Multi-informant approaches provide a more comprehensive understanding of behavior patterns and are considered the gold standard for behavioral assessment. However, few screening tools for young children in school settings incorporate parental perspectives, and those that do remain under-researched with respect to their validity and reliability. To address these gaps, the Identifying Behavioral and Emotional Growth Indicators and Needs-Parent Form (I-BEGIN-P) was developed as an extension of the I-BEGIN-T (Teacher) scale for children aged 3 to 5 years. The traditional portfolio optimization method, Modern Portfolio Theory, is based on the assumption that returns are normally distributed, which is always violated in practical financial market settings. In addition, traditional approaches to portfolio optimization are mostly designed as static optimizations and fail to account for the nonlinearity and non-stationarity of contemporary financial markets. Reading Echoes of Homer in Plato: Assessing the legitimacy of the macro-level thesis that approaching Plato from the poetic tradition starting with Homer generates philosophical insights not available when reading his dialogues as the first installments in the Western tradition of philosophy. It begins by identifying equivocal nuances in the dramatic content of Plato’s dialogues that are left unexplored by the current standard approach that attributes a progressive developmentalist approach to Plato’s authorial intent before suggesting an alternative unitarian approach to Plato as an author who maintains an unchanged point of view throughout his corpus of work. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has evolved from brain-inspired algorithms into a discipline that increasingly integrates with biological systems. While silicon-based platforms have advanced machine learning, they remain limited in energy efficiency and operation in environments beyond silicon. This motivates biological computing as an alternative, enabling efficient, resource-aware, and reconfigurable computing within living systems. This dissertation addresses these limitations by introducing a bacterial computing framework that models Gene Regulatory Networks (GRNs) as Gene Regulatory Neural Networks (GRNNs). Geoff Alger (b. 1961, Glen Cove, New York) was interviewed on June 23–24, 2026, at his home in McAllen, Texas, by Logan Dovalina. The interview covers Alger’s life and career as a museum professional deeply rooted in Rio Grande Valley history.

Population Health Research and Scholarship

We explored inclusive qualitative data collection strategies for autistic emerging adults (ages 18–25) to identify nutrition-related resource needs and inform intervention development. We conducted Zoom interviews with autistic emerging adults, their caregivers, and service providers. We co-developed recruitment materials with a community advisory board of autistic advocates and offered and adapted interview accommodations in real time to align with participants’ preferences. Common accommodations included receiving questions in advance and in the chat, having a caregiver present, and simplifying questions. Some techniques used with neurotypical participants translated well to our participants, such as reflective listening, a conversational tone, and allowing pauses; …

During this presentation, Sebastian Cardenas will share his graduate research on the Indigenous Yaqui people of Sonora and their participation during the 1910 Mexican Revolution between early 1913 and late 1915. his study explores the relationship between carbon emissions and firm financial performance across industries and how green electricity adoption moderates this effect. Using 9,925 firm-year observations from the Taiwan Economic Journal, we estimate panel regressions and compare Fixed Effects robust and Driscoll-Kraay (1998) standard errors to ensure robustness. Two-way and three-way interaction models reveal a green electricity paradox: biotech firms benefit, while financial and high-tech sectors decline. These findings highlight the need for sector-specific ESG investment models and tailored policy support to ensure an equitable green transition. The study contributes by integrating environmental-financial dynamics with industry heterogeneity in emerging markets

This study analyzes the Exchange Rate Pass-Through (ERPT) on export and import prices in Indonesia’s manufacturing trade with ASEAN Plus-three countries (China, Japan, and South Korea) using monthly data from 2016 to 2022. Employing the Nonlinear (NARDL) models, we examine the degree and asymmetry of ERPT across five key manufacturing sectors for each partner. The NARDL model confirms asymmetric price responses to currency appreciation and depreciation in several sectors. The findings reveal significant sectoral and country-specific variations. Some export sectors experience complete pass-through in the short term but shift to negative complete passthrough in the long run. Meanwhile, imports from …

Using financial data from 47 publicly listed banks in Indonesia from 2013Q4 to 2023Q3, this study employs a new approach by utilizing ΔCoVaR as a proxy for financial stability to examine how changes in bank competition in bank competition and banking industry concentration affects financial stability and the effectiveness of bank lending channel transmission. We find that, on one hand, an increase in market power (decreased bank competition) and an increase in banking industry concentration reduce financial stability. On the other hand, an increase in banking industry concentration enhances the effectiveness of the bank lending channel transmission by increasing the …

This study analyzed accessibility, privacy, transferability, and interest rates related to the adoption of Digital Rupiah, Indonesia’s Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), among rural and urban consumers. Findings from a hierarchical Bayesian model show that mobile applications are the main acquisition channel, and enhanced transferability with bank accounts and electronic money boosts consumer utility. However, there are concerns about fully anonymous transactions, differentiated by socio-demographic profiles (age, income, education, and knowledge). Scenario analysis suggests the potential CBDC adoption rate in Indonesia could range from 38% to 55%, influenced by privacy levels and the central bank’s interest rates.

This study examines the impact of global political and climate uncertainty on bank stability, utilizing panel data from 604 banks across 40 countries during the period 2011–2022. Through fixed effects and difference GMM methodologies, the analysis reveals that both geopolitical and climate risks adversely affect bank stability. Notably, tightening governance creates a ‘regulatory compliance paradox’ which leads to lower climate readiness and bank stability. We also identified that capital buffers matter in enhancing bank readiness to face geopolitical and climate uncertainty. However, efficiency plays a dual role. However, empirical evidence on this effect remains inconsistent. This research addresses the gap by examining the impact of horizontal spillovers not only on production efficiency but also on production risk. Portable air cleaners are playing an increasingly important role in managing indoor air quality in response to pressing issues like wildfire smoke events. Smoke is a complex mixture of gases and particulate matter; while established test methods exist for particulate matter, the dynamic behavior of gaseous pollutants is not well accounted for in current test methods. This is because prevailing air cleaner testing methods typically treat background losses as irreversible, whereas gases can engage in partitioning to and from test chamber surfaces. Ignoring these sorption interactions causes inaccurate estimation of an air cleaner's impact.

This study investigates the dynamics of the underground economy in the Indonesia–Timor-Leste border region, focusing on how cross-border informal activities evolve into a socially legitimized parallel economic system. Employing a qualitative case study approach, the research was conducted in four regencies of East Nusa Tenggara Province that directly border Timor-Leste, utilizing field observations, in-depth interviews, and policy document analysis. The findings reveal that underground economic practices are not merely acts of legal transgression but adaptive responses to structural exclusion, regulatory ambiguity, and the absence of effective state services. This study examines the perceptions of local government officials regarding adaptive capacity to climate change in South Sulawesi Province, Indonesia. While previous research often emphasizes technical or structural aspects, this study offers a perception-based and multidimensional approach, capturing institutional views from within key climate-sensitive agencies. Data were collected through a structured survey involving 576 purposively selected respondents from five provincial departments. Adaptive capacity was assessed across five dimensions: environmental, social, financial, political, and human resources. The results reveal relatively high awareness of environmental issues and internal collaboration, yet significant weaknesses in financial resources, public engagement, and human capital. This article explores the socio-political and ecological dimensions of land acquisition in the context of Indonesia's Trans Sulawesi Railway Project, focusing on Salenrang Village in Maros Regency, South Sulawesi. Grounded in a critical ethnographic method, the research examines how affected agrarian communities respond to dispossession through differentiated strategies, ranging from passive acceptance and conditional negotiation to symbolic and moral resistance. These responses are shaped by unequal access to land tenure recognition, fragmented compensation mechanisms, and exclusion from participatory decision-making processes. Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI) is a rare disorder causing bone fragility, pain, and functional impairment that causes substantial psychosocial burden. This study examined how self-perceived burden (SPB), or distress from feelings of dependence on caregivers, relates to depression, anxiety, and suicidality in adults with OI. A total of 208 adults (M age = 42.9, predominately White and female) with OI were recruited to complete a cross-sectional survey assessing SPB, psychological symptoms, health, and sociodemographics. Introduction Introducing surgical skills early in medical training may enhance students' confidence and readiness for clinical training. Simulation-based skill workshops provide students with a comfortable learning environment, resulting in effective learning. The goal of the Surgical Skills Workshop was to provide first- and second-year medical students with hands-on exposure to essential surgical skills. The educational impact on medical students' confidence in performing the respective surgical skills and changes in surgical career interest was assessed.
