Best Practices In Authentication And Verification Of Students In Online Education, Cheryl Mixon Smith, Sheri R. Noviello
International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)
Educators around the world are faced with increased cheating and plagiarism in college courses. Cheating has been considered a serious problem on college campuses for many years (Watson & Sottile, 2010). Universities with online programs are challenged to provide positive identification of students enrolled in online courses in response to the U.S. Higher Education Act. This act requires accrediting bodies to monitor the efforts of colleges and universities in this process. Although college students cheat in face-to-face classes, faculty and students feel the potential for online cheating is greater. However, the evidence shows that the mode of content delivery does …

Methods: Men receiving radiation treatment (n=83) completed the 39-item Functional Assessment of …
Nurses' Attitudes To Working With Older People In Acute Care, Anne-Marie Mahoney, David Beckett
Nurses' Attitudes To Working With Older People In Acute Care, Anne-Marie Mahoney, David Beckett
International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)
Purpose: There is little evidence that factors influencing attitudes to older persons have been investigated (Moyle 2003). Changes to service delivery models within acute health have meant that there has been an increase in Day of Surgery Admissions (DOSA) and a decrease in length of stay. Many younger patients are cared for in the community supported with funded programs. Therefore, in-patient populations in acute care are generally older, with greater acuity and increasing co-morbidities. Australia expects an increase from 4.3 million older persons in 2021 to around 6.8million in 2051 (Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS, 2008). Aim: The aim of …

PT are classified by size and hormonal productivity: Macroadenomas (MA) > 1cm and microadenomas (mA) < 1cm tumors; those producing excess hormonal secretions as functional adenomas (FA) and those with normal hormonal function as non-functional adenomas (NFA). Hormonal deficiencies can occur in association with all PTs. Patient complaints of cognitive dysfunction and QoL changes have been validated to occur in patients with hormonally active tumors, but not for patients with microadenomas and non-functional tumors.
Purpose: To determine if cognitive deficits are perceived by patients with NFmA when compared to patients with NFMA.
Methods: Cognitive function was evaluated using a modified, disease specific version of the FACT-Cog questionnaire, limited to perception of cognitive capacity. Perceived ability to learn and concentrate, distractibility, mental agility, factual and short term memory and …

Factors Related To Daily Life Interference In Lung Cancer Patients: A Cross-Sectional Regression Tree Study, Hsueh-Hsing Pan
International Nursing Research Congress (INRC)
Purpose: To identify the symptom combination patterns and symptom severity levels that induce severe symptom interference in daily life activities, including physical and psychological activity interference in lung cancer patients.
Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study using convenience sampling, 131 participants were recruited at a medical center in northern Taiwan. The Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status was used to assess performance status, and the Taiwanese version of the M.D. Anderson Symptom Inventory (MDASI-T) was used to assess symptom severity and symptom interference in daily life activities including physical and psychological activities. Regression tree models were applied to examine variable …
