The process of policy development and revision often suffers reduced prioritization, particularly when staffing levels limit dedicated expertise and the time necessary for thorough evaluation. International surveys reveal common tendencies for institutional repository policies to lack desired degrees of comprehensiveness, refinement, or consistency, creating operational uncertainty and inhibiting long-term sustainability. This presentation addresses this pervasive gap, not by offering a case study or example documentation, but by introducing a structured, adaptable framework to guide policy development and maintenance, regardless of institutional size, platform, or maturity.

Imagination is a powerful tool that allows us to turn our mundane reality into something new and exciting. My graphic novel, Nira, tells the story of two young girls who use the power of their imaginations to turn their everyday lives into extraordinary adventures. With their minds alone, they create exciting scenes in which they befriend bugs, explore mazes, and rescue a cat from the depths of the school basement. Using rounded shapes, bright colors, playful proportions, and dynamic compositions, I create a world in which viewers can be creative. Public Perception Of Equine Rabies And Its Implications For Future Education And Preventative Strategies, Kya Walton

This study examined the rabies knowledge, vaccination, and risks of exposures of horse owners/overseers across the state of Kentucky. Research was conducted to determine the need for public health educators and veterinarians to inform the public on rabies. Survey results concluded that respondents' general knowledge of rabies transmission and mortality rate was respectable, but knowledge relating to equine vaccination was comparatively lower. A weak inverse relationship was observed between general rabies knowledge and concern over an individual’s horses contracting rabies. A weak positive correlation was determined when looking into general rabies knowledge and the likelihood of vaccinating an individual’s horses. …

Approximate nearest-neighbor search is a central retrieval primitive in dense question-answering and retrieval-augmented generation systems. Existing ANN evaluation protocols typically measure recall, latency, throughput, and search-effort sensitivity under a fixed-query assumption: a query vector is submitted to an index, approximate neighbors are retrieved, and the result is compared with exact nearest-neighbour ground truth. This assumption is appropriate for conventional vector-search benchmarking, but it is less complete for multi-step, distributed, and agent-controlled retrieval pipelines in which the retrieval-facing query may be refined, recomputed, or displaced across execution steps. This Article examines the phenomenon Justice Michael P. Donnelly has termed the “dark plea.” A dark plea is a post-conviction guilty plea extracted from defendants who maintain their innocence but accept freedom over exoneration. Through the lens of State of Florida v. Lawrence K. Johnson, this Article exposes how dark pleas operate at the precise moment when newly discovered evidence threatens to unravel a conviction and expose actual innocence in a nearly two decades old wrongful conviction. Johnson’s case illustrates the coercive dynamics of this type postconviction “bargaining.” After eighteen years of incarceration, compelling DNA recantation evidence, and an appellate …

This project is a comprehensive design package for a themed entertainment experience. It is formatted similarly to how a project pitch works in the Themed Entertainment industry. This is my concept work for an immersive, interactive, themed walkthrough that takes the guest through the story of King Arthur and the wider Arthurian legend. I have done extensive tonal research, leading me to develop a narrative structure for the experience. This systematic literature review addresses the research question: How does culture affect eating disorders? It examines the role of ethnicity and culture in shaping the prevalence, symptom presentation, and treatment of eating disorders across diverse populations. Although eating disorders have traditionally been studied in Western, predominantly White populations, growing evidence suggests that cultural norms, ethnic identity, globalization, and exposure to Western ideals significantly influence both the development and expression of disordered eating behaviors. Commercial cloud platforms rely heavily on subscription models, so everyday users fall into a "cloud trap" summarized by perpetual fees, forfeited privacy, and a lack of true asset ownership. At the same time, functioning consumer electronics get discarded as e-waste when they fail to meet the hardware requirements of modern operating systems. This project presents a sustainable and cost-effective alternative to both issues by repurposing a 2017 HP Pavilion laptop into a personal cloud and media server.

Thomas Jefferson and Voltaire’s character Candide (the main character in his 1759 novella, Candide), possessed striking similarities in both their lives and their characters, and the understanding of one man is ultimately enhanced by studying the other. This thesis analyzes three of these similarities in three separate sections, which includes internal conflict, utopia, and gardening.

This doctoral capstone project examined leadership formation needs within the National Latino Evangelical Coalition and proposed the design of the Civitas Dei Institute as an auxiliary organizational structure. The study addressed the gap between increasing leadership demands placed on pastors and the lack of structured, scalable, and contextualized systems to support their development. Data was collected through semi-structured interviews, a leadership survey utilizing Likert-scale questions, and document review of existing leadership initiatives. Human heart development depends on tightly coordinated genetic programs and biomechanical cues, yet the underlying cell-microenvironment interactions remain poorly understood because the developing heart is difficult to study in utero and accurate experimental models are lacking. Recent advances in stem cell biology and three-dimensional (3D) bioprinting now allow the construction of human tissue analogues with defined structure and function. Here we show a perfusable 3D bioprinted model of the human embryonic heart tube composed of layered myocardium, cardiac jelly, and endocardium. Human induced pluripotent stem cell-derived cardiomyocytes and endothelial cells are cultured under controlled flow conditions, producing constructs with high …

The rapid integration of technology in educational settings has transformed the landscape of teaching and learning, raising questions about its impact on foundational skills such as student writing. This qualitative phenomenological study explored the perceptions of high school English/Language Arts teachers with over ten years of experience regarding technology’s influence on student writing. Guided by the Technology, Pedagogy, and Content Knowledge (TPACK) framework, semi-structured interviews were conducted to capture educators’ lived experiences and understand their perceptions of how their pedagogical, content, and technological knowledge intersect in the classroom. Background: The therapeutic alliance (TA), defined as the collaborative relationship between clinician and client, is widely recognized as a key factor influencing rehabilitation outcomes. However, within aphasia rehabilitation, its role remains underexplored and inconsistently measured

Methods: This narrative review examined peer-reviewed studies published between 1990 and 2025 that focused on adult aphasia rehabilitation and addressed the client-clinician relationship. Studies were identified through database searches, including PubMed, CINAHL, ComDisDome, EBSCO, and Google Scholar, and analyzed using thematic analysis.

Valparaiso University gives tours to massive numbers of prospective students of all ages on a yearly basis. For those interested in engineering, the solar furnace is a cool destination to showcase the specialized research done at the university; however, tour guides are not generally able to show any experiments actually taking place. In order to better impress younger audiences on the tours while still teaching them about solar power, we will develop a small solar oven to give quick demonstrations to roughly fifth through eighth grade students.
