A reliability acceptance sampling plan (RASP) is used for sampling and decision-making in the acceptance or rejection of a lot of products based on lifetime data obtained from a life test. In practice, censored life tests are employed due to limitations in cost, time, and other testing resources for the collection of lifetime data. This thesis develops the design of optimal RASPs under various censoring schemes and testing environments. In this research work, we explored the effectiveness of gamification in improving cybersecurity awareness and training users on targeted social engineering attacks. Traditional cybersecurity training focuses on lectures and videos. These training methods may not actively engage employees, which reduces their knowledge retention and ability to recognize social engineering attacks. This lack of involvement is a concern, as social engineering continues to be one of the most prevalent attack methods faced by end-users. This study presents a systematic review of 92 empirical studies on Chinese as a second language (CSL) in grammatical processing and development, synthesizing their substantive foci and methodological characteristics. The results reveal consistent scholarly attention to cross-linguistic topics, with less focus on features that are distinctively salient in Chinese. Methodologically, studies most commonly relied on quantitative approaches and judgment tasks, while the use of online measures emerged only after 2014. We also identified several persistent challenges, including an overreliance on English-speaking university students as participants, inconsistent proficiency assessment practices across studies, and limitations in transparent data reporting. Feasibility Of An Onboarding Program To Facilitate The Transition From Practitioner To Educator, Jennifer R. Washko, Nancy E. Krusen

The study examined the feasibility of a faculty onboarding program to support the transition from practitioner to educator. Researchers applied Orsmond’s feasibility objectives (2015). We applied the theoretical model of Occupational Adaptation to analyze program data using Relative Mastery Scale (RMS) scores and satisfaction surveys (n=11). Evaluation suggested program processes were feasible, with outcomes indicating statistically significant change (p < .05) in participants’ perceived effectiveness, efficiency, and satisfaction. Evaluating feasibility supports the implementation of onboarding programs. We recommend additional study to consider the usefulness of onboarding for health or social service professionals transitioning to faculty roles.

This study examined the alignment between the Utah Core Mathematics Standards (UCMS) and the Mathematics Vision Project/Open Up Resources (MVPOUR) curriculum for Secondary Mathematics I, II, and III, as well as the proportion of Utah secondary students potentially exposed to that alignment through district-level curriculum approval. Using a qualitative comparative case study design, UCMS were systematically compared to MVPOUR topic foci to identify horizontal alignment (standards addressed within the intended course), vertical alignment (standards addressed across courses), combined horizontal and vertical alignment, or lack of alignment. Modern radio astronomy instruments require a wide field of view and high sensitivity. To this effect, BYU and Cornell University have developed the Advanced L-band Phased Array Camera for Astronomy (ALPACA), a fully cryogenic 69 dual-pol dipole array that produces 80 beams on the sky with 305 MHz instantaneous bandwidth centered on 1500 MHz. Integration testing has demonstrated proper beamforming and calibration, and ALPACA has been commissioned as an all-sky monitor to search for bright transients. Commissioning testing for ALPACA measured an element system noise temperature of 24 K and a beamformed system noise temperature of 17 K, making ALPACA …

Translucent post-larvae disease (TPD), caused by specific Vibrio parahaemolyticus strains, poses a global threat to shrimp aquaculture. A key virulence factor in these strains is the vhv gene cluster, which encodes toxins central to TPD pathogenesis. While plasmid-borne vhv genes have been extensively studied, the chromosome-borne vhv genes in TPD-associated strains remain poorly characterized. In this study, we systematically analyzed integrative mobilizable elements (IMEs) on the small secondary chromosomes of TPD-associated V. parahaemolyticus. Seven nearly identical novel IMEs harboring full-length vhv clusters were identified from seven independent strains. This follow-up study from Montclair State University researchers in the Joetta Di Bella and Fred C. Sautter III Center for Strategic Communication in the College of Communication and Media shows that sentiment on X about the film “The Odyssey” was 1200% more negative than the views of verified audience members. Mechanisms for the maintenance of chronic viruses are poorly understood, particularly for archaeal viruses. Here, we identify the product of Sulfolobus spindle-shaped virus 1 (SSV1) ORF a291 as a putative virally encoded toxin required for growth inhibition but dispensable for viral replication and virion production. Viruses lacking ORF a291 replicated their genomes and formed morphologically normal spindle-shaped particles, yet failed to inhibit the growth of uninfected Saccharolobus solfataricus. Substitution of residues at a predicted N-terminal signal peptide cleavage site abolished growth suppression without affecting replication, suggesting that secretion is essential for toxin function. The framework distinguishes aleatory from cognitive uncertainty and prescribes layered methods: Monte Carlo and Bayesian updating for measurable variability; fuzzy inference and consensus aggregation for linguistic and expert judgements; and graph-based discovery for dynamic cyber-physical topologies represented as time-varying graphs 𝐺𝑡.  Background: Sleep disturbance is highly prevalent among critically ill patients. In the intensive care unit (ICU), multiple environmental and care-related factors disrupt sleep. We tested a multicomponent, technology-assisted SLEEP program designed to target modifiable contributors to poor sleep.

Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of the SLEEP program on sleep disturbances in adults admitted to a surgical ICU.

Purpose: Sleep disturbances are common in high-stress occupational environments and strongly influence psychological and functional outcomes. This study identified hierarchical psychosocial and occupational predictors of poor sleep among active-duty military personnel using an interpretable machine learning model.

Methods: A cross-sectional study of 1,386 Taiwanese army personnel was conducted between 2020 and 2021. Sleep quality was assessed using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI ≥ 5 as poor sleep). Purpose: Parental weight-related communication significantly influences children's body image and psychosocial outcomes(1,2). As digital food media such as mukbang gains popularity, concerns have emerged regarding its impact on parental weight-focused communication(3,4). This study examined psychosocial and media-related predictors of parental weight criticism toward children in Korean families.

Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted with 750 Korean parents (N=1,075 parent-child dyads) recruited through stratified sampling. Parents of children aged 8-19 years completed validated questionnaires measuring parental weight bias, mukbang viewing attitudes and time, dissatisfaction with child's body, health concern, and weight criticism. This paper presents a machine learning-based approach to correct inference errors caused by stuck-at faults in fully analog ReRAM-based neuromorphic circuits. Using a Design-Technology Co-Optimization (DTCO) simulation framework, the study models and analyzes six spatial defect types - circular, circular-complement, ring, row, column, and checkerboard - across multiple layers of a multi-array neuromorphic architecture for handwritten digit recognition tasks. It is demonstrated that the proposed correction method, which employs a lightweight neural network trained on the circuit's 10 output voltages, can improve inference accuracy from 55% to 90% (+ 35 percentage points) in highly degraded defective scenarios.
