This article introduces the Journal of Speech, Language, and Hearing Research Special Issue: Selected Papers From the 2022 Apraxia Kids Research Symposium. The field of childhood apraxia of speech (CAS) has developed significantly in the past 15 years, with key improvements in understanding of basic biology including genetics, neuroscience, and computational modelling; development of diagnostic tools and methods; diversity of evidence-based interventions with increasingly rigorous experimental designs; and understanding of impacts beyond impairment-level measures. Water security and climate change are important priorities for communities and regions worldwide. The intersections between water and climate change extend across many environmental and human activities. This Primer is intended as an introduction, grounded in examples, for students and others considering the interactions between climate, water, and society. In this Primer, we summarize key intersections between water and climate across four sectors: environment; drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene; food and agriculture; and energy. This paper delves into the necessary conditions for the International Criminal Court (ICC) to serve a complementary role in cases where a state is unable or unwilling to prosecute. It assesses the criteria for determining the applicability of these cases to the situation in Sudan before the International Criminal Court. Research reveals that LGBTQ+ women are subjected to high rates of sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV). It is widely known that most victim-survivors of SGBV do not report it to the police and when they do, they usually have negative experiences, often due to the influence of myths and stereotypes on police officers’ attitudes and conduct. LGBTQ+ communities are known to be subjected to a multitude of myths and stereotypes that perpetuate violence against them, particularly in the case of highly marginalized subgroups (e.g., trans women, bisexual women). Journal of Cybersecurity Education, Research and Practice

Detecting and mitigating wormhole attacks in wireless networks remains a critical challenge due to their deceptive nature and potential to compromise network integrity. This paper proposes a novel approach to wormhole detection by leveraging propagation delay analysis between network nodes. Unlike traditional methods that rely on signature-based detection or specialized hardware, our method focuses on analyzing propagation delay timings to identify anomalous behavior indicative of wormhole attacks. The proposed methodology involves collecting propagation delay data in both normal network scenarios and scenarios with inserted malicious wormhole nodes. Introduction Cystic fibrosis (CF) is commonly complicated by chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS). Despite highly effective management options, CRS in people with CF (PwCF+CRS) may be refractory to medical therapy, eventually requiring endoscopic sinus surgery. The impact of sinus surgery on pulmonary, quality of life (QOL), and other outcomes in PwCF+CRS in the expanding era of highly effective modulator therapy has not been fully elucidated. This study aims to determine if endoscopic sinus surgery can offer superior outcomes for PwCF+CRS when compared to continued medical treatment of CRS. Examining Officer, Agency, And Victim Characteristics In On-Duty Fatal Shootings, Molly A. Whetstone, Eric M. Cooke, Philip M. Stinson

This study examines the characteristics of officers, agencies, and victims involved in an on-duty fatal shooting. Previous research has identified that officer gender, experience level, and victim race influence incidents but has often overlooked agency characteristics. This study uses data from the Henry A. Wallace Police Crime Database to examine the relationship between officer, agency, and victim characteristics of officers charged with murder or manslaughter resulting from an on-duty fatal shooting. This analysis aims to inform discussions that could lead to new policies and implications for police agencies.

This collection (cataloged on Bib #2888882) is comprised of items related to American industries, companies, and association/guilds, primarily from the 1940s to 1960s. These include short publications, pamphlets, reports, and product catalogs. The items originated with the Library’s vertical file, which was culled and the majority of items discarded in 2020. Items related to Alabama and items deemed of significant historical interest were retained and added to the Library’s Special Collections. The vertical file’s original contents date back to JSU’s time as a Normal School; it appears items were added up until at least the 1990s.

Novel near-infrared ratiometric molecules (probes A and B) produced by linking formyl-functionalized xanthene and methoxybenzene moieties, respectively, onto a xanthene-hemicyanine framework are detailed. Probe A exhibited a primary absorption peak at 780 nm and a shoulder peak at 730 nm and exhibited fluorescence at 740 nm↓ (signifies a downward shift in intensity upon acidification) in a pH 9.3 buffer and 780 nm↑ at pH 2.8 under excitation at 700 nm. Design, Characterization, And Simulation Of A 2d Dual-Rail Quantum Processor, Diego Barrutia

Bosonic systems, such as three-dimensional (3D) λ/4 coaxial cavities and two-dimensional (2D) λ/2 coplanar waveguide (CPW) resonators, are quantum harmonic oscillators that encode information in phase space, offering a hardware-efficient route toward quantum error correction and simulation in superconducting circuits. In this thesis, we present the design, characterization, and simulation of a dual-rail processor constructed with a 2D λ/2 coplanar waveguide resonators, demonstrating a percent error between experimental and analytical results within a range of 3.31% - 13.16%. The analytical results exhibit high precision but lower accuracy relative to experimental measurements. By integrating both closed-source and open-source software tools, we …

Winter conditions often lead to significant traffic delays and safety risks due to ice or snow accumulation on pavement surfaces. This study evaluates the potential of electrically conductive asphalt (ECA) pavements to prevent such accumulations by melting ice and snow under real-world conditions. The study involved preparing ECA mixtures using graphite and carbon fibers, three carbon fiber lengths (3 mm, 6 mm, and 24 mm), and aggregates with two nominal maximum aggregate sizes (NMAS) (4.75 mm and 9.5 mm).
