Generative artificial intelligence companies and authors of the works used to create generative artificial intelligence systems are at war in the courts over whether and to what extent using copyrighted content to train generative AI models is fair use. In this fight, copyright protection remains an essential weapon for publishers to safeguard their content. BACKGROUND AND AIMS: Perianal Crohn's disease (pCD) is a debilitating condition with a prevalence of approximately 20% in patients within 10 years of diagnosis of CD. The condition significantly impacts patient quality of life, and there remain a number of unmet needs relating to its optimal management. A global Priority Setting Partnership (PSP) was established to identify the top 10 research priorities for pCD.

METHODS: The PSP followed standard James Lind Alliance (JLA) methodology. An initial survey was circulated to gather unanswered research questions from key stakeholders. From these responses, a longlist of summary questions was formed. These questions were …

The Density Dilemma: Reconciling Energy Efficiency And Social Well-Being In Compact Housing, Adeb Ebrahim

This study examines compact housing not only in terms of urban design. From a sequential exploratory mixed-methods approach study on 120 residential units in Sana’a, we observed that there is a paradox where energy modular housing consumes 28% less energy, but social isolation increases 22%. However, this paradox is countered by the design of biophilic shared spaces (β = -0.34). This research establishes a case for more equitably accessible policies on density and proposes that high-density urban fabrics must have a “social connector” code. Efforts to support students' academic, social/emotional, personal, and future professional well-being often rely on the collaboration among educational leaders, educators, and community partners. In this study, we examine teachers' perceptions of collaboration among school counselors, principals, and teachers to enhance school culture, with a focus on collective teacher efficacy. We also provide insights for school leaders (e.g., principals, school counselors, and teachers) to implement systemic changes that promote collaboration and student success. This study is framed through the social cognitive theory, where self-efficacy shapes how educators perceive their ability to impact the learning environment and engage students. Municipal wastewater treatment plants are significant contributors to energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, particularly during secondary treatment processes. The high carbon footprint of wastewater treatment plants can be primarily attributed to two factors: direct greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 1) and energy consumption (Scope 2). Nitrous oxide released during secondary treatment has a global warming potential 273 times greater than that of carbon dioxide. Moreover, conventional nitrification/denitrification wastewater treatment plants are energy-intensive and associated with greenhouse gas emissions, yet widely implemented for their ease of operation and maintenance. This interactive presentation highlights a collaborative open pedagogy project implemented in an undergraduate vocal theatre course. The scaffolded assignment guided students through research practices and source evaluation, culminating in the creation of student-authored zines focused on vocal warmups. Students explored the history of zines as small, often hand-designed publications rooted in self-expression, community knowledge-sharing, and alternative publishing, values closely aligned with open education practices.

Rather than producing a traditional research paper, students synthesized their findings into creative zines that center voice both pedagogically and literally. Throughout the project, students engaged in discussions about open licensing, authorship, and consent, making informed …

Join us as we share findings from a recent campus-wide survey at a mid-size regional R2 university exploring the impact of course material costs on students. We asked students to provide answers on how textbook costs affect their learning experiences, choices, and successes. This session will highlight key data, student voices, and showcase opportunities for faculty to make their courses more affordable and equitable through the use of Open Educational Resources (OER) and other no-cost materials.

Undergraduate publishing is often a closed door due to paywalls, publication fees, and limited access to mentorship. The Kennesaw Journal of Undergraduate Research (KJUR) uses an open-access framework to remove these barriers and expand equitable access to scholarly publishing for students at Kennesaw State University. KJUR is free to submit to and publish in, ensuring financial constraints do not prevent students from sharing their work. The journal is operated by paid and volunteer student editors, providing mentored, hands-on experience in academic publishing. Emphasizing open pedagogy, KJUR supports student authors through developmental editing and multi-semester collaboration, guiding them through …
