Classical computing models have proven sufficient for problems of the complexity class ``P", but problems of a higher complexity class like ``NP", ``NP-Hard", etc. have been shown to be more resistant to efficient computation. Quantum Computing is an alternative computing model that specifically targets performing computations within the ``NP" complexity class in close to linear time. However, Quantum Computing has its own set of problems. Long Oligos: Direct Chemical Synthesis Of Genes With Up To 1728 Nucleotides, Yipeng Yin, Reed Arneson, Yinan Yuan, Shiyue Fang

The longest oligos that can be chemically synthesized are considered to be 200-mers. Here, we report direct synthesis of an 800-mer green fluorescent protein gene and a 1728-mer Φ29 DNA polymerase gene on an automated synthesizer. Key innovations that enabled this breakthrough include conducting the synthesis on a smooth surface rather than within the pores of traditional supports, and the use of the powerful catching-by-polymerization (CBP) method for isolating the full-length oligos from a complex mixture. Conducting synthesis on a smooth surface not only eliminated the steric hindrance that would otherwise prevent long oligo assembly, but also, surprisingly, drastically reduced …

In this dissertation innovative field-intensifying electric machine configurations have been explored, emphasizing advanced topologies, computational modeling, and optimization techniques to advance the state of the art in electric machine design and analysis.

Emotion dysregulation is a common issue among college students with ADHD, and emotion dysregulation in adults with ADHD is associated with many negative outcomes including higher levels of psychological distress and social impairment, poorer functioning at school and work, greater symptoms of anxiety and depression, and lower quality of life. Past work suggests that physical exercise can be useful in treating core ADHD symptoms for children and adolescents with ADHD, but less is known about its effects for young adults with ADHD. Hospital-acquired pressure Injuries (HAPIs) are a “never event” and a nursing quality indicator closely monitored by hospitals. Pressure injury prevention strategies have been widely researched and used to reduce HAPI rates; however, despite this research, HAPI rates, especially in the intensive care unit (ICU), remain high. Prevention is a complex, individualized process that requires nursing understanding and application. Wound, Ostomy, and Continence nurses (WOC nurses) are specially trained and certified in wound management and can provide tremendous clinical insight into risk and prevention factors. This integrative review examines whether WOC nurse rounding in the ICU reduces HAPI rates.

Background: New graduate nurses (NGN) often struggle transitioning from school to practice, contributing to turnover and worsening the nursing shortage, especially post COVID-19. The ANA (2023) recommends robust preceptorship programs. Nurse Residency Programs (NRP) aim to improve competency, confidence, and retention. Objective: This integrative review examined the effectiveness of NRPs in preparing NGN for professional practice. Methods: A systematic search across five databases (2019 and 2024) was conducted using Whittemore & Knafl’s framework and Braun & Clarke’s thematic analysis. Nine studies met inclusion criteria. Results: Three themes emerged: standardized transition support, curriculum reform, and supportive practice environments. NRPs reduce transition …

Natural disasters are a problem for a country’s economy. This research aims to analyze the influence of natural disasters, Gross Fixed Capital Formation (GFCF), Human Development Index (HDI), and Labor Force Participation Rate (LFPR) on the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) of 31 Provinces in Indonesia from 2011 to 2023. Research method uses panel data regression with Fixed Effect Model estimation. The results of this research show that GFCF and HDI can increase value GRDP in Indonesia. LFPR does not have a significant effect in a positive direction on GRDP in Indonesia and natural disasters do not have a significant …

Poverty issues have always been in the world spotlight. Monetary poverty measurements are considered only to be able to capture a small part of the various poverty issues, so measurements involving multidimensions are needed. This study attempts to measure poverty based on multiple levels of deprivation experienced by people in Riau Province. This study uses aspects of health, education, and standard of living. The results of the study show that all indicators simultaneously have a significant impact on monetary poverty. These indicators are calorie and protein consumption, length of schooling, school sustainability, and housing-related indicators. In addition, differences were also …

This study aims to assess Indonesia’s readiness to implement carbon trading in 2025 to achieve net zero emissions by 2060. The research uses a mixed-method approach, combining literature review, multivariate linear regression, and Vector Error Correction Model (VECM). The results indicate that the Human Development Index (HDI) has a negative and significant impact on CO2 emissions in the long term. This impact is greater than the results observed in Singapore and Thailand. With established policies and a demographic bonus in 2045, optimizing human resources is crucial for achieving net zero emissions by 2060.
