Cost-Effective Asthma Treatments For Uninsured Or Underinsured Pediatric Patients, Karlen E. (Beth) Luthy, Emilianne Dougall, Renea L. Beckstrand Sep 2012

Cost-Effective Asthma Treatments For Uninsured Or Underinsured Pediatric Patients, Karlen E. (Beth) Luthy, Emilianne Dougall, Renea L. Beckstrand

Faculty Publications

Nurse practitioners should constantly compare a medication's potential effect with its associated cost, thus identifying the most cost-effective treatment plan. Such an approach is warranted for both pediatric and adult patients. Prescribing medications for children who are uninsured or underinsured can be especially challenging, particularly for those patients diagnosed with a chronic health condition requiring routine treatment and follow-up. Asthma can be such a chronic illness for which the cost associated with treatment may become a barrier to compliance with the treatment plan. Cost-effective treatment options for asthma in the pediatric patient are presented.

Ballistic Flash Characterization Of Entry-Side Flash, David J. Peyton Sep 2012

Ballistic Flash Characterization Of Entry-Side Flash, David J. Peyton

Theses and Dissertations

Aircraft survivability is a broad subject that encompasses many fields and subjects. An important part of aircraft survivability is fire prevention. Flashes created by ballistic impacts are a very real threat to aircraft because they can start fires or cause explosions. In an effort to better protect against these flashes, this study seeks to further the understanding and characterization of them. Recent research on this subject has been greatly helped by the use of high-speed video footage of flash events. This footage has led to new algorithms and methodologies for how to characterize a flash. A preliminary predictive model of …

Copyrights In The Stream: The Battle On Webcasting, Eldar Haber

Santa Clara High Technology Law Journal

The Internet threatens many right holders who consistently battle against technologies that enable people to use their copyrighted materials without their consent. While copyright holders have succeeded in some cases, their main battle against peer-to-peer (P2P) file-sharing has yet to be resolved. Another technology that threatens right holders’ business models, especially in the film industry, is the distribution of their content freely via webcasting. This Article examines copyright and …

Memories Of Us Imperialism Narratives Of The Homeland In Filipino And Puerto Rican Homes In The United States, Faye C. Caronan Sep 2012

Memories Of Us Imperialism Narratives Of The Homeland In Filipino And Puerto Rican Homes In The United States, Faye C. Caronan

Philippine Studies: Historical and Ethnographic Viewpoints

Thisarticle examines how institutionalized histories of the US as a benevolent colonial power are reproduced in Filipino and Puerto Rican homes in the United States, facilitated by parents’ adherence to these histories. However, US imperialism is justified differently: in the Philippines, through a narrative of rescue from Spain and the brutality of Japan as well as the gifts of democratic institutions; in Puerto Rico, through a narrative of cultural nationalism that foregrounds cultural independence and displaces the question of political independence. The performance poets in this study developed alternative histories and their associated artistic expressions in college rather than at …
