Background/objectives: Quality improvement (QI) is widely used in global health to improve patient outcomes, reduce costs, and strengthen service delivery. The Texas Children's Global Health Network (TCGHN) includes nine independent non-governmental organizations supporting healthcare in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), with pediatric HIV clinical centers of excellence in six countries in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA), supported technically by Baylor College of Medicine. We describe the development of a virtual QI Community of Practice (QICoP) to connect geographically dispersed teams and strengthen local QI capacity.

Neural control of innate immunity must balance restraint of basal immune activity with rapid activation upon pathogen encounter. Glutamate, the primary excitatory neurotransmitter in the nervous system, has been implicated in several neurological disorders associated with inflammation, suggesting a potential link to immune regulation. In this oral history interview conducted on June 2, 2026, Logan Dovalina interviews Vernon Weckbacher (born 1956 in Wadsworth, Ohio), a longtime Rio Grande Valley resident and former museum professional. Weckbacher recounts his family’s relocation to Mercedes, Texas, in 1970 at age 14, his high school and college years at Pan American University (BFA in Art, minor in Geology), and his 26-year career at the McAllen International Museum (now IMAS), where he worked on exhibits and notably helped build the Mexican folk art collection through acquisitions in Oaxaca and Michoacán.

Language barriers remain a significant obstacle to natural human communication, limiting access to healthcare, business, travel, and daily social interaction for billions of people worldwide. Existing translation solutions such as smartphone applications and earpiece devices address the functional problem of converting words between languages but fail to preserve the speaker’s voice identity, require hands-on interaction, or depend on proprietary device ecosystems. These limitations disrupt the natural flow of conversation and reduce the human quality of cross-lingual communication.

There is a dearth of information on the physical aspects of the Double Empathy Problem which is the bidirectional challenge of shared empathy and understanding between autistic and neurotypical individuals. Storytelling has been shown as means to facilitate empathy between storytellers and listeners in both neurotypical and autistic populations through behavioral research. Functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) is a neuroimaging technique used to evaluate the hemodynamic response in the cortex and can be used to compare hemodynamic responses across multiple individuals (i.e., hyperscanning). Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) is an economically damaging invasive pest to global vegetable production. Current management strategies rely heavily on insecticides, but increasing levels of resistance raise sustainability concerns. Therefore, strengthening integrated pest management (IPM) programs requires enhancing biocontrol through improved predator-pest interactions. Despite the well-established relevance of functional response modulation by multiple environmental factors, limited research has explored how plant traits and prey life stages interact to influence the efficiency of generalist predators in vegetable systems. • Xi Jinping has played a critical role in the Chinese Navy’s rapid transformation into a large, technologically advanced sea service capable of conducting an expanding catalog of maritime operations, from the littorals of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) to the Atlantic Ocean.
• Since assuming power in November 2012, Xi Jinping has participated in at least 15 engagements with the People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN). He has inspected multiple PLAN units, including the Navy’s two nuclear submarine units; attended the commissioning of new naval vessels; visited the PLAN headquarters; and presided over two major fleet reviews.

Source code security auditing is essential before software release in order to identify programming faults that may lead to vulnerabilities and functional failures. In this paper, we present a structured security assessment of the Windows App SDK by integrating multiple static analysis tools with a context-aware and disagreement-aware Large Language Model (LLM) interpretation layer. Although static analyzers are effective in reporting potential weaknesses, their raw outputs often contain redundant alerts, limited contextual explanation, and inconsistent severity assignments. Examination Of Gastrointestinal Visceral Sensitivity In The Maintenance Of Restrictive Eating Disorders, Kendall N. Poovey

Aversive conditioning theories of restrictive eating disorders propose that gastrointestinal (GI) visceral sensitivity (i.e., hypervigilant monitoring and worry about GI sensations) is implicated in the maintenance of restrictive eating disorders (i.e., anorexia nervosa [AN], atypical anorexia nervosa [AAN], and avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder [ARFID]). Specifically, a negative reinforcement process is posited in which disordered eating behaviors (e.g., restriction, purging) help to mitigate or avoid GI-related distress, and are thereby reinforced. However, this theorized process has yet to be tested. Human settlement patterns have significant implications for the natural environment, including freshwater lakes. People are attracted to areas with abundant lakes. However, dense human settlement near lakes can have adverse impacts on lakes by reducing forest cover, increasing nutrient loads, decreasing aquatic vegetation, and introducing invasive species. In addition, dense human settlement near lakes increases the health risks associated with cyanobacteria (also known as “blue-green algae”) blooms.

In this brief, a multi-disciplinary team of researchers focuses on the interaction between human development and forest land near lakes across ten selected U.S. counties and on the limitations of remote satellite imagery …
