The UPS Prototype was a proof-of-concept web portal built in preparation for the Universal Preprint Service Meeting held in October 1999 in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The portal provided search functionality for a set of metadata records that had been aggregated from a range of repositories that hosted preprints, working papers, and technical reports. Every search result was overlaid with a dynamically generated menu, called an SFX-menu, that provided a selection of value-adding links for the described scholarly work. This paper presents an efficient implementation of a linear-solver kernel relevant to FUN3D, a suite of computational fluid dynamics software developed at NASA’s Langley Research Center. The linear solver is optimized for a range of block sizes commonly used in FUN3D. The implementation targets Aurora, the Argonne Leadership Computing Facility’s (ALCF) exascale machine featuring Intel Data Center Max 1550 GPUs. The linear solver’s performance is memory bandwidth-bound due to its low arithmetic intensity. The primary performance challenges stem from variable matrix row lengths and indirect memory access patterns inherent in unstructured-grid applications. Animal African Trypanosomiasis (AAT) transmitted by the Glossina spp is a major constraint to livestock production in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) despite various control efforts. Trypanosome-induced semiochemicals found in urine of infected cattle are predictive AAT biomarkers with potential for use as baits for tsetse trapping enhancement. The objective of this study was to investigate the urine from trypanosome infected cow and its modified semiochemicals as effective attractants for infected Glossina pallidipes with an economical dispenser for field application. La estirpe constructiva de las láminas plegadas de grandes luces se re-vela en el Centro de Fermentación de Tabaco en Candeleda, construido por el arquitecto Ramón Canosa de los Cuetos junto al ingeniero agrónomo José Benítez Vélez, entre 1960 y 1963. El complejo fabril al que se refiere esta investigación se adapta muy escrupulosamente a un pro-ceso agroindustrial concreto, propio de la zona y la época, pero lo relevante es el esfuerzo estructural e iconográfico de la respuesta arquitectónica, una propuesta técnica eminentemente innovadora.

In this paper, we propose a new approach to train deep learning models using game theory concepts including Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) and Adversarial Training (AT) where we deploy a double-oracle framework using best response oracles. GAN is essentially a two-player zero-sum game between the generator and the discriminator. The same concept can be applied to AT with attacker and classifier as players. Training these models is challenging as a pure Nash equilibrium may not exist and even finding the mixed Nash equilibrium is difficult as training algorithms for both GAN and AT have a large-scale strategy space. Though large code models significantly outperform their smaller counterparts, around 70% of displayed code completions from Github Copilot are not accepted by developers. In numerous cases, companies undertake logo redesigns to enhance brand perception. However, little attention has been paid to the impact of each element of the redesigned logo on visual attention and brand perception. To address this research gap, we collected data from eye tracking and self-report questionnaires of 30 participants during exposure to the old and new logos of a prominent bookstore in Indonesia. The results of the questionnaires revealed a significant relationship between the responses concerning color, shape, typeface, and those pertaining to visual attention (p < 0.05). Most participants were able to grasp the value of creativity, flexibility, progress, change, and strength in the new logo shape. The results of eye tracking show that color was the most influential factor that attracted visual attention in old (F(1.5, 43.4) = 14.905, p < 0.05) and new logos (F(1.7, 50) = 34.757, p < 0.05). This study suggests that companies should selectively choose a color scheme of a logo that better attracts the attention of consumers. In addition, our finding is promising as a practical guide for similar research, as well as a case study on how logo redesign affects brand perception and visual attention.
