Validitas Lingkar Lengan Atas Mendeteksi Risiko Kekurangan Energi Kronis Pada Wanita Indonesia, Diny Eva Ariyani, Endang Laksmining Achadi, Anies Irawati

Kesmas

Experimental And Computational Study Of Stresses On Outdoor Piping Of Domestic Air Conditioner / Loh Yin Kuan, Yin Kuan Loh

Student Works (2010-2019)

Piping is a system of pipes used to transfer fluids from one location to another. Refrigerant piping system is used in the air-conditioner to transfer heat from one place to the other place by the refrigerant. One major requirement in refrigeration piping design is to provide adequate flexibility for absorbing the thermal expansion or contraction of the pipe. Piping system shall be designed to be free from high stress originated from thermal stress during operation to prevent product short life cycle and failure. Extensive researches and studies on the design parameters affecting the piping stress are required in order to …

Design Of A Prostate Cancer Patient Navigation Intervention For A Veterans Affairs Hospital, Narissa J. Nonzee, June M. Mckoy, Alfred W. Rademaker, Peter Byer, Thanh H. Luu, Dachao Liu, Elizabeth A. Richey

Dartmouth Scholarship

Patient navigation programs have been launched nationwide in an attempt to reduce racial/ethnic and socio-demographic disparities in cancer care, but few have evaluated outcomes in the prostate cancer setting. The National Cancer Institute-funded Chicago Patient Navigation Research Program (C-PNRP) aims to implement and evaluate the efficacy of a patient navigation intervention for predominantly low-income minority patients with an abnormal prostate cancer screening test at a Veterans Affairs (VA) hospital in Chicago.

The Effect Of Infection Order Of Porcine Circovirus Type 2 And Porcine Reproductive And Respiratory Syndrome Virus On Dually Infected Swine Alveolar Macrophages, Yi-Chieh Tsai, Hui-Wen Chang, Chian-Ren Jeng, Tsang L. Lin, Chun-Ming Lin, Cho-Hua Wan, Victor Fei Pang

Department of Comparative Pathobiology Faculty Publications

Abstract Background: Concurrent infection with porcine circovirus type 2 (PCV2) and porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) is known as one of the major causes for porcine respiratory disease complex (PRDC). Dual infection with PCV2 and PRRSV is consistently to have more severe clinical presentations and pulmonary lesions than infection with PCV2 alone or PRRSV alone. However, it is not known if dual infections with PCV2 and PRRSV in different infection order may lead to different clinical symptoms in the host. To mimic the possible field conditions, swine alveolar macrophages (AMs) were inoculated with PCV2 and PRRSV in vitro …

Transcriptomic Analysis Of Peritoneal Cells In A Mouse Model Of Sepsis: Confirmatory And Novel Results In Early And Late Sepsis., Minny Bhatty, Ruping Fan, William M. Muir, Stephen B. Pruett, Bindu Nanduri Sep 2012

Transcriptomic Analysis Of Peritoneal Cells In A Mouse Model Of Sepsis: Confirmatory And Novel Results In Early And Late Sepsis., Minny Bhatty, Ruping Fan, William M. Muir, Stephen B. Pruett, Bindu Nanduri

Department of Animal Sciences Faculty Publications

Background

The events leading to sepsis start with an invasive infection of a primary organ of the body followed by an overwhelming systemic response. Intra-abdominal infections are the second most common cause of sepsis. Peritoneal fluid is the primary site of infection in these cases. A microarray-based approach was used to study the temporal changes in cells from the peritoneal cavity of septic mice and to identify potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for this subset of sepsis patients.

Results

We conducted microarray analysis of the peritoneal cells of mice infected with a non-pathogenic strain of Escherichia coli. Differentially expressed …

Scabs In Seattle, Richard C. Crepeau

On Sport and Society

It took all of three weeks but the excrement has finally hit the fan. It is not the end of the world, but it is the end of any further claims that the scabs impersonating NFL referees are competent. If they were competent they would already have been NFL referees and therefore would be locked out by the NFL.

The Greatest Book You Will Never Read: Public Access Rights And The Orphan Works Dilemma, Libby Greismann Sep 2012

The Greatest Book You Will Never Read: Public Access Rights And The Orphan Works Dilemma, Libby Greismann

Duke Law & Technology Review

Copyright law aims to promote the dual goals of incentivizing production of literary and artistic works, and promoting public access and free speech. To achieve these goals, Congress has implemented a policy that acknowledges the rights of both the copyright holder and the public, which vest with the fixation of the work. However, as Congressional action has strengthened copyright protection, the rights of the public have been narrowed. Orphan works – works to which the copyright owner cannot be located or identified – present a unique problem, in that achieving free access and use of the works is often impossible. …
