This research aims to identify the implementation of metacognitive strategy to improve EFL of students’ reading comprehension of the English Department at University of Timor in an analytical exposition text. This research is Collaborative Classroom Action Research (CAR). The data were gained through field notes, students’ reading achievement and interview guide. The results showed that the implementation of metacognitive strategy improved the students’ skill in reading analytical expository text especially in determining topic sentence, main idea and supporting idea. This study aims to develop reading materials for the Sport Science Sophomores of Universitas Negeri Malang due to the unavailability of the materials. The design of her research is R and D (Research and Development) simplified from Borg and Gall design (1983). The result of preliminary study showed that the available materials were not in line with the syllabus since it still reflects the teaching of General English, while the syllabus emphasizes teaching English texts related to Sport Science. The final products of this research are ‘Student’s Book and Teacher’s manual’.

Influence Of Co-Curricular Activities On Senior Secondary School Students’ Academic Achievement In English Language In Nigeria

This paper investigates the influence of co-curricular activities on Senior Secondary School Students’ achievement in Nigeria. The variables to be considered are Press club and Literary and debating society, the involvement period, and their academic achievement. Eight out of 17 secondary schools are randomly selected with one hundred students from each school. The questionnaires for the data collection are on students’ personal data and twelve questions on press club and literary and debating society. The mock examination results show that there is a positive significant influence in co-curricular activities on senior secondary school students’ academic achievement in English.

This paper reports a study which investigated the effect of scaffolding techniques on stu dents’ writing achievement. This study is quasi-experimental research with nonrandomized control group design. The total number of participants was 36 students who were in two different groups: ex perimental group and control group. The paper reports a study which aims at exploring the effectiveness of digital photographs in helping students to achieve higher writing performance. This research uses quasi experimental de sign. The participants were two groups of Arabic Literature department of Maulana Malik Ibrahim State Islamic University, Malang which were drawn using random sampling technique. The findings indicate that the posttest result of experimental and control groups are significantly different. The findings suggest that the implementation of digital photographs in the teaching of writing helps the students gain higher scores than the students who are taught using story starters.
