Soil salinity is a major abiotic stress affecting over 20% of cultivated and 33% of irrigated lands worldwide, significantly limiting crop productivity and nutrient biosynthesis. Vitamin C and folate are crucial antioxidants in plant stress tolerance and human nutrition; however, their regulation under salt stress remains unclear, particularly in leafy vegetables. This study evaluated the effects of different salinity levels (0, 50, 150, 250, and 350 mM NaCl) on physiological traits, antioxidant activity, vitamin C and folate accumulation, and the expression of related biosynthetic genes in spinach (Spinacia oleracea L.). Grape (Vitis vinifera L.) is an economically important fruit that is both consumed fresh from the vine and used in the production of raisins, wine, and vinegar. One of the main factors limiting grape production is gray mold, caused by the fungal pathogen Botrytis cinerea. Background: Children undergoing cancer treatment experience a range of treatment-related toxicities that significantly affect quality of life and adherence to therapy. Current methods for symptom reporting rely heavily on clinician interpretation of caregiver or child verbal reports, which can result in incomplete or inaccurate records. The Pediatric Patient-Reported Outcomes version of the Common Terminology Criteria for Adverse Events (Pediatric PRO-CTCAE; National Cancer Institute) provides a validated mechanism for direct symptom reporting by children and caregivers, yet its traditional administration and preselection of questions limit the breadth of symptom capture.

Biomass pyrolysis is a thermochemical process that converts waste into fuel. The use of zeolite catalysts can enhance efficiency by accelerating biomass decomposition. To demonstrate its effect, thermal simulations were conducted using ANSYS Thermal Transient to analyze temperature distribution, reaction rates, and catalyst effectiveness in the pyrolysis process. Climate change is increasing the frequency and severity of extreme weather events, yet the social consequences of climate change attributable impacts remain relatively underexplored. This dissertation examines whether flooding attributable to climate change was associated with distinct post-disaster recovery outcomes following Hurricane Harvey in Harris County, Texas. To explore this link, parcel-level flood model outputs are integrated with Harris County Appraisal District parcel data and OpenFEMA records on tract-level flood insurance policies and post-Harvey aid. This report details South Carolina’s public school administrator workforce for the 2024–25 academic year. The analysis draws on statewide data to examine the demographic characteristics of South Carolina’s principal and assistant principal workforce. Findings are based on data from 1,385 principals and 2,351 assistant principals employed in South Carolina public schools in 2024–25. The report also incorporates data from previous years to track longitudinal trends, offering insight into workforce patterns. These f indings can support data-informed strategies to strengthen administrator recruitment and retention, which in turn may contribute to broader efforts to improve the stability of South Carolina’s educator workforce.

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of black soldier fly larvae meal (BSFLM), fed with or without a microbial probiotic and multi-enzyme supplement (MPE), on growth performance and carcass characteristics of broiler chickens from 1 to 38 days of age. Purpose: To develop and report the psychometric properties of a comprehensive scale designed to measure stereotypes and attitudes of the general population towards people with Parkinson’s disease (PwP).

Methods: The development and analysis of the Parkinson's Disease Stigma Perception scale (PDSP) included four phases: 1) literature review, 2) item development, 3) tests of validity and reliability, and 4) dissemination of a preliminary version. Internal consistency was assessed using Cronbach's alpha, exploratory factor analysis (EFA) to explore underlying structures, and confirmatory factor analysis to test the model's fit.

As these efforts succeed, institutions face the parallel challenge of meeting an evolving student body's broader and more complex healthcare needs. This article highlights how student health insurance is a critical need that may be unmet by institutions traditionally designed for young, healthy, able-bodied students. The Employment Situation Of Veterans: April 2026, Institute For Veterans And Military Families At Syracuse University

Institute for Veterans and Military Families

The April 2026 employment report shows veteran unemployment declined to 3.6%, down from 3.9% in March, with post‑9/11 veterans improving to 4.0%. Overall U.S. unemployment remained stable at 4.3%, while job growth occurred in healthcare, transportation, and retail. Younger veterans faced higher unemployment, especially ages 18–24 (12.8%) and 25–34 (8.1%), compared to older groups with lower rates. Female veteran unemployment fell significantly, while male rates rose slightly. Racial and ethnic trends varied, with decreases for Black and Asian veterans but increases for Hispanic veterans. Long-term unemployment remained prevalent among veterans.

Purpose: Ebola virus disease (EVD) is associated with vision-threatening ophthalmic sequelae, yet outcomes in young survivors remain poorly characterized. We sought to distinguish ophthalmic pathology in pediatric EVD survivors relative to close contacts and adult EVD survivors.

Design: Cross-sectional baseline analysis of participants enrolled in the Partnership for Research on Ebola Virus in Liberia (PREVAIL) III longitudinal cohort study.

Participants: Eighty-eight pediatric EVD survivors (ages 6-17 years), 203 pediatric close contacts (ages 6-17 years), and 463 adult EVD survivors (ages ≥18 years).

Testing: Visual function testing, slit-lamp biomicroscopy, indirect ophthalmoscopy, and OCT.

As advances in medicine have transformed HIV from a terminal illness into a chronic condition, a growing population of long-term survivors is now reaching older adulthood while facing increased rates of chronic illness, housing insecurity, stigma, and social isolation.
