Empirical Model For The Transconductance-Current Dependence Of Short-Channel Mosfets, Vladimir I. Prodanov

Electrical Engineering

This work is concerned with the g_m-I dependence of sub-micrometer MOSFETs. The transconductance-current expression given by the Advanced Compact Model (ACM) is reviewed and simple modification is proposed. The modification yields an expression which (with proper parametrization) captures the g_m-I dependence of short-channel MOSFETs. The proposed expression is “universal” in the sense that it is capable of modeling the g_m-I dependence of long-channel MOSFETs, short-channel MOSFETs, and resistively-degenerated BJTs.

Electrical and Computer Engineering Faculty Publications and Presentations

Continuous-time delta sigma (CT-ΔΣ) ADCs are established as the data conversion architecture of choice for the next-generation wireless applications. Several efforts have been made to simultaneously improve the bandwidth and dynamic range of ΔΣ ADCs. We proposed using two-step quantizer in a single-loop CT-ΔΣ modulator to achieve higher conversion bandwidth. This paper presents a tutorial for employing the design technique through a 130n CMOS implementation. The proposed 640 MS/s, 4^th order continuous-time delta sigma modulator (CT-ΔΣM) incorporates a two-step 5-bit quantizer, consisting of only 13 comparators. A 1 GS/s Continuous-time Delta-Sigma modulator (CT-ΔΣM) with 31 MHz bandwidth, 76.3 dB dynamic range and 72.5 dB signal-to-noise is reported in a 0.13μm CMOS technology. The design employs an excess loop delay (ELD) of more than one clock cycle for achieving higher sampling rate. The ELD is compensated using a fast-loop formed around the last integrator by using a sample-and-hold. Further, the effect of this ELD compensation scheme on the signal transfer function (STF) of a feedforward CT-ΔΣ architecture has been analyzed and reported. The experiment and lesson developed in this paper aim at dealing with the curse of knowledge, or the disharmony between what instructors believe they are teaching and what students are learning. This paper proposes that by adopting a beginner’s mind, instructors will be able to mitigate the disharmony. To adopt a beginner’s mind, an instructor must first recognize any priors he holds that will be important for understanding the topic that differ from the priors that students likely hold. Previous research has demonstrated mixed evidence on impaired memory functioning in autism spectrum disorder (ASD), with the only consensus that there appears to be much heterogeneity. In addition, no research to date has examined the stability of memory in ASD. This study examined the stability of memory function in ASD compared to typically developing age-matched controls. Participants were administered the Test of Memory and Learning (TOMAL) twice, three years apart, in an established longitudinal NIH-supported investigation of ASD. The first two centuries of bird study in Kansas essentially can be split into 50 year intervals since Zebulon Pike’s 1810 publication, an account of his explorations. The first 50 years were records of explorers crossing Kansas collecting bird specimens; many were Army doctors. The second half of the 19th Century was a continuation of explorers and those affiliated with museums obtaining bird specimens and the establishment of colleges and universities with faculty members also collecting birds and making observations. Urban systems are impacted by changes in hydrology and water chemistry, altering their ability to mitigate detrimental impacts to coastal water bodies, particularly those that result from high volumes of stormwater runoff. The elevated level of impervious cover increases not only runoff but also contaminant loading of nutrients, metals, and road salt used for deicing in cold weather climates. Current stormwater management strategies, while focused on managing the changes in hydrology associated with urbanization, also are designed to mitigate the pollutant loading. Through the generous support of Provost Geoffrey Mearns, the Kickstart service was purchased for Cleveland State University’s implementation of Digital Commons, EngagedScholarship@CSU. This outstanding service provided two types of resources to help our repository get off to a quick start. Since our training in early March 2012, we have already entered 1,191 documents and 94 associated SelectedWorks pages. We initially identified 10 departments/units on campus that produced abundant scholarly works. These departments and faculty were targeted for a scan for works in the Web of Knowledge.
