Journal of Bioresource Management
Brucellosis is a highly zoonotic infection found in animals and human, it has a high death ratio and lifetime sterility rate. The rates of intra- and interspecific infections have dramatically increased in recent years as a result of inadequate management and scarce resources particularly in developing nations. In cattle, reduced milk yield and elevated body temperature are the primary indicators, whereas in humans, soaring fever, overall malaise, and arthritis are the hallmarks of late-term abortion. Despite the fact that this diseases in animals and humans found unclear clinically, it will leads towards the hindrance in diagnosing this infectious illness serologically, …

internetowy Kwartalnik Antymonopolowy i Regulacyjny (internet Quarterly on Antitrust and Regulation)
This article discusses the issue of permissibility of the termination of contracts concluded by entrepreneurs with consumers for an indefi nite period of time. The article presents the previous line of decisions of the President of the Offi ce of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) and the case-law of Polish courts concerning the so-called ‘valid reasons’ as a basis of such termination, both from the perspective of termination clauses and modifi cation clauses. This past practice is juxtaposed with the most recent position of the UOKiK President in the Amazon case, and the changes in the terms of service introduced …

Attempts To Define The Concept Of ‘Dark Patterns’ In The Doctrine And Activities Of Authorities Of Eu Member States, Damian Kazimierski
internetowy Kwartalnik Antymonopolowy i Regulacyjny (internet Quarterly on Antitrust and Regulation)
The aim of the paper is to trace the different ways of defining the concept of ‘dark patterns’ in the doctrine and decisional practice of authorities operating within the territory of the European Union, with particular attention placed on the Polish perspective. The publication addresses the main elements of this notion, and indicates the premises that lack consensus in the academic community and in the decisional practices of the authorities. These include, first of all, the requirement of intentionality of the use of social engineering in order to induce the user of a website or application to take the expected …

Fewer Providers, Longer Distances: New Hampshire's Child Care Landscape, Jess Carson, Harshita Sarup
Fewer Providers, Longer Distances: New Hampshire's Child Care Landscape, Jess Carson, Harshita Sarup
Carsey Publications
In this primer, authors Jess Carson and Harshita Sarup discuss New Hampshire’s “supply” of child care. Licensed child care centers make up the majority of New Hampshire’s early care and education landscape, although family needs are also met through licensed home-based providers, unlicensed providers like relatives, and federal programs like Head Start. Between 2017 and 2024, New Hampshire gained about 2,100 slots among providers serving children under age 5, despite losing 13 percent of licensed providers serving that age group. These closures consolidated available supply into fewer, larger child care centers. This consolidation further exacerbates the state’s uneven capacity to …

New Hampshire's Well Educated, Underpaid Child Care Workforce, Rebecca Glauber, Jess Carson
Carsey Publications
In this primer, authors Rebecca Glauber and Jess Carson discuss New Hampshire’s child care workforce. They report that New Hampshire child care workers are more likely than other workers to have at least some college experience, but they earn far less. Annual earnings among full-time child care workers are just $32,310, about half those of other workers in the state. Although child care and early educators express high job satisfaction, the field is subject to turnover and short staffing as workers seek opportunities that better match their education and the cost of living in New Hampshire. They conclude that continued …

The theoretical basis for this study was flow theory. Fourteen participants were recruited using snowball sampling via Facebook. Seven participants were interviewed, and seven participated in a focus group. The …
Relationship Between Demographic Factors And Prevalence Of Cannabis Use Disorder Among Adults Holding A Medical Marijuana Card In A Rural Community, Maria Isabel Peña Kumpf
Relationship Between Demographic Factors And Prevalence Of Cannabis Use Disorder Among Adults Holding A Medical Marijuana Card In A Rural Community, Maria Isabel Peña Kumpf
Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies
Despite the widespread use of cannabis and the prevalence of cannabis use disorder (CUD) in Ohio, information was limited on the effectiveness of medical marijuana and CUD treatment success, particularly within specific populations and counties. The purpose of this quantitative study was to examine the prevalence of CUD among adults from rural communities who had received medical marijuana cards for chronic conditions. The study examined the demographic factors of age, gender, and education level as independent variables influencing the development of CUD in this population. The biopsychosocial theory model provided the framework for the study. Data was collected through structured …

Peninsula Medical School
BACKGROUND: Hepatic steatosis (HS) increases morbidity and mortality associated with liver surgery (LS). Furthermore, patients with HS are more likely to require a blood transfusion, which is associated with worse short and long-term outcomes. Patients with HS requiring LS receive no specific dietary treatment or advice. A very low-calorie diet (VLCD) is commonly used before gallbladder and bariatric surgery to reduce liver volumes and associated intraoperative morbidity. These diets typically provide 800-1200 kcal/day over a 2-4-week period. Limited evidence suggests that a VLCD in patients with LS may result in better outcomes.
METHODS: This study aims to test the feasibility …

Engaging Stakeholders In Public Sector Healthcare: Driving Transformation In The Eastern Cape Department Of Health's Re-Engineering Journey, Ella Rasmeni, Tando Rulashe, Hendrik Francois Conradie
BISNIS & BIROKRASI: Jurnal Ilmu Administrasi dan Organisasi
The Eastern Cape Department of Health (ECDoH) is undergoing a re-engineering process to enhance service efficiency and address organizational inefficiencies, such as a bloated structure and excessive personnel costs. However, employees, as key stakeholders, were not meaningfully engaged in the process. This study investigates the role of stakeholder engagement in the ECDoH's transformative efforts, highlighting its impact on inclusivity, strategic alignment, and transparency. Grounded in a constructivist paradigm, this study adopts a qualitative approach using focus group discussions with 12 participants from diverse stakeholder groups. Thematic analysis revealed critical gaps in the ECDoH's engagement strategy, including the absence of a …

Objectives: Vasculopathy emerges early in systemic sclerosis (SSc) and links to endothelial cell (EC) injury and angiogenesis. Understanding EC transcriptomes and epigenomes is crucial for unravelling the mechanisms involved.
Methods: Transcriptomes and chromatin accessibility were assessed by single-cell RNA sequencing and single-nucleus transposase-accessible chromatin sequencing. Immunofluorescent staining of skin and proteomics assay were employed to confirm the altered SSc EC phenotypes. Gain-of-function assay was used to evaluate the effects of ETS transcription factors on human dermal ECs (hDECs).
Results: Both control and SSc ECs shared transcriptomic signatures of vascular linages (arterial, capillary and venous ECs) and lymphatic ECs. Arterial ECs …
