Brace root architecture is a critical determinant of maize's stalk anchorage and nutrition uptake, influencing root lodging resistance, stress tolerance, and plant growth. To identify the key microRNAs (miRNAs) in control of maize brace root growth, we performed small RNA sequencing using brace root samples at emergence and growth stages. We focused on the genetic modulation of brace root development in maize through manipulation of miR390 and its downstream regulated (). In the present study, miR167, miR166, miR172, and miR390 were identified to be involved in maize brace root growth in inbred line B73. Utilizing short tandem target mimic (STTM) …

Examining Psychosocial Stressors Among African American Women With Postpartum Depression, Audrey Rose Morris Jun 2024

Examining Psychosocial Stressors Among African American Women With Postpartum Depression, Audrey Rose Morris

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Psychosocial stressors are among the causative factors of postpartum depression (PPD) in African American women. This study was a qualitative meta-analysis examining the psychosocial stressors that contribute to PPD among African American women. The aim was to identify the psychosocial stressors among African American women with PPD by examining existing literature and identifying common themes. The integrative model (IM) by Fishbein and Yzer assisted in understanding the significance of psychosocial stressors in African American women with PPD. Thematic analysis was used to generate new, more substantive meanings than those taken from individual investigations. Ten research studies were selected and examined …

Manufacturing systems have recently witnessed a shift from the widely adopted automated systems seen throughout industry. The evolution of Industry 4.0 or Smart Manufacturing has led to the introduction of more autonomous systems focused on fault tolerant and customized production. These systems are required to utilize multimodal data such as machine status, sensory data, and domain knowledge for complex decision making processes. This level of intelligence can allow manufacturing systems to keep up with the ever-changing markets and intricate supply chain. Current manufacturing lines lack these capabilities and fall short of utilizing all generated data. This paper delves into the …

Comprehensive Review Of The Peripheral Neuropathy, A Debilitating Condition, Lovya Ahuja, Christy Seban Thomas, Aaron Rolf Lobo, Abhik Sangwan, Y. Lakshmisha Rao

Manipal Journal of Medical Sciences

Peripheral neuropathy is a common and debilitating condition, impacting between 2-7% of the population, with prevalence increasing significantly after the age fifty. While the cause of peripheral neuropathy remains unknown in 25% to 46% of cases (idiopathic), this occurrence is more frequent in older individuals. Peripheral neuropathy encompasses a range of conditions resulting from damage to any part of the peripheral nervous system. Histopathological analysis of nerve biopsies is diagnostically important for certain peripheral neuropathy patients. Suspected peripheral neuropathy requires a comprehensive patient history and physical examination to establish a differential diagnosis.
