Objectives: Acinar cell carcinoma (ACC) accounts for about 1% of pancreatic cancers. The molecular and clinical features of ACC are less characterized than those of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma. Methods: We retrospectively evaluated the clinical and molecular features of ACC patients who underwent germline and/or somatic molecular testing at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center from 2008 to 2022 and two cases from 2023-2024 who underwent RNA and TME analysis by Boston Gene. The experience of inner light and ecstasy is widely accepted as a universal mystical experience, regardless of cultural or religious context. While one can read first-hand accounts in the historical record, the direct experience of light remains elusive for most people. This study analyzes a series of dream-based experiences of light provided by a single subject. In our analysis of 19 dreams, we pursue a process-oriented, relational analysis based on co-creative dream theory, which views the dream as an interactive experience in real time rather than a fixed product of the unconscious mind. Two mechanisms have been proposed to explain sex selection in India: son preference in which parents desire a male heir and daughter aversion in which dowry payments make parents worse off with girls. Our model incorporates both mechanisms, providing micro-foundations, based on the organization of the marriage institution, for daughter aversion. Marital matching, sex selection, and dowries are jointly determined in the model, whose implications are tested on a representative sample of rural households. Simulations of the model indicate that existing policies targeting daughter aversion might exacerbate the problem, while identifying other policies that could be effective.

Under conditions of ionic equilibrium with the environment a cell maintains a constant volume yet rapidly exchanges water molecules with the extracellular space. The rate constant for steady state water efflux, k_io, can be measured using contrast enhanced magnetic resonance (CE-MR). The active water cycling (AWC) hypothesis is puts forward that k_io is primarily influenced by cellular ATP levels and H⁺ ATPase activity at the cell membrane. Background: T-cell lymphomas (TCLs) are a group of heterogenous cancers with poor rates and duration of response. There remains a great challenge in risk stratification of these cancers. Cluster of differentiation (CD) 5 has shown prognostic implication in many subtypes of B-cell lymphoma; however, its role in TCLs is not known. Methods: We performed a single-institution retrospective analysis of newly diagnosed patients with TCL. CD5 positivity was determined based on positive results via immunohistochemistry and/or flow cytometry. Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality globally. Maternal obesity during pregnancy is linked to systemic inflammation and elevated levels of the pro-inflammatory cytokine interleukin-6 (IL-6). In our previous work, we demonstrated that increased maternal IL-6 during gestation impacts intrauterine development in mice. We hypothesized that IL-6-induced inflammation alters gene expression in the developing fetus. To test this, pregnant mice were administered IL-6 or saline during mid-gestation. Newborn mouse kidneys were analyzed using mRNA-seq, miRNA-seq and whole-genome bisulfite-seq (WGBS). Deciphering The Local Origins Of Neoliberalism In Central And Eastern Europe: The Example Of Lithuania, Jokubas Salyga

This article studies the local lineage of neoliberalism in Lithuania, examining its intellectual pedigree, early proponents and the structural shifts that facilitated its rise. The latter are attributed to the openings created by perestroika and the development of the communication network linking economists within the Reform Movement of Lithuania, émigré intellectuals and Hillsdale College in Michigan. Information exchanges produced within this network generated embryonic neoliberal ideas before 1991. The network also contributed to the establishment of an influential think tank, the Lithuanian Free Market Institute (LFMI), whose policy influence is illustrated by surveying monetary and pension privatisation reforms.

Local population decline has spread rapidly since 1970, with half of counties losing population between 2010 and 2020. The workhorse economic models point to net out-migration, likely driven by changing local economies and amenities, as the cause of this trend. However, we show that the share of counties with high net out-migration has not increased. Instead, falling fertility has caused migration rates that used to generate growth to instead result in decline. When we simulate county populations from 1970 to the present holding fertility at its initial level, only 10 percent of counties decline during the 2010s.

As everyone knows, trusts are often used to avoid or subvert different rules of law. To combat such avoidance, jurisdictions enacted anti-avoidance rules; yet many of these rules do not fully prevent trusts-based avoidance, or in some cases reflect some jurisdictions’ acceptance of such avoidance. We review the anti-avoidance rules applied by Canada, the US, the UK, Australia and New Zealand to try and stymie trusts-based avoidance in three subject areas: distribution of family property on divorce or separation, taxation of income accrued in settlor-controlled trusts, and means-tested eligibility for welfare benefits. Objectives: This study aims to better understand the perspectives of emergency medicine physicians’ on the role that state-mandated, topic-specific continuing medical education (CME) plays in addressing knowledge gaps, its relevance to current emergency practice, its reported burden and costs of CME activities to emergency physicians, and its perceived improvement in patient care. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was designed by the Coalition of Board-Certified Emergency Physicians (COBCEP) and distributed in February 2023 to all American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM)-certified physicians. The reception of Anglo-American contractual standards in droit civil countries is not as straightforward as it would seem at first glance. The language expressing notions such as “breach of contract,” “representations & warranties,” or “indemnities” cannot be merely copied into agreements subject to the law of droit civil countries. They need to be transposed thereto, i.e., rendered in terms of legal institutions characteristic of the legal systems of such countries, to achieve the same functional results as those achievable in the place of origin of such notions.

We introduce a novel approach for predicting running performance, designed to apply across a wide range of race distances (from marathons to ultras), elevation gains, and runner types (front-pack to back of the pack). To achieve this, the entire running logs of 15 runners, encompassing a total of 15,686 runs, were analyzed using two approaches: (1) regression and (2) time series regression (TSR). First, the prediction accuracy of a long short-term memory (LSTM) network was compared using both approaches. The regression approach demonstrated superior performance, achieving an accuracy of 89.13% in contrast, the TSR approach reached an accuracy of 85.21%. …

Despite the worsening health disparities among youth in detention during the COVID-19 pandemic, there has been minimal exploration into the pandemic experiences of detained youth and opportunities for pandemic mitigation. This paper analyzes the perspectives of youth in detention on the pandemic, including the effect of the pandemic on their detention experience and their perceptions about COVID-19 vaccination. The study used purposive sampling to recruit 16 participants (aged 14-17 years) from two juvenile detention centers in the urban Midwest. Incels (short for “involuntary celibates) are an online community of men who blame women for their reputed sexual and romantic failures. The misogyny of their worldview, called the blackpill, has inspired multiple instances of real-world violence against women. Alarmingly, we know little about the temporal processes whereby an incel goes from joining an online community to becoming deeply aligned (i.e., “fused”) with the group.
