Nashville Dolphins: Where Swimmers Are Built Beyond The Water, Makenzie Hendley

This doctoral capstone project was completed through a partnership with Nashville Dolphins. The Nashville Dolphins offer free swim lessons and swim team programs for children and adults with disabilities. The organization serves over 300 swimmers each season and the programs are entirely run by volunteers. The focus of this project was to assist in develop programming and water safety resources. Deliverables provided to the organization include a 10-week swim curriculum for the Little Phins program, a new safety card with the Nashville Dolphins information, and list of schools and local swim teams for potential future partnerships.

The project aimed to provide evidence-based support for the organization’s classroom strategies and improve communication of these approaches to families and staff. Key outcomes included the development of a parent-friendly, evidence-based overview of Illuminate Academy’s core strategies, highlighting their role in supporting regulation, engagement, and participation. A concise literature synthesis was created to reinforce these approaches, focusing on sensory processing, co-regulation, play, and participation. SSP offers virtual and in-person private lessons, group classes, teacher training, and a scoliosis-focused retreat. These services are designed to educate individuals with scoliosis and movement practitioners on evidence-based, functional correction movements that support daily living. This project highlights empowerment of Dr. Archer and her team through administrative tasks and empowerment of clientele through education materials. The primary deliverable of my project is a six week ‘course,’ addressing pelvic pain through evidence-based therapy practices. Other deliverables include education materials that cover an expanse of pelvic floor and pregnancy related topics. The prominent goal of this capstone project was empowerment through education.

The present study aimed to examine Arabic language teachers’ perceptions of the extent to which dimensions of cultural identity are incorporated into Arabic language curricula at Cycle Two schools. To address this objective, the researcher employed a descriptive research design and surveyed a sample of 60 Arabic language teachers (male and female). Data were collected using a structured questionnaire. Based on the findings, the study recommends enhancing the presence of cultural identity in educational curricula and stresses the importance of integrating the concept of cultural identity into Arabic language textbooks, assigning it a level of significance that reflects its importance.

Information about French cellist Lisa Cristiani (1825–1853) and her travels through Imperial Russia has mainly reached us thanks to two articles in French periodicals published around the first decade since her death. These sources prioritized the journey itself, centering the narrative on her travels rather than on her musical activities. Recent scholarship on Cristiani has expanded our previously limited knowledge about her life. Objectives Relatively few young adults with fragile X syndrome (FXS) meet the normative expectations of adulthood, although there is heterogeneity in this regard. The present study examined the preparation for the transition to adulthood experienced by young adults with FXS and their parents.

Methods Thirty-nine young adults with FXS and their primary caregiving parents participated. Those with FXS were in their last year of, or had recently left, high school or a formal transition program. Parents completed surveys about the formal transition planning process. We examined the role of the young adults’ adaptive behavior skills in transition planning.

Effects Of Velocity-Based Training On Muscular Performance In Middle-Aged And Older Adults, Bryson Hughes

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of velocity-based training (VBT) on muscular power and strength in middle-aged adults. Thirteen participants (48.9 ± 9.0 years) completed an 8-week VBT intervention performed at peak power (PP) on the chest press (CP; n = 12) and leg press (LP; n = 11). Participants trained using their individualized load at peak power (LPP) and velocity at peak power (VPP). Repeated-measures ANOVA revealed significant time effects for CP PP (p < .001, ηp² = .661), 3-repetition maximum (3-RM) (p < .001, ηp² = .722), LPP (p < .001, ηp² = .643), as well as LP 3-RM (p < .001, ηp² = .836) and LPP (p < .001, ηp² = .509). Pairwise comparisons demonstrated significant differences across all time points for CP PP (p = .001–.013), CP 3-RM (p < .001–.003), CP LPP (p < .001–.048), and LP 3-RM (p < .001). LP LPP reached significance only from pre- to post-testing (p = .006). Friedman’s test also showed significant time effects for LP PP (p < .001, W = .917), with significant changes across all time points (p = .003–.004). No significant changes in VPP were observed across the intervention. This study provides an early examination of VBT performed at PP in middle-aged adults. Although findings are limited to the current sample, results demonstrate the potential efficacy of VBT at PP for improving muscular strength and power in this population. Future studies should report force and velocity intercepts and include comparative groups to better determine the practical significance of VBT in this demographic.

This study examined the effects of different irrigation intervals (7, 14, 21, and 28 days) on the growth, yield, and quality of Rhodes grass (Chloris gayana) and common vetch (Vicia sativa L.) under field conditions in Sana'a Governorate, Yemen, during two growing seasons. A randomized complete block design with a split-plot arrangement was employed. Short irrigation intervals (7 and 14 days) significantly enhanced plant height, fresh weight, and dry matter yield in both forage species, whereas moderate water stress (21 days) increased crude protein concentration.
