Addressing Teacher Stress Levels And Teacher Sense Of Efficacy During New Curriculum Implementation: An Improvement Science Study, Bryan Dyer

Doctor of Education (EdD)

This study explored teacher stress levels and sense of efficacy within an innovative curriculum implementation process which sought to reduce teacher stress. This Improvement Science Dissertation in Practice (ISDiP) followed two 90-day improvement cycles using a Plan, Do, Study, Act framework, overseen by a Networked Improvement Community (NIC) that met regularly throughout the study.

The NIC was comprised of building administrators, general education teachers, special education teachers, and reading specialists. Its role was to identify a problem of practice, create a theory of improvement, implement the solution drivers and collect data related to its implementation, making adjustments to the plan …

Mobility In The Middle Ages - Literary Evidence As A Mental Map For Travel Imaginations: A Critical Reconsideration Of Modern Myths About The Past, Albrecht Classen Nov 2024

Mobility In The Middle Ages - Literary Evidence As A Mental Map For Travel Imaginations: A Critical Reconsideration Of Modern Myths About The Past, Albrecht Classen

Quidditas

Literary fantasy has often served as a meaningful reflection of historical, material, or political developments, and events. This also applies to many works from the European Middle Ages. While popular opinion continues to assume that most medieval people were home-bound, the very opposite can almost be claimed, especially for the late Middle Ages. After the Crusades, the stream of pilgrims to the Holy Land grew tremendously, but many other people were on the roads as well, whether for economic, religious, or political reasons. Constructive contacts between West and East only developed in the course in time, but the basic foundations …

Residential Solar Power: An Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis Of The Consumer Decision Process Regarding Solar Adoption In The Low-Energy-Cost / Low-Solar-Exposure Pacific Northwest, Steven W. Schmidt Nov 2024

Residential Solar Power: An Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis Of The Consumer Decision Process Regarding Solar Adoption In The Low-Energy-Cost / Low-Solar-Exposure Pacific Northwest, Steven W. Schmidt

Doctor of Business Administration (DBA)

The energy-supply industry is faced with aggregate global energy demand growth associated with the simultaneous impact of worldwide increasing population and decreasing poverty (with its associated increased access to energy choices), thus, increasing both total and per capita world-wide energy usage. Concomitant with energy demand growth, though, there are widening and deepening concerns among many regarding the impact of energy-related pollution, which is accompanied by an associated, growing interest in clean, renewable sources of energy. In this milieu, solar energy has provided a rapidly growing supply of power solutions (though still a small overall proportion).

The intent for this doctoral …

Measuring Soil Salinity, Department Of Primary Industries And Regional Development, Western Australia Nov 2024

Measuring Soil Salinity, Department Of Primary Industries And Regional Development, Western Australia

Natural resources factsheets

To make sound decisions on managing saline sites, you need to know the source of salt, how salinisation is occurring, the landscape context, and most importantly, the actual salt concentration of the soil.

The most common 'measures' of salt concentration are actually estimates based on electrical conductivity of a soil and water solution. Soil salt content can be measured in a laboratory by measuring the total dissolved solids in a sample. In the field, salt concentration can also be estimated using electromagnetic induction-based soil sensors.

All NMU Master's Theses

There exist a multitude of computational tools available to mathematicians, such as interactive and automated theorem provers, finite counter-example generators, and computer algebra systems, most of which have a complicated installation process, unintuitive syntax, a lack of comprehensiveness for mathematical structures, or some combination of these. Computer algebra systems are indispensable tools due to their capacity for creating mathematical objects and performing computations on them. However, there is a lack of computational resources that focus on dealing with explicit examples, and extracting the properties thereof, especially for the most basic algebraic structures. Here, we will dive into several prominent computer …

Why Geological Angular Unconformity Is Usually Horizontal: A Geometric Explanation, Julio C. Urenda, Aaron Velasco, Olga Kosheleva, Vladik Kreinovich

Departmental Technical Reports (CS)

In several locations, geologists have observed the presence of two differently oriented rock masses, one horizonal (or almost horizontal) and the other somewhat inclined; this phenomenon is known as angular unconformity. Based on the detailed analysis of geophysical processes, geologists conclude that usually, horizontal rock masses are much newer. This is known as the law of original horizontality. From the fundamental viewpoint, it is desirable to take into account that geophysics is a developing science, its models get modified and adjusted as time progresses. It is therefore desirable to come up with an explanation of this phenomenon that would be …

The Impact Of Depression And Anxiety On Emotional Facial Recognition, Gracie J. Buck, Mckensey P. Malin, Emma Chacon, Abbey Fies Nov 2024

The Impact Of Depression And Anxiety On Emotional Facial Recognition, Gracie J. Buck, Mckensey P. Malin, Emma Chacon, Abbey Fies

Science University Research Symposium (SURS)

Anxiety and depression are widespread mental health disorders that elicit prolonged tension, uneasiness, and low moods (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2024; American Psychological Association). These mental health conditions have been known to influence cognitive and perceptual processes (Perin et al., 2022). Multiple studies have found evidence that depression and/or anxiety create a heightened issue of misinterpreting facial and emotional cues (Kang et al., 2019; Monferrer et al., 2023). Notably, People with anxiety have a higher rate of sensitivity and/or error when shown a face with an angry expression (Kang et al., 2019), while people with depression have …

Beyond Engineering: Unleashing The Universal Benefits Of Makerspaces For All Disciplines, Cath Bruhnke Nov 2024

Beyond Engineering: Unleashing The Universal Benefits Of Makerspaces For All Disciplines, Cath Bruhnke

Presentations

The Adobe Studio & Makerspace at Clemson serves students from over fifty-six programs in addition to our engineering program. We collected data from the logs students fill out when logging their equipment use and found that during the '23-’24 academic year, over half of the visitors were from non-engineering programs. We have learned from our discussions with students that word of mouth is a significant factor in bringing new students to our space. With consistent outreach to faculty and staff, we hope to get more non-engineering classes for Adobe Studio & Makerspace tours.
