protocol on Digital Open Source Investigations as well as the Leiden Guidelines on the Use of Digitally Derived Evidence, this Article discusses why international courts as well …
Constitutional Human Duties, Dr. Alona Hagay Frey
Constitutional Human Duties, Dr. Alona Hagay Frey
Georgia Journal of International & Comparative Law
Constitutional human duties are simultaneously present and absent. Though many human duties are set forth in many constitutions throughout the entire world, modern scholarship has almost entirely excluded them from legal conceptualization. Liberalism shifted the spotlight to the individual, as an autonomous independent unit, while abandoning society. Furthermore, there is a tendency to frame constitutional human duties as “constitutional interests.” This Article suggests an innovative comparative analysis of constitutional human duties. Founded on that analysis, this Article develops a novel typology through which the characteristics of constitutional human duties are examined. The implications of various constitutional duties are explored in …
