The Ghost In The Machine: The Threat Screening Center And The Mootness Tool, Jeffrey Kahn Oct 2024

The Ghost In The Machine: The Threat Screening Center And The Mootness Tool, Jeffrey Kahn

Scholarly Articles in Law Reviews & Journals

In FBI v. Fikre, the Supreme Court resolved a circuit split about the voluntary cessation exception to the mootness doctrine in what initially appears to be a plaintiff-friendly way. The Court unanimously held that the government’s “sparse declaration” was insufficient to moot lawsuits challenging the No Fly List (a list of people banned from aircraft). The declaration failed to show that the government “cannot reasonably be expected to do again in the future what it is alleged to have done in the past.” It stated only that Fikre “will not be placed on the No Fly List in the …

Exploring South Texas Teachers’ Perceptions Of Challenges Implementing Blended Learning Into Their Classrooms, Lisa Mischelle Watts

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

Blended learning (BL), also known as hybrid or flipped classroom learning, is a method that involves both traditional face-to-face teaching and online media instruction. The problem experienced in South Texas school districts (STSD), despite research showing evidence of the BL model’s benefits, is that some teachers are struggling to implement BL into their classrooms. The purpose of this qualitative study was to explore STSD teachers’ perceptions of the challenges and support needed to incorporate BL into their classrooms. The conceptual frameworks that supported this study were Davis’s technology acceptance model and Bloom’s digital taxonomy. For this basic qualitative design, six …

Sustainability Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, And Threats And Pestel Analysis For Special District Revenue Generation, Toyasha Sebbag

Walden Dissertations and Doctoral Studies

This study addresses the ability of the client organization to create new programming that is separate from its general fund and is revenue-neutral because the client organization is a conservation district operating under the California Water Code Division 21 Sections 74000-76501. The constraint of California Proposition 13’s property tax rate increases makes it difficult for the client organization to fund new programming. To overcome these limitations, the multiple streams framework (MSF) and the s/SWOT and PESTEL frameworks were used to analyze the role of policy entrepreneurs and address potential limitations in the client organization’s creation of new programming, ensuring sustainability …

Reimagining Crisis Management With An Organizational Learning Framework, Erika J. Schneider

Media Studies - All Scholarship

Technological advancements have altered the landscape of crisis management, making many crises potentially preventable and controllable. Moreover, these technological advancements have provided opportunities for organizations to implement an informed learning approach in crisis responses.
