We tested whether large language models (LLMs) can help predict results from a complex behavioural science experiment. In study 1, we investigated the performance of the widely used LLMs GPT-3.5 and GPT-4 in forecasting the empirical findings of a large-scale experimental study of emotions, gender, and social perceptions. We found that GPT-4, but not GPT-3.5, matched the performance of a cohort of 119 human experts, with correlations of 0.89 (GPT-4), 0.07 (GPT-3.5) and 0.87 (human experts) between aggregated forecasts and realized effect sizes. This work investigates the passivity-based control of a class of underactuated mechanical systems with first-order actuator dynamics and constant but uncertain coupling. The main contribution is a new dynamic extension of the interconnection-and-damping-assignment passivity-based control methodology that compensates for the effect of the model uncertainty. The effectiveness of the controller is demonstrated with numerical simulations on a ball-on-beam system.

The campos rupestres, ecosystems that are both unique and highly diverse, are home to a variety of endemic species, including Comanthera bisulcata (Eriocaulaceae). This species, of economic importance, has its inflorescences used in handicrafts due to the fact that they retain the appearance of living structures even after being harvested and dried. The trade of these inflorescences depends almost exclusively on extraction, an activity of great importance for the traditional communities of the Espinhaço Meridional municipalities, in Minas Gerais. Corylus heterophylla, the majestic hazelnut tree, stands as one of the esteemed quartet of grand nuts reigning across the landscapes of temperate Asia, Europe, and North America. But its relationship with endophytic fungi remains thinly explored. This study successfully identified a new species designated as Nigrospora coryli through conjoint analysis of morphology and systematics. The genetic regions examined encompassed ITS, TUB2, and TEF1-α.The detailed morphological description, colour photographs of Macro- and microcharacters are presented.

Marginalized communities, including Indigenous populations, experience climate change at a more extreme rate given where they live, despite their knowledge of and connection to the land. Due to this interconnection, there have been many negative impacts on cultural identities in correlation with climate change. For example, Indigenous communities that continue growing food, hunting and foraging on traditional lands now face increasingly limited resources due to changes in the land itself. This research study was designed to examine accelerated, second-degree prelicensure baccalaureate graduates' perceptions of the andragogical practices employed by faculty that prepared students best to begin practice as entry level professional nurses. The association between mental health court participation and a reduction in recidivism is well documented. The question of whether mental health courts meet their therapeutic goals has received little scholarly attention. Therapeutic outcomes for mental health court participants are not well understood. Quality-of-life changes are a therapeutic outcome for mental health court participants. The purpose of this study was to explore factors related to such changes. The conceptual framework was based on therapeutic jurisprudence and criminogenic risk theory as implemented through the risk-need responsivity model. BACKGROUND: ChatGPT is rapidly becoming a source of medical knowledge for patients. This study aims to assess the completeness and accuracy of ChatGPT's answers to the most frequently asked patients' questions about shoulder pathology.

METHODS: ChatGPT (version 3.5) was queried to produce the five most common shoulder pathologies: biceps tendonitis, rotator cuff tears, shoulder arthritis, shoulder dislocation and adhesive capsulitis. Single-cell RNA sequencing (scRNA-seq) and spatial transcriptomics (ST) are two emerging research technologies that uniquely characterize gene expression microenvironments on a cellular or subcellular level. The skin, a clinically accessible tissue composed of diverse, essential cell populations, serves as an ideal target for these high-resolution investigative approaches.
