Philosophers have long been debating the moral justifiability of punishment. However, they have seemingly ignored the adjacent question concerning the moral justifiability of incarceration, as demonstrated by the dearth of philosophical work on prison abolitionism. This silence is puzzling, given that, on closer examination, many philosophers implicitly (or even explicitly) endorse the core assumptions of prison abolitionism. By discussing some examples in the recent literature in philosophy of punishment, I argue that philosophers support prison abolitionism in practice, but not in theory. BACKGROUND: Chilling injury (CI) in Japanese plums (Prunus salicina Lindell) is a critical cold storage constraint that adversely impacts fruit quality and marketability. An individual participant data (IPD) meta-analysis can assess the predictive value of data on outcomes at the individual level, offering a potential tool for developing personalized pain management. Purpose: In the past decade, diagnostic criteria for developmental language disorder, guidelines for assessment of multilingual children, and reviews of the diagnostic utility of dynamic assessment have been published. It is unknown how Australian speech-language pathologists currently assess multilingual children or how local factors influence assessment. While the power to order an apology is not in doubt, whether courts should order an apology involves complex legal, ethical and practical considerations. Drawing on recent human rights cases, the article offers a view on how the courts have addressed the tension that arises in ordering an apology against a reluctant litigant despite recognising the role of an apology in redressing the grievance. The preponderance of judicial authority leans away from ordering an apology against a reluctant litigant; the court is also not disposed to ordering an apology against a public officer who is reluctant to give one.

BACKGROUND: Anticoagulant rodenticides (ARs) are used globally to manage pest rodent populations. However, resistance to ARs in target rodent populations challenges pest control efforts and can increase risks to nontarget species. Resistance is frequently associated with nonsynonymous single nucleotide polymorphisms (nsSNPs) in the Vkorc1 gene, and this study carried out the first Vkorc1 survey of introduced rats on the Australian mainland. Higher habitual intakes of dietary flavonoids have been linked with a lower risk of all-cause mortality and major chronic disease. Yet, the contribution of diversity of flavonoid intake to health outcomes remains to be investigated. Here, using a cohort of 124,805 UK Biobank participants, we show that participants who consumed the widest diversity of dietary flavonoids, flavonoid-rich foods and/or specific flavonoid subclasses had a 6–20% significantly lower risk of all-cause mortality and incidence of cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, cancer, respiratory disease and neurodegenerative disease. Saxophonists experience a high rate of performance-related injuries and wellbeing concerns, with limited research on player perspectives and lived experience to inform preventive or interventional methods. To address this gap, a cohort study was conducted with 14 saxophonists from around Australia, to gather perspectives and experiences on playing-related pain, injury, health, and wellbeing. This study evaluated the phytoremediation potential of pot marigolds on green wall systems for removing soil cadmium. The experiment was a factorial arrangement in a randomized complete block design. The first factor was cadmium (0, 1, 2, and 3 mg/kg soil), and the second was seven single or mixed plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria (PGPR) and the control treatments. We investigated the relationship between parent and child mental health, including parents’ general psychological distress, among refugees resettled in Australia. We utilised longitudinal data from a sample (N = 602 children and 377 parents) of recently settled refugees from the Building a New Life in Australia Survey). Parent psychological distress and post-traumatic stress symptoms (PTSS) were measured by the Kessler 6 and PTSD-8, respectively. This dataset was created for the evaluation of the EmbSCU method, suitable for solving the Scene Change Understanding (SCU) task. The SCU task involves predicting a changed location, describing a change, and generating language instructions for the robotic agent to revert a change. Current datasets, related to scene change understanding, can be divided into scene change detection (SCD) and image difference captioning (IDC) datasets. Unlike existing approaches, EmbSCU facilitates simultaneous change detection, description and language-based rearrangement instruction generation for the agent to revert changes. The SAOM dataset is tailored for segmentation in dynamic embodied environments, focusing on interactable objects. Unlike static-object datasets, the objects in SAOM can undergo transformations, such as being opened, closed, or moved.

Using the expert opinion survey, participants were asked to evaluate the initial list of indicators based on five aspects of sustainability, including economic, socio-cultural, environmental, political and technological sustainability for each stakeholder group.
