Franco's Children: Representations Of Franco-Era Childhood In Contemporary Spanish Literature And Cinema, Miaowei Weng

All Theses and Dissertations (ETDs)

This study explores the politicization of "Franco's children" in El sur : 1981;1983), El florido pensil : 1994), Habíamos ganado la guerra: 2007), and La gloria de los niños: 2007). The phrase "Franco's children," on the one hand, implies the status of the authors and filmmakers as those who survived the early Franco regime as children and recall their childhood as adults; on the other hand, it refers to the child protagonists in the selected works that are set in wartime and the post-War period. Library Philosophy and Practice (e-journal)

The study explored the provision of library services at the Nsawam Medium Security Prison in Ghana. Incarcerated people are confronted with isolation and are often faced with limitations of personal choices and quality decision making. The prison library is one of the few places that offer solace and escape in the extremely regulated lives of prisoners. The report is the result of a study into the information needs of prisoners and the resources and services that are available for this special population. A total of 100 male …

A Case For Undocumented Students In Higher Education: The Pursuit Of Social Justice In Oregon Senate Bill 742, Clara Martinez Aug 2012

A Case For Undocumented Students In Higher Education: The Pursuit Of Social Justice In Oregon Senate Bill 742, Clara Martinez

Quercus: Linfield Journal of Undergraduate Research

Should undocumented students be able to pay resident tuition rates at public universities? In the spring of 2011, the Oregon Senate introduced Senate Bill 742. The bill would allow undocumented students to pay resident tuition rates at the state's seven public universities. This article presents philosophical arguments in support of the bill by using the ideologies outlined in egalitarian and communitarian ideas. Moreover, the liberal ideas of political philosophers Robert Nozick and Friedrich Hayek present counterarguments to my thesis. Senate Bill 742 could help to rectify the injustice inherent in the college admissions system.
