Contrast-associated acute kidney injury (CA-AKI) is a known complication following

coronary angiographic procedures using iodinated contrast media (ICM). The risk of CA-AKI is

multifactorial, dependent largely on estimated glomerular filtration rates. The most important

and accepted hospital-based preventive strategy involves both a reduction of iodinated contrast

and multi-hour pre- and post-intervention normal saline hydration. Because of time constraints,

neither ambulatory surgical centers (ASC), nor outpatient-based laboratories (OBL)

can provide similar degrees of pre- and post-intervention hydration. The utilization of

carbon dioxide (CO₂) imaging, intravascular ultrasonography, and limited iso-osmolar

contrast agents may provide an alternative preventive strategy.

Background/ Purpose:

To analyze the sex distribution of physicians in a specific subspecialty, identify factors influencing subspecialty choice in internal medicine, assess job satisfaction, and evaluate burnout levels among Internal Medicine (IM) trainees and specialists.

Methods:

A questionnaire-based study was conducted using the Abridged Job Descriptive Index (AJDI) for job satisfaction and the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) for burnout. Participants included IM residents, fellows, attendings, and hospitalists considering fellowship. Descriptive and statistical analyses, including Fisher's exact test, were performed using R to assess trends across subspecialties grouped by fellowship competitiveness.

The production of conventional concrete has a significant impact on the environment, primarily due to the cement (C) component. To mitigate this impact, binders with reduced environmental footprints were used in concrete mixtures as a partial replacement for C, including powders of industrial byproducts. 3D printing via stereolithography (SLA) enables high-resolution polymer components, but as-printed parts may exhibit incomplete polymerization and reduced mechanical performance. This study investigates the effects of UV post-curing time on SLA-printed elastic photopolymer resin. Specimens were evaluated using Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), uniaxial tensile testing (ASTM D412 Type C), and Durometer Type M hardness testing. Results show that increased post-curing enhances crosslink density, tensile strength, elastic modulus, and hardness, while extended curing may reduce ductility. An optimal post-curing window balancing stiffness and flexibility was identified. U.S. employment grew by 162,000 jobs in August 2026 while the national unemployment rate remained at 4.1%. Veteran unemployment improved significantly, falling from 4.2% in July to 3.4% in August, with Post-9/11 veterans declining from 4.7% to 3.5%. Female veterans (2.4%) and male veterans (3.6%) both had lower unemployment rates than their nonveteran counterparts. Unemployment among Black veterans dropped sharply from 10.4% to 4.4%, while Hispanic veterans improved to 4.9%. Younger veterans continued to experience the highest unemployment rates. Overall, veterans maintained lower unemployment rates than nonveterans across most demographic groups.

The WashU Medicine Department of Anesthesiology (WUDA) launched a CRNA Mentorship Program in 2022, but it lacked standardized mentor education, leading to inconsistent mentor preparation and variable mentoring practices.

BACKGROUND: Measles is a highly contagious illness capable of causing significant morbidity and mortality, including adverse pregnancy outcomes. Routine screening for measles immunity is not currently recommended during pregnancy. Given the increasing frequency of measles outbreaks nationally and globally, awareness of measles immunity status can influence management of pregnant individuals who incur measles exposures and offer an opportunity for postpartum or preconception vaccination.

Systems that accompany a live musician, such as ACCompanion, work by retrieval: they hold a written accompaniment and stretch its timing to follow the soloist, so they can only accompany music whose second part already exists as a score. This thesis asks whether that second part can instead be generated, and specifically whether a machine learning model can write an accompaniment for a piece whose score it has never seen.
