Wave attractors in viscous media exhibit laminar or turbulent behavior, dictated by the intensity of the external forcing. Laminar attractors are often assumed to behave as linear systems. However, existing studies typically focus on fully developed flows, neglecting the dynamic formation process of these attractors. We formulate a quantum-mechanical system consisting of a single discrete state coupled to an infinite ladder of equally spaced states, with the coupling described by a Lorentzian profile. Various limiting cases of this system correspond to well-known models in quantum optics: the narrow-resonance limit yields the Rabi model, the wide-resonance limit yields the Bixon--Jortner model, the wide-resonance true continuum limit yields the Wigner--Weisskopf model, and the fixed-resonance true continuum limit yields a system typically studied using methods developed by Fano. The problem of identifying additional local integrals of motion in generic three-dimensional potentials remains a fundamental issue in dynamical systems and galactic dynamics, since most realistic gravitational fields lack global symmetries or separable coordinate systems. In this study, we propose a general constructive method for deriving such local integrals by introducing auxiliary functions whose gradients define an orthogonal frame adapted to the potential. Background/aim: Colchicine poisoning has been associated with systemic toxicity, multiple organ dysfunction syndrome (MODS), and mortality. In the present study, the demographic, clinical, and laboratory characteristics of pediatric colchicine poisoning cases and the incidence of organ failure are investigated to identify potential risk factors associated with MODS.

Materials and methods: Included in this retrospective multicenter cohort study were pediatric patients admitted to 28 tertiary-care pediatric intensive care units with a diagnosis of colchicine poisoning. Synthetic cathinones were identified as new psychoactive substances (NPS) in the early warning advisory system by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Synthetic cathinones have been commonly referred to as bath salts, which offered “legal highs” because they were not explicitly scheduled. These compounds were detected dur-ing the screening process in casework and required internal validation for confirmation. 3,4-methylenedioxy-α-cyclohexylaminopropiophenone was the target analyte for this study. Background/aim: This study aimed to evaluate the demographic, clinical, and hormonal characteristics; comorbidities; surgical pathology; treatment modalities; and long-term clinical outcomes of patients diagnosed with and managed for acromegaly at our tertiary referral center over a 15-year period.

Materials and methods: Between 2010 and 2024, 247 patients with acromegaly were evaluated. Diagnosis and biochemical remission were determined according to the 2024 Acromegaly Consensus Criteria.

METHODS: In this cross-sectional study, we examined associations between AD and 11 CVD subtypes using logistic regression models in 2 large biobanks: the UK Biobank (n=502 133) and the All of Us Research Program (n=287 011). The unfolding argument in the neuroscience of consciousness posits that causal structure cannot account for consciousness because any recurrent neural network (RNN) can be “unfolded” into a functionally equivalent feedforward neural network (FNN) with identical input–output behavior. Subsequent debate has focused on dynamical properties and philosophy of science critiques. We examine a boundary condition on the unfolding argument for RNN systems with rapid plasticity in their connection weights. We demonstrate through rigorous mathematical proofs that rapid plasticity negates the functional equivalence between the RNN and the FNN. Background: An estimated 5 to 8 million US children live with a parent who uses cannabis, and most cannabis users report smoking cannabis inside their homes, placing children at risk for cannabis secondhand smoke (cSHS) exposure. Indoor air quality (IAQ) monitoring provides real-time feedback on airborne pollutants and has shown promise in reducing in-home tobacco secondhand smoke exposure, suggesting its potential as an effective harm reduction strategy for cSHS.

Nighttime evapotranspiration (ET_n) has been widely reported across plant species, yet its magnitude and physiological significance in controlled-environment crop production remain poorly understood. This study quantified ET_n in lettuce (Lactuca sativa L. cv. Outredgeous) grown under controlled-environment conditions and evaluated nighttime-to-daytime ET dynamics under contrasting surface cover conditions. Hand hygiene is the cornerstone of infection prevention in healthcare settings and is particularly critical in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) where patients are highly vulnerable due to immature immune systems and frequent exposure to invasive procedures. Healthcare associated infections (HAIs) remain a significant cause of morbidity and mortality among neonates. Evidence consistently identifies proper hand hygiene as the single most effective intervention to reduce HAIs in NICUs.
