In some scanning printers one possible image quality issues is dark light zone banding, where regions whose intended tone is constant smoothly (rather than abruptly) oscillate in lightness, with a period equal to the media advance. The causes behind it can differ and depend on the type of ink and substrate. For some types of inks, drying can also play a crucial role. The printing process must be robust against dot-placement variations, including those due to variations in media advance, and ink-media interactions. The ink on media interaction in particular can also be correlated to the drying performance, to have …

Humans can predict when someone is about to say something profane by recognizing various social cues. Utilizing machine learning algorithms, this solution can mimic human prediction and provide a percentage of confidence on when a profane incident will occur.

Some important key phrases include:

  • Censorship event: a point in time where the system activates a mechanism where the profane word is not heard.
  • Statistical confidence: an output percentage that the neural network provides to decide on whether to execute a censorship event.
  • Natural Language Processing: a way for the system to mimic how a human understands communication via words or …

An Adaptive Distance-Based Positioning And Power Saving Mechanism For Pc-Iot Module, Hp Inc

Defensive Publications Series

LTE Cat-M1 is a Low-Power, Wide-Area Network (LP-WAN) designed specifically for purpose-built devices (like trackers) that transmit small to medium amounts of data over wide ranges.

While implementing the LTE Cat-M1 into the laptop, it would periodically report the position and device status to the cloud server even the laptop is in power save mode (S4/S5) without OS operation.

In this disclosure, we are going to further enhance the low power feature, minimize the total amount of data transfer (within a fixed period), and further enhance the trajectory accuracy of Cat-M1 module in the laptop.

What Does Ubuntu Tell Us About What It Means To Be Human? A Journey Towards Ubuntu’S Theology And Anthropology, Jean D'Amour Dusengmuremyi May 2024

What Does Ubuntu Tell Us About What It Means To Be Human? A Journey Towards Ubuntu’S Theology And Anthropology, Jean D'Amour Dusengmuremyi

School of Theology and Seminary Graduate Papers/Theses

This paper explores the intersection between Ubuntu, contextual social anthropology, and some major topics of systematic theology. In particular, it develops an African model of personhood, making relationship and interdependence the primary constituents of what is human. If developed as a model for the unity and diversity of the Trinity, Ubuntu can help one see how being drawn into the Trinitarian communion could help combat the harmful effects of the modern notion of individualistic personhood by showing that the beauty of unity in diversity leads to greater flourishing of individuals and their communities.

The Rubidium Magneto-Optical Trap: Designing A Robust System For Measurement & Control, Thomas Melody

Honors Program Theses and Projects

This thesis is a culmination of our efforts to construct a robust and flexible opto-mechanical system to fully deliver and control all of the parameters related to the required laser wavelength, polarization, power, beam size, and directionality for both the pump and the re-pump laser beams, delivered from two different lasers, necessary for neutral-atom laser trapping and cooling. This is an extension of the neutral Rubidium Magneto-Optical Trap (MOT) at BSU which afford a macroscopic scale collection of cold atoms where the effective governing laws of physics are quantum in nature rather than classical. My predecessors had done work on …

The goal can be defined as designing an apparatus that will adequately clean the styli with an automated process. Contaminants of these styli that must be removed are materials such as dust, metal shavings, and oils. The team was tasked with creating a design that can be productized and is compatible with different probe types and sizes. The apparatus was …

Self-Noise Reduction For Hydrophone Arrays - Geometric Approach, Jackson Eisen, Seth Cordeiro, Eli Alves, Chris Guerriero May 2024

Self-Noise Reduction For Hydrophone Arrays - Geometric Approach, Jackson Eisen, Seth Cordeiro, Eli Alves, Chris Guerriero

Mechanical Engineering Capstone Design Projects

The scenario is a vertically oriented hydrophone array in the ocean. For the purposes of the research and development completed, the hydrophones are treated as spheres. The issue this project is meant to address is system vibration due to oscillatory drag known as vortex shedding. This vibration of the system creates noise, which is then picked up by the hydrophones, distorting the data. To obtain clean, precise data from the hydrophones it is essential to remove this data distortion. The approach taken with this year’s work was to improve the hydrodynamics of the system to reduce the opportunity for the …
