Topogenous Orders And Closure Operators On Posets, Josef Slapal, Tom Richmond, Minani Iragi May 2024

Topogenous Orders And Closure Operators On Posets, Josef Slapal, Tom Richmond, Minani Iragi

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

We introduce the notion of topogenous orders on a poset X to be certain endomaps on X. We build on a Galois connection between endomaps and binary relations on X and study relationships between endomap properties and corresponding relational properties. In particular, we determine the topogenous orders that are in a one-to-one correspondence with (idempotent) closure operators.

Ranks Of Certain Semigroups Of Transformations With Idempotent Complement Whose Restrictions Belong To A Given Semigroup, Leyla Bugay, Ruki̇ye Sönmez, Hayrullah Ayik

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

For n ≥ 2, let Pn , In , Tn , and Sn be the partial transformation semigroup, symmetric inverse semigroup, (full) transformation semigroup, and symmetric group on the set Xn = {1, . . . , n}, respectively. In this paper, we find the ranks of certain subsemigroups of Pn , In , and Tn consisting of transformations with idempotent complement whose restrictions to the set Xm belong to the (possible) semigroup Sm, Im, Tm, or Pm for 1 ≤ m ≤ n − 1.

Approximation By Operators Involving Δh -Gould-Hopper Appell Polynomials, Bi̇lge Zehra Sergi̇ Yilmaz, Gürhan İçöz

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

The present paper deals with the approximation properties of the linear positive operators, including Δh -Gould-Hopper Appell polynomials. We investigate some theorems for convergence of the operators and their approximation degrees with the help of the classical approach, Peetre’s K-functional, Lipschitz class and Voronovskajatype theorem. In the last section of the paper, we introduce the Kantorovich form of the operators and examine the approximation degree.

Elastic Strips Along Isotropic Curves In Complex 3-Spaces, Dae Won Yoon, Zühal Küçükarslan Yüzbaşi May 2024

Elastic Strips Along Isotropic Curves In Complex 3-Spaces, Dae Won Yoon, Zühal Küçükarslan Yüzbaşi

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In this paper, we define the ruled surface in terms of the Darboux vector field of an isotropic curve in a complex 3-space, and we study the ruled surface as an elastic strip along the isotropic curve. First of all, we show that elastic strips along isotropic curves that serve critical points of the modified Sadowsky functional are characterized by three Euler-Lagrange equations. As a result, we give two conservation laws to characterize elastic strips of isotropic curves in complex 3-space and explain an isotropic helix in terms of the force vector. Finally, we give some examples to illustrate elastic …

Gradient Almost Yamabe Solitons Immersed Into A Riemannian Warped Productmanifold, Willian Tokura, Levi Adriano, Elismar Batista, Adriano Bezerra

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

The purpose of this article is to study the geometry of gradient almost Yamabe solitons immersed in warped product manifolds I ×f Mn whose potential is given by the height function from the immersion. First, we present some geometric rigidity on compact solitons due to a curvature condition on the warped product manifold. In the sequel, we investigate conditions for the existence of totally geodesic, totally umbilical, and minimal solitons. Furthermore, in the scope of constant angle immersions, a classification of rotational gradient almost Yamabe solitons immersed in R ×f Rn is also made.

A Note On Hybrid Hyper Leonardo Numbers, Elen Viviani Pereira Spreafico, Paula Maria Machado Cruz Catarino May 2024

A Note On Hybrid Hyper Leonardo Numbers, Elen Viviani Pereira Spreafico, Paula Maria Machado Cruz Catarino

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

Recently, many studies have been devoted to extending particular sets of integers to other special sets, such as complex, dual, hyperbolic, and hybrid numbers. In this study, we define a new generalization of the Leonardo sequence consisting of the hybrid hyper-Leonardo numbers. This sequence of numbers is an extension of the hyper Leonardo numbers in the hybrid set. We investigate some algebraic properties of this sequence, the generating function, and the Binet formula related to this type of sequence.

Generalizations Of Zassenhaus Lemma And Jordan-Hölder Theorem For 2−Crossed Modules, Seli̇m Çeti̇n May 2024

Generalizations Of Zassenhaus Lemma And Jordan-Hölder Theorem For 2−Crossed Modules, Seli̇m Çeti̇n

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

We present a comprehensive generalization of the Zassenhaus Lemma, the Scherier Refinement Theorem, and the Jordan-Hölder Theorem, extending their applicability to both crossed modules and 2−crossed modules. It is discovered that the previously established normality conditions are insufficient for forming quotient objects of 2−subcrossed modules, as demonstrated through an illustrative example, and these conditions are rigorously revised to allow these generalizations. These new conditions now yield results that are categorically accurate. Additionally, the study has led to the derivation of several supplementary results, including isomorphism theorems for 2−crossed modules.

Some New Results On Generalized Hyers-Ulam Stability In Modular Function Spaces, Mozhgan Taliman, Mahdi Azhini, Shahram Rezapour

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

In this work, we present a new weighted method for proving the generalized Hyers-Ulam stability for nonlinear Volterra integral equations in modular spaces. Using the same technique, we also prove the generalized Hyers- Ulam stability for nonlinear functional equations under Δ2 conditions. Fixed-point theorems in modular spaces form the foundation of our main conclusions.

On The Dual Pseudo-Spherical Elastic Curves, Gözde Özkan Tükel, Ahmet Yücesan May 2024

On The Dual Pseudo-Spherical Elastic Curves, Gözde Özkan Tükel, Ahmet Yücesan

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

We investigate a dual bending energy functional that operates on the dual pseudo-sphere in dual Lorentzian space. For a nonnull dual curve on the dual pseudo-sphere to be considered elastic, it must satisfy the conditions of a dual Euler-Lagrange equation. To solve this problem, we use Jacobi elliptic functions to approach the real part and the integral factors method to solve the dual part. Using E. Study mapping, we examine situations where every timelike or spacelike dual elastic curve on the dual pseudo-sphere matches an elastic strip with a suitable base curve in Minkowski 3-space.

Alternative Solution To The Fractional Differential Equation With Recurrence Relationship, Luciano L. Luque, Gustavo Abel Dorrego May 2024

Alternative Solution To The Fractional Differential Equation With Recurrence Relationship, Luciano L. Luque, Gustavo Abel Dorrego

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

A different solution from the one already known for sequential fractional differential equations with recurrence relation is proposed. This solution involves a Mittag-Leffler type function, which satisfies a recurrence property compatible with the behavior of sequential fractional differential equations with recurrence relation.

A Study Of The Scattering Analysis Of The Multiplicative Sturm-Liouville Problem, Güler Başak Öznur, Güher Gülçehre Özbey, Yelda Aygar Küçükevci̇li̇oğlu, Rabia Aktaş Karaman

Turkish Journal of Mathematics

The main purpose of this study is to examine the scattering analysis of a multiplicative Sturm-Liouville boundary value problem. Firstly, we find the Jost solution of this problem and give the Jost function to construct the scattering function of the problem. Secondly, we obtain asymptotic equations for Jost solution and investigate some properties of the Jost function. Moreover, we present other solutions of the problem by giving the relations between these solutions and Jost solution. Finally, we define the scattering function of this problem by using the Jost function and examine the basic properties of the scattering function.

Administrative Reliance, Haiyun Damon-Feng May 2024

Administrative Reliance, Haiyun Damon-Feng

Articles

Presidential regime change and the federal policy shifts that accompany it raise significant questions concerning continuity, stability, and governance in the administrative state. Presidential policymaking through the administrative state may generate serious reliance interests recognized under administrative law (what this Article calls “administrative reliance”), which agencies must consider prior to enacting policy change. Administrative reliance has developed into a robust form of judicial review over agency action. Administrative reliance has been invoked in highly politicized contexts, such as immigration law, to challenge a sitting administration’s termination of a prior administration’s policies. Despite its powerful and consequential effects, the doctrine of …

Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research

Flakes are products that are generally made from cereals. In this study, we are interested to use black soybean (Glycine soja (L) Merrit) and bangle (Zingiber purpureum Roxb.) as flakes ingredients. Black soybeans have high antioxidant components, while bangle contains high antioxidant and fiber components, which enables it to capture free radicals. This study aimed to find the most favorable formula with good physical, chemical, and organoleptic characteristics, which also has the highest antioxidant activity. We used the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method and the variation of formulation used was the ratio of black soybean flour to bangle …

BACKGROUND & AIMS: The Global Leadership Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) approach to malnutrition diagnosis is based on assessment of three phenotypic (weight loss, low body mass index, and reduced skeletal muscle mass) and two etiologic (reduced food intake/assimilation and disease burden/inflammation) criteria, with diagnosis confirmed by fulfillment of any combination of at least one phenotypic and at least one etiologic criterion. The original GLIM description provided limited guidance regarding assessment of inflammation and this has been a factor impeding further implementation of the GLIM criteria. We now seek to provide practical guidance for assessment of inflammation in support of the …

Bilateral Asymmetry In The First Metacarpal: The Influence Of Handedness In Humans And Non-Human Primates, Lucyna A. Bowland

Graduate Theses and Dissertations

Muscle attachment sites (entheses) are often used to infer soft tissue anatomy and reconstruct behaviors within skeletal populations, but there remains a significant debate about whether and to what degree muscle use is accurately reflected in bony morphology. One of the most difficult problems in establishing the relationship between variation in muscle use and entheseal development is the inability to exclude a variety of external factors thought to influence enthesis development, including age, sex, body mass, and activity patterns. One way around this is to take advantage of the fact that humans are handed (preferentially using one hand over another, …

The Business Of Abortion: Access To Capital Post Dobbs, Itay Ravid, Jonathan Zandberg May 2024

The Business Of Abortion: Access To Capital Post Dobbs, Itay Ravid, Jonathan Zandberg

UC Law Journal

Access to credit—that is, the ability to receive financial leverage that could help jump-start businesses—is one of the most significant barriers preventing millions of American women from opening new businesses. Congress has attempted to address this issue since the 1970s, with legislation like the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA). Nevertheless, studies continue to show a persistent gender gap in access to credit. Scholars have offered a host of explanations for this gap, focusing on both the supply and demand sides of the equation.

This Article contributes to this growing scholarly exploration by offering a new, overlooked explanation for this gap: …

Big Capital & The Carceral State, Laura I. Appleman May 2024

Big Capital & The Carceral State, Laura I. Appleman

UC Law Journal

Who is accountable for the imposition of punishment in our carceral system? The answer used to be much simpler, as we held local, state, and federal government actors responsible. In recent decades, however, our correctional system has become increasingly privatized, with deeply troubling results. All aspects of the carceral state—whether prisons, jails, juvenile detention, rehabilitation, forensic hospitals, bail, or electronic monitoring—have dramatically increased their use of privatized correctional services.

With this new world of privatized corrections, we frequently don’t know whom can be held accountable when wrongdoing occurs. The bulk of our correctional services are now provided by complicated web …

Torn Between The Two: Practicing Law Or Religion, Amna Qamer

UC Law Journal

United States courts have long struggled to define the intersection of public institutions and religious practices. Though higher education institutions aim to enrich their campuses with diverse communities, they often fail to cultivate an inclusive culture for them. One minority community that has long faced experiences of exclusion is Muslim law students.

According to the Pew Research Center, Islam is the fastest-growing religion worldwide. Despite their growing presence, Muslims remain a minority and face exorbitant levels of Islamophobia. Due to these issues, law schools lack familiarity with Muslim practices and are hesitant to learn, making it challenging for Muslim students …

Engineering Silicon Metalenses In Wide Field Revers-Telephoto Optical Systems For Long-Wave Infrared Thermal Imaging, Alfred Anson Moore

Graduate Theses - Physics and Optical Engineering

A novel optical system designed to image light emitted from a CO 2 laser (10.6 μm) is presented here. This system utilizes a positive conventional lens and a negative all silicon metalens. Demonstrated here is the ability of metalenses to replace a combination of optical elements to produce more compact and light-weight optical systems. It also shows how metalenses can replace comparatively expensive custom-manufactured lenses. Several systems that utilize meta-surfaces are explored, including positive and negative metalenses, a meta-corrector, a metalens doublet imaging system that corrects for 0 th -order images overlapping 1 st -order images, and several telephoto optical …

Season Of Grazing Interacts With Soil Texture, Selecting For Associations Of Biocrust Morphogroups, Lea A. Condon, Roger Rosentreter, Kari E. Veblen, Peter S. Coates

Biology Faculty Publications and Presentations

Livestock grazing, a widespread land use in semi-arid systems, is often placed in opposition to the perpetuation of biological soil crusts (“biocrusts”: lichens, mosses, and algal crusts including cyanobacteria) that live on the soil surface and provide ecosystem functions. The composition of biocrusts and vascular plants varies with climate, soils, and disturbance. In general, ruderal mosses and light algal crusts make up greater proportions of biocrusts in the presence of disturbance, although morphogroups of biocrusts respond differently to various disturbances. It is unknown if there are scenarios under which grazing can occur and ruderal components of biocrust could be maintained. …

Oceans, vast reservoirs of abundant fish and marine life, exhibit varying exploitation and utilisation potential across space and time. A comprehensive understanding of the complex interaction between the environment, biology, and fish movements is crucial for accurately predicting fishing grounds, a key prerequisite for sustainable fisheries. The application of remote sensing technology has significantly enhanced the predictive capabilities on fisheries. It can portray environmental variables linked to productivity across the ocean, effectively identifying potential fishing grounds. Fishing grounds around the world are often found along current boundaries, upwelling zones, eddies, continental shelves, and reef banks. Oceanic fronts typically mark these …

The continual emergence of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) variants has necessitated the development of broad cross-reactive vaccines. Recent findings suggest that enhanced antigen presentation could lead to cross-reactive humoral responses against the emerging variants. Toward enhancing the antigen presentation to dendritic cells (DCs), we developed a novel shikimoylated mannose receptor targeting lipid nanoparticle (SMART-LNP) system that could effectively deliver mRNAs into DCs. To improve the translation of mRNA, we developed spike domain-based trimeric S1 (TS1) mRNA with optimized codon sequence, base modification, and engineered 5′ and 3′ UTRs. In a mouse model, SMART-LNP-TS1 vaccine could elicit robust …
