Development Of A Multi-Target Pharmacophore-Based Virtual Screening Agent Against Covid-19, Nashwa A. Ibrahim, Ahmed M. Gouda, Hany A. M. El-Sherief

Al-Mustaqbal Journal of Pharmaceutical and Medical Sciences

The worldwide outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic compelled scientists to develop new, highly effective therapeutic approaches to fight it. Multitarget drugs have been proven to be effective in managing complex disorders. But designing multitarget drugs is a great challenge. In this study, to prevent a lack of efficacy due to viral mutation escape, a multi-target agent against the COVID-19 virus was discovered. As crucial targets, RNA-dependent RNA polymerase (RdRp), COVID-19 main protease (Mpro), and SARS-CoV-2 Nsp15 were selected. A pharmacophore model was developed using the native ligands of the chosen targets. This model was used to screen the ZINC Drug …

Prenatal Alcohol Exposure Induces Anatomical Changes In The Mouse Somatosensory Cortex., Zahra Saad Siddiqui

Dartmouth College Master’s Theses

Atypical tactile responses are implicated in Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). Our lab reported diminished tactile sensitivity in young adolescent mice with a history of prenatal alcohol exposure (PAE). Here, I employed immunohistochemistry to investigate the anatomical correlates of altered tactile sensitivity observed in mice with PAE. Using our 3-day binge paradigm, I examined changes in the distribution pattern of pre- (thalamocortical afferents) and postsynaptic (pyramidal neurons) partners involved in processing tactile information in the SSC of Postnatal day (P) 7 mice. In rodents, tactile information is relayed somatotopically to the SSC via TC afferents expressing vesicular glutamate transporter 2 …

Business Process Anomaly Detection And Root Cause Analysis Using Blstm-Vae With Attention, Yasser Ismail, Eman El-Aziz, Radwa Fathalla, Mohamed Shaheen

Faculty Publications

Detecting anomalous executions in business process data is crucial for safeguarding the efficiency and success of an organization. Unsupervised approaches are commonly used for business process anomaly detection because of the scarcity of labeled anomaly data. However, these approaches often encounter a notable decline in performance because they lack prior knowledge about the anomalies. Additionally, most of them do not perform root cause analysis on the detected anomalies. This study proposes a variational autoencoder-based approach to overcome the performance limitations of existing unsupervised methods and determine the root causes of the detected anomalies. The learning of the variational autoencoder from …

Reconfigurable Modular Soft Robots With Modulating Stiffness And Versatile Task Capabilities, Joshua Knospler, Wei Xue, Mitja Trkov

Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering Departmental Research

Soft robots have revolutionized machine interactions with humans and the environment to enable safe operations. The fixed morphology of these soft robots dictates their mechanical performance, including strength and stiffness, which limits their task range and applications. Proposed here are modular, reconfigurable soft robots with the capabilities of changing their morphology and adjusting their stiffness to perform versatile object handling and planar or spatial operational tasks. The reconfiguration and tunable interconnectivity between the elemental soft, pneumatically driven actuation units is made possible through integrated permanent magnets with coils. The proposed concept of attaching/detaching actuators enables these robots to be easily …

Teacher Salary Raises And Turnover: Evidence From The First Year Of The Arkansas Learns Act, Gema Zamarro, Andrew Camp, Josh Mcgee, Taylor Wilson, Miranda Vernon

Education Reform Faculty and Graduate Students Publications

Attracting and retaining high-quality teachers is a pressing policy concern. Increasing teacher salaries and creating more attractive compensation packages are often proposed as a potential solution. Signed into law in March 2023, the LEARNS Act increased Arkansas's minimum teacher salary from $36,000 to $50,000, guaranteed all teachers a minimum raise of $2,000, and added flexibility allowing school districts to deviate from seniority-based traditional salary schedules. To study school districts’ adjustments to the new legislation, we collected information about districts' teacher compensation policies one year before and the first year of implementation. We also integrated this data with teachers' administrative records …

Impacts Of Dam Construction On Hydro-Geomorphic Alteration In The Rio Coca, Richard Allen Lytle Iii

Geography Undergraduate Senior Theses

Researchers have quantified the hydrologic, sedimentologic, and geomorphic effects of dams extensively in the past century. Many of these studies have focused on dams in the United States and Europe, yet the rising dam construction in low latitude areas necessitates further research into the effects of these dams on the rivers they harness. This investigation aims to discover how the hydrologic, sedimentologic, and geomorphic effects of dams differ in low latitudes, specifically in high elevation areas. We use the Coca Codo Sinclair Dam on the Río Coca in Napo, Ecuador, as our study site. We employ a multipronged methodology using …

CSMD1 (Cub and Sushi Multiple Domains 1) is a well-recognized regulator of the complement cascade, an important component of the innate immune response. CSMD1 is highly expressed in the central nervous system (CNS) where emergent functions of the complement pathway modulate neural development and synaptic activity. While a genetic risk factor for neuropsychiatric disorders, the role of CSMD1 in neurodevelopmental disorders is unclear. Through international variant sharing, we identified inherited biallelic CSMD1 variants in eight individuals from six families of diverse ancestry who present with global developmental delay, intellectual disability, microcephaly, and polymicrogyria. We modeled CSMD1 loss-of-function (LOF) pathogenesis in …

3rd Sbs International Conference 2025: Innovation And Disruption: Business Success Through Ai, School Of Business Studies (Sbs)

Conference Proceedings

From the time that Clayton Christensen (1997) highlighted the concept of disruption due to innovation, and its impact on businesses and economies, practitioners and researchers have diverted their attention to the evil it casts and the opportunities it presents. Innovations and improvements in technologies have more often than not resulted in disruption of business models prevalent at that time. The three industrial revolutions have marked definitive shifts in performance and perspectives, and now the world awaits the outcome of the industrial revolution 4.0. Disruptions do not come only from revolutions. This is evident from the very recent incidence of the …

Episodic Satellite-Derived Depth Change From A Single Model Based On “Stacking” Multi-Temporal Images, Kim Lowell, Yuri Rzhanov

Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping

The output of the combination of “complete coverage” remote sensing imagery and geographically sparser high-quality bathymetric data – usually LiDAR – to produce wall-to-wall bathymetric maps is known as “satellite-derived bathymetry” or simply SDB. Considerable effort continues to be made to improve SDB techniques and define where they produce the most accurate maps. Most efforts are focused on producing SDB at a single time. Research on estimating “satellite-derived depth change” (SDDC) is much more limited. Where it has been studied, the general approach is to produce and apply separate models for t1 and t2 using time-appropriate imagery and LiDAR data. …
