This thesis argues that architecture is not experienced as static form, but as something constructed through movement. It reconsiders the declining drive-in cinema typology not as a destination for passive viewing, but as a spatial system where movement and perception are actively choreographed.

The project asks: how can architectural movement transform the drive-in from a static act of viewing into a dynamic, cinematic experience?

Drawing from montage theory in film, particularly the work of Sergei Eisenstein, this thesis understands meaning as something constructed through sequence (through order, duration, repetition, and rhythm). Bernard Tschumi’s translation of these ideas into architecture informs …

Purpose of Review: To review relevant medial orbital anatomy as well as the most commonly used approaches to this space. Recent Findings: The use of the endoscopic endonasal approach for access to the medial orbit, including the intraconal space, has expanded allowing for removal of previously “inoperable” pathology. Summary: Each approach has their strength when considering access to the medial orbit, the transcaruncular incision allows for fast access with limited dissection while the transpalebral approach allows for visualization of the medial orbit but also extended access to the superior and lateral orbit. Background: Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) are progressive neurodegenerative conditions where early detection is critical for timely intervention and care planning. However, current diagnostic methods are often inaccessible, costly, and delayed, especially for underserved populations. There is a growing need for scalable, noninvasive tools that can support timely diagnosis. Spontaneous speech contains rich acoustic and linguistic markers that can serve as noninvasive behavioral markers for cognitive decline. Foundation models, pretrained on large-scale audio or text data, generate high-dimensional embeddings that encode rich contextual and acoustic information.

Assessment And Mitigation Of Covid-19 Occupational Hazards Among Small Businesses In A High-Risk Community, Louis D Brown

Purpose –: This project explored COVID-19 workplace hazards and factors influencing the implementation of risk mitigation approaches among small businesses in a high-risk community.

Design/methodology/approach –: Using a novel framework, data were collected from 90 workplaces through site visits and consultations with at least one owner, manager or supervisor ("employer") and at least one non-managerial staff member ("employee"). A risk assessment and mitigation plan were prepared based on site-specific hazards; later, a follow-up visit assessed whether recommendations had been implemented and factors influencing these decisions.

Findings –: A total of 84 businesses (93.3%) implemented at least one recommendation, citing ease …

Wireless communication technologies for bioelectronic implants enable remote monitoring for diagnosis and adaptive therapeutic intervention without the constraints of wired connections. However, wireless data uplink from millimeter-scale devices deep in the body struggles to achieve low power consumption while maintaining large misalignment tolerances. Here, we report a passive wireless backscatter communication system based on magnetoelectric transducers that consumes less than 0.3 pJ/bit and achieves less than 1E-6 bit error rate at a distance of 55 mm while tolerating a misalignment of 10 mm. Cementum is a specialized mineralized tissue that covers the tooth root surface and anchors the tooth to the surrounding periodontal ligament. The cervical acellular cementum (AC) is indispensable for periodontal attachment and represents a key target for periodontal regenerative therapies. However, the developmental origin and molecular identity of AC-forming cementoblasts remain poorly understood. Here, through an integrated spatial and single-cell transcriptomic analysis, we identify AC-forming cementoblasts as a distinct population of noncanonical mineralizing cells enriched for cell-matrix organization and Wnt signaling signatures, distinguishing them from cellular cementum-forming cementoblasts localized in the apical portion. Current data suggests that the U.S. is on track to end the HIV epidemic for white people but not for Black, Latine, and other people of color. National initiatives have emphasized diversifying the workforce as part of the response to inequities in HIV outcomes, and yet the field remains staffed predominantly by white service professionals. Moreover, diversifying the workforce without broader systems change will likely be insufficient to address inequities both for professionals and for oppressed communities. Trauma exposure and posttraumatic stress (PTS) symptoms are well-documented health disparities in Latinx migrants, explaining a diverse array of physical and mental health complaints as well as role limitations for both youth and adults. Few studies have examined the influence of the migration journey on PTS in Latinx migrants. We examined the added effect of migration-related predictors, above and beyond general trauma exposure, of PTS in two samples of Latinx migrants with the broad aim of uncovering unique predictors of PTS in this high-risk population. This article explores whose voices shape music curriculum development in Germany, Ireland, and Lithuania. Drawing on document analysis and comparative policy review, it investigates whose voices are recognised, consulted, or silenced in national musiccurriculum-making. Curriculum development in each country is examined through three interconnected lenses: historical development, the processes of music curriculum design, and the structures of decision-making, while also considering how stakeholder voices are represented or marginalised within these frameworks. Findings show that all three systems rely on expert-led curriculum design framed by competency-based outcomes, yet differ in how they structure participation. Instructor self-disclosure is often promoted as a means of humanizing the classroom environment and improving learning outcomes. Though disclosure has the potential to be highly beneficial, it also carries a risk to students and learning that is often overlooked. This paper presents a point of departure perspective that instructor self-disclosure should be approached with far greater caution than most educators consider. We argue that disclosures should occur only when they are justified with a clear pedagogical purpose. Casual or spontaneous disclosures, by contrast, carry sufficient potential for unintended harm such that their risks outweigh presumed benefits to classroom rapport and …

Early-Term Abortion Bans And Sex Selection After Dobbs V Jackson, William Jergins, Xin Liang Brown

Following the 2022 US Supreme Court decision Dobbs v Jackson, many states adopted early-term abortion (ETA) bans that prohibit abortions before the age of viability and often before sex determination is technologically feasible. We analyze the effect of ETA bans on the sex ratio at birth among first-generation Chinese, Korean, and Indian (CKI) immigrants using difference-in-differences and triple differences methodolo- gies. While our estimates across higher parity children sometimes indicate a decrease in the sex ratio at birth, they are also generally small and statistically insignificant, which is consistent with continued access to sex selection under ETA bans. Liquid Fire Accelerants' Effect On Blood Detectability, Genniltza Ramirez

Five liquid fire accelerants were studied in their effects on blood detection in attempts to yield presumptive accelerant indicators to benefit fire scene investigators. The experiment involved burning different accelerant types via a 1:1 pig blood and accelerant ratio on cloth squares in trials of three, and then presumptively testing for blood using luminol. Luminol was selected for its sensitivity, subjectivity, and previous use in arson fire and thermal studies. For this study, accelerants were determined to have positive presumptive blood detection if detectable by camera for documentation. This annual review summarizes the progress of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) technologies in 2025. During this year, the growth rate of atmospheric CO2 concentrations slowed, yet anthropogenic CO2 emissions continued to rise. At the same time, the increasing frequency of severe natural disasters underscored the urgency of climate action and further intensified global efforts to advance CCUS deployment. Scientific interest in CCUS expanded markedly, with the annual number of related publications increasing by 18.5% compared with 2024, reaching 63935. Meanwhile, the total number of operational commercial CCUS facilities worldwide grew by 54%, accompanied by an approximate 25% increase …

The realization of fully autonomous Industry 4.0 environments depends on wireless networks that are not merely connected, but predictively aware—capable of anticipating channel degradation before it disrupts mission-critical operations. In dynamic industrial environments such as automated warehouses, radio frequency propagation is governed by dense metallic infrastructure, continuously moving obstacles, and frequent line-of-sight to non-line-of-sight transitions that render the channel non-stationary and spatiotemporally complex. Conventional approaches face a fundamental dichotomy: deterministic simulators such as ray-tracing and NS-3 achieve high physical fidelity but require up to 38 hours to generate a single high-resolution SINR heatmap, making real-time adaptation computationally infeasible; empirical and …
