Embedding Clinical Application Assignments In Dnp Education: A Model For Practice Hour Acquisition, Cynthia Plonien
Embedding Clinical Application Assignments In Dnp Education: A Model For Practice Hour Acquisition, Cynthia Plonien
Nursing Faculty Publications & Presentations
Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs must ensure graduates complete a minimum of 1,000 post-baccalaureate clinical/practice hours aligned with the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) Essentials. As programs transition to accelerated and online formats, achieving these hours has become increasingly challenging, particularly for students entering without prior supervised clinical experience. Traditional models relying on terminal practicum courses often create feasibility limitations and variability in the quality of practice experiences. This article describes an innovative curricular model that embeds Clinical Application Assignments (CAAs) across didactic coursework to support longitudinal acquisition of clinical hours. This approach provides a feasible and …

Goodness-Of-Fit Test For The Kumaraswamy Distribution Via Energy Distance Approach With Applications To Real Data, Joseph Njuki, Thomas Gilbert
Goodness-Of-Fit Test For The Kumaraswamy Distribution Via Energy Distance Approach With Applications To Real Data, Joseph Njuki, Thomas Gilbert
Mathematics and Statistics
In this article, we develop a goodness-of-fit test for the Kumaraswamy distribution based on energy statistics. Due to the availability of its quantile (inverse) function, the Kumaraswamy distribution has been shown to be the preferred alternative to the Beta distribution, since both have bounded support in the (0,1) interval. The proposed test procedure is simple and more powerful against general alternatives. Under different settings, simulations show that the proposed test is capable of being well controlled for any given significance (nominal) levels. In terms of power comparisons, the proposed test outperforms other existing methods in different settings. We then apply …

Indocyanine Green Focused Near-Infrared Fluorescence Lymphography Localization In Treatment Of Chyle Leak After Mastectomy With Targeted Left Axillary Sentinel Node Biopsy For Breast Cancer., Bradley C Kruithoff, Dawn Cox, Mark Cripe
Women’s Health Articles
We present a woman in her 60s who underwent bilateral mastectomy with left axillary targeted lymph node biopsy in the setting of high grade invasive ductal carcinoma of the left breast with metastasis to a left axillary lymph node. Her postoperative course was complicated by high output milky drainage from her left axillary surgical drain, consistent with a chyle leak, after confirmatory testing demonstrated drain fluid with high triglyceride content. The patient failed non-operative management consisting of low-fat diet and compressive measures. Ultimately, the patient returned to the operating room where indocyanine green near-infrared fluorescence lymphography was used to localized …

Public Services Faculty Presentations
Reflective teaching as a community of practice can offer critical support in honing both teacher-librarian identity and classroom management skills. In this session, we will outline how university librarians and MLIS students collaborated to develop a community of practice around reflective teaching. Attendees will hear firsthand from MLIS students about how participating in this community of practice shaped their development and confidence as emerging instructors. Our practice included pre- and post-semester reflections, structured goal setting, regular reflection on one-shot instruction, and periodic cohort meetings to share how reflection shapes future practice. We aimed to create a non-hierarchical approach to reflection …

``Evaluation Of Molybdenum Content In 99Mo/99mTc Generators Eluate'', Sunnia Shafiq, Hafiz Khush Naseeb Ahmad, Hina Manzoor, Sadiqullah Sadiqullah, Hashir Saeed, Muhammad Sadiq, Shehla Iftikhar
Journal of King Abdulaziz University: Engineering Sciences
Objective This study aimed to assess the reliability and purity of technetium-99m (99mTc) generators produced by the Pakistan Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology (PINSTECH), known as PAKGEN, by evaluating the molybdenum (99Mo) breakthrough levels over five years. Maintaining low 99Mo levels is crucial for patient safety and high-quality diagnostic imaging in nuclear medicine. Methods: 189 PAKGEN 99m Tc generators were tested at the Centre for Nuclear Medicine and Radiotherapy (CENAR) in Quetta, Pakistan, from December 2019 to December 2023. Each generator was eluated daily from Monday to Saturday, and the molybdenum content in the …
Optimizing Gated Rnns, Joshua Paul Fechete
Optimizing Gated Rnns, Joshua Paul Fechete
Honors Projects
Gated recurrent neural networks such as Long Short-Term Memory (LSTM) and Gated Recurrent Units (GRU) help fix instability present in normal recurrent neural networks. This allows them to be used for various real-world tasks, and due to their architecture, they are uniquely qualified to handle variable sized input such as text. However, even before training can begin on a machine learning model, various hyperparameters must be chosen to decide how the model will be architectured. Choosing good hyperparameters is vital for creating a model that performs well but is not larger and more computationally expensive to run than it needs …
The Joy Of Shopping: Thrill Of The Treasure Hunt, Jane Gu, Cristina Nistor, Matthew Selove
The Joy Of Shopping: Thrill Of The Treasure Hunt, Jane Gu, Cristina Nistor, Matthew Selove
Business Faculty Articles and Research
People sometimes enjoy the thrill of the hunt, which implies search can generate joy in addition to costs. Some customers say they enjoy searching for unique items such as vintage T-shirts and luxury handbags, and managers at warehouse stores, thrift stores, and many online selling platforms say they design their store format to offer a treasure hunt experience. We develop a model in which customers enjoy searching for a treasure. Our model’s search utility function includes a term based on the treasure’s net value, a term based on the instantaneous likelihood of discovering treasure, and a constant term reflecting other …

Transcripts were analyzed using a general inductive approach. This study finds that 1) Mutual …
Shoplifting: Analyzing Spatial And Temporal Patterns, Elizabeth Petrenko
Shoplifting: Analyzing Spatial And Temporal Patterns, Elizabeth Petrenko
Dissertations and Theses
Shoplifting has contributed to significant losses in Oregon, reaching nearly $956 million in 2022. While overall property crime in Portland, Oregon, dropped between 2023 and 2024, reported shoplifting incidents increased by 50.0%. In Oregon, stealing property worth $100 or less is third-degree theft and a Class C misdemeanor. Second-degree theft involving stealing property between $100 and $1,000 is a Class A misdemeanor. Although often classified as petty or minor theft, shoplifting imposes strain on retailers, consumers, and communities, which raises questions about the spatial and temporal distribution of this crime. This study uses Portland Police Bureau (PPB) offense data to …
Justice By Geography: District-Level Variation In Pretrial Release Outcomes Across Oregon, Ethan Loomis
Justice By Geography: District-Level Variation In Pretrial Release Outcomes Across Oregon, Ethan Loomis
Dissertations and Theses
AbstractOregon’s pretrial system operates under a common statewide legal framework, yet detention and release outcomes do not appear fully consistent across jurisdictions. Earlier research on pretrial decision-making has largely focused on judicial discretion, individual-level legal factors, and the use of risk assessment tools, while giving less attention to the district-level environments in which those decisions are made. This study examines whether variation in institutional capacity, political context, demographic composition, and socioeconomic conditions corresponds with differences in pretrial outcomes across Oregon’s circuit court districts.
The study draws from focal concerns theory, racial threat perspectives, and organizational approaches to court decision-making. Rather …

The Civil Court denied tenant's motion to dismiss for landlord's failure to comply with LLC publication requirements under LLCL § 206 at commencement. The court held that noncompliance is not a jurisdictional defect and that subsequent publication warrants nunc pro tunc application, analogizing to the MDL § 325 registration requirement. Because landlord had begun publication and filing with the Department of State, the proceeding was permitted to continue.
Predictors Of Leadership Self-Efficacy: Racial Identity-Related Ideological Values, Racism-Related Stress, And Resilience Among Asian American Educators In K-12 Schools, Chong Lor
Doctoral Dissertations
The purpose of this study was to explore the underrepresentation of Asian American educators in K-12 leadership and the limited leadership pipeline available to them. Specifically, this study examined the extent of the relationships between Asian American racial identity-related ideological values (AARIIV), Asian American racism-related stress (AARRS), resilience, and leadership self-efficacy (LSE) among Asian American educators in K-12 schools.
This study was grounded in three theoretical perspectives—AsianCrit, the Racial Triangulation of Asian Americans, and Social Cognitive Theory—that provided the theoretical rationale for examining the racialization of Asian Americans in relation to leadership. This theoretical foundation guided the development of the …

The Appellate Division affirmed the lower court's decision, largely granting summary judgment to the landlord in a holdover action for use and occupancy, electricity charges, and dismissing the tenant's counterclaims. The court found the landlord provided sufficient notice of non-renewal via email under RPL § 226-c and was entitled to holdover damages and unpaid electricity charges. It also confirmed the landlord's lawful retention of the security deposit and dismissed the tenant's harassment claim. However, the court modified the order, vacating the determination that the landlord was the prevailing party for attorney's fees, as this finding was premature pending resolution of …

Background
Librarians providing evidence synthesis services often face project management challenges, from tracking progress on search strategy development to clarifying team roles. Librarians have a variety of tools to address these challenges.1 We propose using electronic lab notebooks (ELNs), which standardize how scientists record research progress. Institutions have adapted ELNs to protect intellectual property and improve rigor and reproducibility.
Although many published systematic reviews report following guidelines such as PRISMA, they still lack rigor and reproducibility.2 Therefore, one of the authors developed the Standards for Working with Research Librarians-on Systematic Reviews (SWiRL-SR) checklist to facilitate collaboration and improve …

In this nonpayment proceeding, the court denied the tenant's motion for summary judgment and granted the landlord's cross-motion to amend its petition. The tenant argued the landlord could not recover arrears under expired leases per RPAPL § 711(2) and that the predicate Good Cause Eviction Law (GCEL) notice was defective. The court held that arrears under prior leases are recoverable if the landlord-tenant relationship was not severed, as renewals extend the existing tenancy. The court also ruled that a defective GCEL notice is a ministerial error, amendable, and not fatal to a nonpayment proceeding, as it does not prejudice the …
