Value co-creation has emerged as a way for organizations to gain a competitive advantage and differentiate themselves from the competition. In the literature, a positive link has been found between value co-creation and firm performance. However, the impact of sales team value co-creation on performance has been largely unexplored. This study explores drivers of value co-creation by sales teams and its performance outcomes, with market turbulence as a contingency factor. Using a sample of 201 salespeople in 24 sales teams, the results indicate that when sales teams co-create value with customers, they can increase their sales performance. This effect is …

As a sensitive and federally threatened species, the California Red Legged Frog (Rana draytonii) is known as a bioindicator because it most often occurs in complex healthy ecosystems capable of sustaining a diverse web of species. As humans affect natural habitats and climate change alters the environment, locating and monitoring sensitive species and their habitats is vital to supporting biodiversity and ecosystem health. Once ranging from Northern Mexico to the northern reaches of the California coast and Sierra Mountains, habitat of R. draytonii has been reduced to primarily the central coast of California. Over the past five decades, biologgers have been used to study animal behavior, physiology, and ecology. Externally mounted biologgers may have unforeseen effects on behavior, habitat use, foraging success, and reproductive success. Although guidelines exist for the recommended mass of biologgers on terrestrial animals, these guidelines are inappropriate for marine animals, which are more affected by buoyancy and drag. However, drag is difficult to measure directly necessitating the use of proxies based on physical characteristics of biologgers like frontal area. This proceedings is the output of the WMU Maritime Week 2024 Conference, which was held from August 27 to 30, 2024, at WMU in Malmö. As the first conference of WMU Maritime Week, it focused on themes such as the IMO World Maritime Day theme 2024: 'Navigating the Future: Safety First!', Maritime Sustainability, Digitalization, Decarbonization, Maritime Business and Logistics, and Capacity Development. A total of 42 experts in these fields presented across 8 sessions. This proceeding provides a summary of the presentations from all the speakers.

Co-infection by intestinal helminths and Plasmodium spp. may be common in endemic communities. Several studies have identified a relationship between helminth infection, Plasmodium spp. infection and malaria severity. However, the relationship is not well defined, and results are inconclusive. We analyzed stool samples from a cohort of children with severe malaria enrolled in two hospitals in Uganda from 2014-2017 and asymptomatic community children from the same household or neighborhood and enrolled at the same time, all 6 months to 48 months of age. We investigated if intestinal helminth infection modified risk of severe malaria. We extracted nucleic acids from stool …

This Article examines how Chief Justice Taney’s opinion in Dred Scott v. Sandford sparked a cycle of delegitimization that parallels contemporary debates about the Supreme Court’s legitimacy crisis. Part I explicates how one family’s fight for freedom in Missouri reached the Supreme Court, the resulting radical decision, and the nation’s reaction to show the initial stages of this cycle. Part II examines the impact of Dred Scott on politics and law during the James Buchanan administration (1857–1861). During this period, the federal government, Southern states, and some Western territories swiftly implemented the decision, for example by expelling free Black residents. …

Our Founders specifically identified education as necessary to economic success and full participation in our democracy and society. However, the Supreme Court held in San Antonio Independent School District v. Rodriguez that education in America is not a constitutional right; instead, it is a commodity that few can afford. Then, in 2023, Biden v. Nebraska exposed the direct result of that ruling: the average American––regardless of their disability status––struggles to pay back their student loans, even when they have a well-paying job. The student debt crisis significantly impacts the economic future of students with disabilities, who make on average sixty-six …

While all Chief Justices leave behind distinctive periods of judicial thought and practice, the quantitative and qualitative data presented in this article show that the Roberts Court in particular stands out in the development of Fourth Amendment precedent. The key cases that shaped the search and seizure doctrine before and during his rise show that, contrary to what many may expect, Chief Justice Roberts will likely oversee limited, pro-defendant decisions that could grant additional legitimacy to the Court’s crime-control jurisprudence. Conservatives have made reforming the civil service a top priority, and this was exemplified by former President Donald Trump’s open opposition to job protections that federal civil servants enjoy. President Trump and others who advance a unitary executive theory, pledged to reshape the civil service by amassing appointment, disciplinary and removal powers in the president, although this would make a patronage system more feasible. To this end, President Trump issued an executive order that exposed many career federal civil service workers to a spoils system. Army operations rely on fuel-intensive vehicles and aircraft, which contribute substantially to global emissions and the looming threat of global warming. This study evaluates the potential of transitioning five key U.S. Army vehicles, the M1301 ISV, HMMWV M1165, JLTV M1280, LMTV M1078, and M3A3 Bradley, from traditional diesel and JP8 powertrains to electric vehicle (EV) and hydrogen fuel cell vehicle (FCV) technologies. Vehicle specifications including engine power, fuel efficiency, weight, and payload were gathered for each vehicle and compared. Efficiency was estimated for EV and FCV powertrains using linear regressions with data from the AFLEET Online tool, which provided national …

The overall goal of this study was to assess 28 selected locations in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania, score them for walkability and bikeability, and suggest changes to low-ranking locations to improve the infrastructure of the town. We selected these points by focusing on areas of target for residents (grocery shopping, routes to work, schools, etc.), and to ensure we covered a major portion of the town for proper representation. We scored each of our sites using our instrument, which was broken down into two main categories: walkability and bikeability. A bike share program is a shared transportation system that offers convenient short-term bicycle access for a low cost. This study aims to assess the potential for a program in Gettysburg, PA and develop a proposal for implementation. We assessed the potential of a bike share program by administering a survey targeted to locals, tourists, and college students. This essay is a case study of the experiences of Ethel Bird, a middle-class student at Beloit College at the turn of the twentieth century. Through an analysis of the first-person accounts of her college life, as reported in hundreds of letters sent to her parents, the essay will expand upon previous explorations of gender and postsecondary education to examine specifically the middle-class experience, as well as how this experience led to the entry of women into the workforce. Children are more vulnerable to asthmatic symptoms due to the physiological immaturity of their respiratory systems. Therefore, irritants are deemed more hazardous for the pediatric population. Pollution is a growing health concern, and within the literature review, several approaches to the measurement of the impact of low air quality and educational interventions are discussed. The themes identified in the literature review are increased risk of pollution-induced exacerbation due to age, behavior, and residential proximity to emission-producing facilities. There is extensive evidence that network structure (e.g., air transport, rivers, or roads) may significantly enhance the spread of epidemics into the surrounding geographical area. A new compartmental modeling framework is proposed which couples well-mixed (ODE in time) population centers at the vertices, 1D travel routes on the graph’s edges, and a 2D continuum containing the rest of the population to simulate how an infection spreads through a population. The edge equations are coupled to the vertex ODEs through junction conditions, while the domain equations are coupled to the edges through boundary conditions. Jordan: Geopolitics, International Relations, and the Future of the Middle East

This study examines the motives of Jordanians who join Jihadi Salafist groups. Particularly, the researcher focuses on social and economic factors that could motivate Jordanians to join these groups. Drawing from interviews with experts, a review of the 2018 Sociology of Extremism and Terrorism in Jordan study, and historical analysis, the researcher identifies three primary motivators: government failure, identity crises, and economic challenges. Key findings highlight that the failure of Arab states to provide adequate governance and public services to their people caused mistrust and a feeling of discrimination among the Arab people.
