Effective monitoring of tenofovir (TFV) adherence is critical for ensuring the success of antiretroviral therapies in preventing and managing HIV, as nonadherence can lead to treatment failure and the development of drug-resistant strains. In this study, a highly sensitive and selective novel biomimetic sensor for TFV determination is developed utilizing laser-scribed graphene (LSG) modified with gold spiky nanostructures (AuNSp) and molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP). The MIP layer is engineered with precise control to maximize molecular specificity for TFV. Instead, research was done on the genes associated with Fibroids. Fibroids are commonly characterized as benign tumors that typically form in the wall of the uterus. Fibroid symptoms usually include heavy menstrual bleeding, prolonged periods, and pelvic pain. In some cases, there are no symptoms. Statistically, fibroids affect 20–30% of women ages 30–50. Knee Osteoarthritis (KOA) is a degenerative joint condition characterized by the progressive narrowing of joint space and structural deterioration. The structural degradation of the joint space is evaluated using the Kellgren–Lawrence (KL) grading system, and accurate classification across all grades, specifically in the early stages, remains a challenge owing to subtle radiographic differences. This study presents an automated KL-grade classification framework that integrates joint edge enhancement with deep learning to improve KOA grading using radiographic images.

Fiber-reinforced composites (FRCs) are widely used in aerospace, automotive, and other engineering applications due to their lightweight characteristics and superior mechanical properties. Traditional FRCs employ a fixed fiber orientation in each layer, and while different layup sequences can tailor performance, the mechanical properties remain spatially uniform. Tow-steered composites, which enable fibers to follow curvilinear paths, offer the potential for spatially varying stiffness and strength, improving structural performance.

This dissertation examined the beliefs and perceptions of high school teachers and principals in two rural, Midwestern states to discover what they believed about the purpose and process of determining students’ grades. The aim of the research was to discover the discrepancies between stakeholders’ beliefs about grading and the implications of these discrepancies for policy and practice. A qualitative approach involving one focus group comprised of four principals, one focus group of four teachers, and two follow-up interviews with individual teachers was used to discover teachers’ and principal’s beliefs surrounding grades. The “MUM effect," a social phenomenon in which people prefer to avoid sharing bad news, can cause “upward distortion,” as employees give incomplete information to their supervisors to avoid reprisal. Organizations require upward communication to transmit critical information, and disruptions to this process have implications for both workplace efficiency and job satisfaction. Strauss (2011) developed the Upward Communication Distortion Index (UCDI) to measure the propensity of individuals to distort upward organizational communication. As instructional coaching roles have evolved, many school districts continue to rely on teacher-based evaluation tools, creating a gap in the effective support and development of instructional coaches. In the Franklin Ridge Community School District (FRCSD), a pseudonym, both instructional coaches and their supervisors reported that the existing evaluation tool was misaligned with role expectations. This study examined how instructional coaches and their evaluators collectively co-refined the New Evaluation Tool (NET) to provide more role-specific and meaningful feedback. This study explored the lived experiences of Native American undergraduate students at a small Midwestern university, with particular attention to how identity development, systemic challenges, and culturally grounded support systems shape their academic and personal paths. Using a phenomenological approach paired with an autoethnographic lens, this research amplifies Native student voices while drawing on the reflections of the Indigenous researcher who shares similar lived experiences. This study presents an integrated geospatial framework for understanding grassland productivity dynamics and livestock movement behavior across the Mongolian steppe. Mongolia’s grasslands constitute one of the world’s largest pastoral ecosystems, yet they face increasing vulnerability due to climate variability, overgrazing, and land degradation. To quantify vegetation change and grazing responses, this research combines multi-decadal remote sensing with high-frequency GPS-based livestock movement tracking. This study aims to assess the lower limit of porosity that can be achieved in freeze-cast sintered lithium titanate (LTO) materials while maintaining the characteristic pore directionality. LTO materials were fabricated with solid loading varying in the range of 30–37 vol.%. Sucrose and cationic dispersant were used to vary viscosity and total solute concentration in the aqueous LTO suspensions. Two series of suspension compositions were selected for freeze-casting. This research introduces a new multi-degree-of-freedom metastructure concept utilizing a hybrid position feedback controller. An arbitrary number of bistable segments, or structural elements, are connected serially or in parallel to form a distributed bistable structure, or a so-called metastructure. The hybrid controller, an unstable-then-stable second-order single-degree-of-freedom system, leverages the resonant mode of a bistable system to destabilize it and dynamically induce snap-through between equilibria. The metastructure inherits multiple bistable positions, maintaining equilibrium shapes without consuming power and enabling many equilibrium configurations. Critics of the Roberts Court assert that the conservative justices are remaking American democracy to implement a corrupt Republican agenda. Conversely, the justices claim to be following originalism, with democratic transformation as an incidental side effect. These views share no common ground, and there is little space left for fruitful dialogue. This Article breaks this impasse by identifying the functional democratic theory driving the Court: populist primacy. Populist primacy allocates power to the rank-and-file constituency and sweeps away institutions that moderate popular will. By positing that democracy consists of conflict between self-motivating actors, populist primacy adopts a structurally minimalist vision …

This Note addresses a growing tension in environmental law between state and local authorities, focusing on the doctrine of field preemption as applied to New York environmental law. Using the Glen Oaks litigation as a case study, this Note argues that field preemption—where laws from a higher government authority implicitly nullify lower-level ones—threatens the effectiveness of environmental governance at the state and local levels.
