This study investigates the transformation of Bubungan Tinggi, a traditional Banjar house with a high roof, into a modern home through the integration of modern facade design with traditional Bubungan Tinggi facade elements. Bubungan Tinggi is a monumental artifact in South Kalimantan representing the collective memory of the Banjar community with its distinctive typology and anatomy. With its unique typology and anatomy, this particular building has evolved into an iconic structure that symbolizes the collective memory of the Banjarese people.

Background: In implantology, piezosurgery is a novel and cutting-edge method of bone surgery. Various ultrasonic frequencies can be used for selective cutting, which preserves essential anatomical structures by only operating on solidified hard tissues. Piezoelectric osteotomy is a technique that can be used to precisely and safely prepare receptor sites for procedure implants, acquire bone grafts classified as autogenous (blocks and particles), perform osteotomies used for alveolar crest bone expansion, lift the maxillary sinus, and remove dental implants. Aim

Lake Manzala is a dynamic ecosystem, receiving enormous pollutants and wastewater that pose serious environmental threats and risks. Using integrated methods for environmental assessment in Lake Manzala, as an applied model, is what the current study aspires to achieve.

Methods

Sampling was carried out via 8 stations, covering the entire Lake during November 2022. Phytoplankton distribution and water quality index (WQI) were investigated.

Results and conclusions

A total of 60 phytoplankton taxa, belonging to five classes were obtained. Bacillariophyceae was the most productive (27 sp.) and predominated by Nitzschia. Cyanophyceae. Chlorophyceae, Dinophyceae and Euglenophyceae were detected and represented by …

Low back pain is a common complaint among adults. The facet joint is a major source of lumbar pain, and therapeutic facet injections have gained popularity as a minimally invasive treatment option. In addition, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) utilization for diagnosing low back pain has increased significantly over the past few decades. Facet synovitis is an entity characterized by edema and inflammatory changes affecting the facet joints, adjacent bone marrow, and surrounding soft tissues. Standards are integral to engineers’ information needs, yet their complexity and uniqueness poses an instruction and outreach challenge. This presentation details the redesign of a library guide on standards undertaken at the RIT Libraries. The focus of the redesign process was on effectively transmitting information on standards to the RIT community at the point of need, detailing what standards are available through library and other sources, how other standards can be requested and acquired, and how engineers and engineering students can work with standards.

Background

Health science librarians frequently engage in discussions about the proper assignment of systematic reviews for graduate students. Such reviews are often assigned as a way to build the research skills students will need in a clinical environment and provide them with a publishable deliverable. In the assignment of these reviews, it has become apparent that health science faculty are often not familiar with the standardized methodologies required. Incorrect methodologies can contribute to research waste and produce evidence that cannot be applied for its intended purpose.

Oak wilt disease, caused by the fungus Bretziella fagacearum, can kill mature red oaks within months of infection, severely affecting biodiversity, landscapes, and industries. The disease, originally only present in the United States, was officially reported for the first time in Canada in June 2023. The aim of this study was to suggest a standardized assay and sample processing method to optimize oak wilt detection both in infection centers and ahead of the disease front. Magnesium phosphate cement-based ultra-high-performance concrete (MPC-UHPC) develops strength rapidly but shows unsatisfactory ultimate strength (<150 >MPa). In this study, ultrafine fly ash (UFA) was incorporated in MPC-UHPC to improve mechanical properties. The effect of UFA content, varying from 0 % to 15 %, by weight of binder, on microstructure, fiber pullout behavior, mechanical strengths, flexural and tensile properties of MPC-UHPC reinforced with 2 vol% steel fibers was investigated. Experimental results indicate that the incorporation of 10 %–15 % UFA with mean particle size of 1.4 µm was effective in reducing porosity and microcracks of binder matrix and fiber–matrix interface, thereby …

We review the functioning and sustainability of coastal marshes and mangroves. Urbanized humans have a 7,000-year-old enduring relationship to coastal wetlands. Wetlands include marshes, salt flats, and saline and freshwater forests. Coastal wetlands occur in all climate zones but are most abundant in deltas. Mangroves are tropical, whereas marshes occur from tropical to boreal areas. Quantification of coastal wetland areas has advanced in recent years but is still insufficiently accurate. Climate change and sea-level rise are predicted to lead to significant wetland losses and other impacts on coastal wetlands and the humans associated with them. Work-related violence (WRV) against public health professionals is increasingly prevalent worldwide but received much greater attention during the COVID-19 pandemic. This qualitative study addressed a gap in the literature by exploring public health professionals' experiences with WRV threats, what factors contributed to their vulnerability, and the severity of these threats during the COVID-19 pandemic from 2020 to 2023. Rogers' (1975) Protection Motivation Theory was the conceptual framework for phenomenological study. Twelve public health professionals, both male and female, including epidemiologists, nurses, physicians, researchers/scientists, and community health workers, who actively worked during the COVID-19 pandemic and were residents of New York …

This study examined the trends in opioid-related hospitalizations and deaths in Ontario, Canada, from 2015, to 2021, with a particular focus on the periods before and after cannabis legalization. The social problem addressed was the ongoing opioid crisis, exacerbated by rising opioid-related health issues. Grounded in the harm reduction theory, this research explored whether cannabis legalization could serve as a substitute to mitigate opioid use disorder. Data were extracted from the Discharge Database, Emergency Department Database, National Ambulatory Care Reporting System, and Hospital Morbidity Database. Social workers and other specialized staff employed at U.S. public libraries work daily to de-escalate and provide crisis response to socially vulnerable patrons. However, there was a gap in cohesive and generalizable information regarding how specialized program staff respond to patrons’ psychological crises. The aim of this qualitative force field analysis study was to identify and document a model procedure for library staff to implement during a customer crisis. The Pterourus glaucus complex in three southern New England states is analyzed for cryptic speciation. What was historically considered to be one species, P. glaucus (Linnaeus, 1758), was recently split to separate P. canadensis (Rothschild & Jordan, 1906) at species rank (Hagen et al., 1991). Additionally, P. appalachiensis Pavulaan & Wright, 2002, was described as an Appalachian Mountain endemic.
