This thesis examines the nature of guest interactivity in themed entertainment, considering best practices when approaching the creation of an interactive theme park offering with the belief that narrative interactivity and guest agency increases the potential for meaningful, memorable, and engaging entertainment experiences. Taking both established literature and existing offerings into consideration, this thesis presents an original creative narrative design concept for a Halloween haunt event overlay, titled Fear the Unknown, that enhances the guest experience with an emphasis on interactivity and agency. Restrictions on the commercial exercise of Indigenous fishing rights are plentiful across the U.S. and Australia. They have particular force and prevalence for Indigenous communities residing in the sites of the first colonies in both nations. This note exposes the common history underlying the diminished rights in these regions and argues the situation amounts to a critical environmental injustice. It follows that environmental justice advocates and scholars should embrace and advance the more encompassing iteration of Indigenous fishing rights urged by this note and support their restoration as a form of corrective justice for these communities.

Multi-objective routing has been studied for over forty years, yet its application to the bike routing problem is a relatively recent development. The Multi-Objective Bike Routing Problem (MOBRP) seeks to optimize a set of bike routes from a single source to a single destination, given multiple cost criteria. This paper makes two primary contributions. First, it consolidates existing research on the MOBRP, including the criteria chosen and associated cost functions, the search algorithms used, and the testing setups and metrics used for evaluation. With increased focus on interprofessional collaboration in healthcare and education, best practices for patient and student care are often top priority. However, little is known about the effectiveness of using team-based approaches when working with children with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This study examined professionals' perspectives on their team practices, burnout, and attitudes towards collaboration. Additionally, the research looked at practitioners’ ability to identify their team. Relationship satisfaction has been shown to have a powerful effect on both individual psychological well-being and psychological distress. One factor that influences an individual’s relationship satisfaction is their endorsement of romantic beliefs. This finding has not been replicated in the U.S. in the past 20 years and the influence of romantic beliefs on relationship satisfaction, psychological well-being, and psychological distress has not been studied in depth. Childbirth dissatisfaction, defined as a woman’s negative evaluation of the labor and delivery experience, is common and can have significant consequences for women and their infants, particularly in terms of maternal functioning. Given that childbirth satisfaction is related to maternal functioning in the postpartum period, a better understanding of modifiable factors that could be targeted to bolster maternal functioning is warranted. Black women living in the rural South experience disproportionately high rates of hypertension, gestational diabetes, excessive gestational weight gain, and adverse birth outcomes. Although physical activity during pregnancy is known to improve maternal and fetal health, Black pregnant women remain less likely to meet recommended activity guidelines. This qualitative study examined the perceptions, beliefs, and multilevel factors influencing physical activity during pregnancy and the postpartum period among Black women in rural Southeast Georgia. We give a sufficient condition in order for the class of Gorenstein flat modules to be preenveloping. More precisely, we prove that if the ring R is coherent such that every injective module has finite flat dimension, then every R-module has a Gorenstein flat preenvelope.

This thesis uses state-of-the-art models to explore three core areas: AI-driven video content creation, text-to-image-to-text consistency, and automatic text summarization. The first study investigates the potential of AI-powered text-to-video generation to democratize video production and enhance storytelling. By comparing the performance of three models—ModelScope, Text2Video (Zero), and Motion Consistency—this study assessed the quality of generated videos using CLIP scores. Significant portions of the states in FEMA region 7 (Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, and Iowa) were in drought in 2022–23. Culling data gathered from a prominent social media platform and from focus group discussions, this research examines how drought information was communicated between the public officials and the general public. Through the lens of the two-step flow of communication theory, the central research question explored the differences between public conversations about drought among individuals experiencing it and the viewpoints of experts who work on drought-related issues. Since 2004, Abriendo Oportunidades^® (Opening Opportunities, AO) has emerged as a gender transformative social program to support Indigenous girls and young women in Guatemala’s post-war context. Following an evidence-based, community-anchored approach, AO began as a program and has evolved into a social movement. AO has continuously demonstrated its impact in reducing girls’ exposure to gender-based violence and pioneered alternative education through utilizing mentors as tutors. Over time, AO has successfully reached more than 25,000 Indigenous girls and adolescents across 500+ rural Guatemala communities and built a pathway of professional opportunities for the young women who lead the program. Suicidal behaviors among LGBTQIA+ individuals, particularly in the context of substance misuse, present a significant area of exploration for mental health research and intervention. It is particularly important to evaluate factors capable of moderating this relationship, to promote more culturally affirming prevention models. This study aimed to explore the moderating roles of emotion regulation (ER) and psychological flexibility in the relationship between substance misuse and suicidal behaviors within the LGBTQIA+ community. Social science scholarship acknowledges that disparities affecting Black people in the United States are rooted in historical race-based oppression (Black & Stone, 2005; Borell, Barnes, & McCreanor, 2018; Harrell, 2000; Mills, 1997). Yet little is understood about the ways Black people psychologically experience being denied the social privileges conferred upon Whites (i.e., White privilege). The belief that White privilege exists, along with the perceptions that Black people as a group are systematically deprived of benefits conferred upon Whites, could expose Black people to negative psychological and psychosocial experiences.
