Acromegaly is an endocrine disorder characterized by excess growth hormone secretion, typically from a pituitary adenoma, resulting in elevated insulin-like growth factor 1. It is associated with several cardiovascular complications, including hypertension, cardiomyopathy, and arrhythmias. While less commonly recognized, a prothrombotic state may also exist, possibly due to increased thrombin generation and elevated fibrinogen and factor VIII levels. Literature on the risk of venous thromboembolism (VTE) in acromegaly remains sparse, and documented cases of pulmonary embolism (PE) in this population are rare. A 57-year-old male with prior surgical bioprosthetic aortic valve and ascending aortic root replacement developed progressive dyspnea resulting in acute hypoxic respiratory failure and cardiogenic shock (CS). Pediatric Pulmonary Emboli (PE) are rare but have a high mortality rate. Evidence based guidelines for PE management in children are limited, and most recommendations stem from adult populations. Decisions regarding pursuing systemic thrombolysis, surgical embolectomy, catheter-based interventions, or medical management are often made on a case-by-case basis by a multidisciplinary team after careful consideration of the risks and benefits. We present a case of a 17-year-old female who was successfully treated with mechanical thrombectomy for bilateral PE after recent initiation of oral contraceptives.

Many new treatment options for ulcerative colitis (UC) have become available in recent years, including dual-mechanism strategies and single-agent approaches. Among available treatments, JAK– STAT inhibitors carry an increased risk of herpes zoster (HZ) with an associated FDA Black Box warning.

This study aims to compare FDA-approved UC therapies and their relative association with HZ using reported data from the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System database (FAERS).

To address the core challenges of quantifying ecological value and converting it into economic gains, this study proposes a theoretical framework of ecological interest (EI) based on the principle that “lucid waters and lush mountains are invaluable assets”. This study analyzes the evolution of the relationship between science and government in the United States through the lens of the social contract of science. It proposes a five-dimensional framework covering legitimacy, institutional support, autonomy, functional expectations, and responsibility, and identifies three historical stages from 1945 to 2024, followed by recent policy changes since 2025.The findings suggest a shift from a science-centered, cognition-driven model to a mission-oriented model shaped by national competition and technological capacity. Altered environmental conditions in aquatic ecosystems through Dissolved Organic Carbon (DOC) input and increased temperature influence phytoplankton communities. To assess the impacts of climate change as both single and combined effects of DOC inputs and temperature on phytoplankton growth, we conducted an outdoor experiment including four sets of conditions in triplicate: a) control, b) DOC treatment, c) temperature treatment, and d) DOC and temperature treatment. We added 10 mg/L of glucose (C₆H₁₂O₆) as a source of DOC. The warming treatment increased the water temperature by 3°C above the control (p-value < 0.05). This article investigates the barriers and enablers to quality early childhood education and care (ECEC) in Lebanon’s complex and multilingual context. In this qualitative study, 56 stakeholders—ministry representatives, NGOs, educators, parents, and healthcare professionals—were interviewed. The study reveals a fragmented governance structure and inequitable funding that impact the quality and equitable access to ECEC provision. Despite the value placed on ECEC and OL, systemic weaknesses, including inadequate staff compensation and donor-driven priorities, constrain progress. Findings also highlight grassroots resilience, with committed educators and NGOs adapting to meet local needs. Using Kagan’s system-level framework and Torii et al.’s (2017) quality domains …

Dung beetles (Scarabaeidae: Scarabaeinae) play a crucial role in dung removal and nutrient cycling. We assessed the distributional patterns of diversity of the tribe Onitini across 12 subdivisions in Gujranwala, Gujrat, and Sialkot districts of Punjab, Pakistan. Surveys were conducted twice a month with an inter-visit interval of ∼2 weeks by placing three pitfall traps along each 1000 m transect, each spaced ∼330 m apart. Data were collected from nine traps placed along three transects at each location within the subdivisions. This thesis examines Paul’s “Law of Christ” as a halakhic framework for Gentile inclusion in the covenant community. It argues that Paul does not reject the Torah as God’s covenant instruction, nor does he replace it with a vague or subjective ethic. Rather, Paul reorients Torah through the Christ event and applies it to Gentile believers through Spirit-empowered covenant fidelity. By analyzing key Pauline texts, especially Galatians 6:2, 1 Corinthians 9:21, 1 Corinthians 7:17–20, and related case studies involving idolatry, sexual immorality, food, and table fellowship, this study demonstrates that Paul’s instructions to Gentiles function as concrete legal and communal …

The criminal system is not immune from this influence. Big Capital shapes the operation of the criminal system in highly visible ways through its investments in policing technology, electronic monitoring systems, and correctional and detention systems. In November 2024, debanking grabbed national headlines when venture capitalist Marc Andreessen appeared on the popular Joe Rogan podcast. Andreessen claimed that, driven by political motivations, government bank regulators had forced banks to close accounts of crypto customers. While crypto industry participants supported the claims, regulators denied debanking. Others branded the debanking allegations a right-wing conspiracy. This is just the latest example of the debanking debate that has raged for decades with little resolution.
