Intersectional Pathways To Prison And Sentence Disparities: Exploring The Role Of Race, Gender Identity, And Sexuality In Women’S Sentencing Outcomes, Jae Collett
Dissertations and Theses
This study explores the relationship between race, gender identity, sexuality, and prison sentence length using data from the Survey of Prison Inmates, 2016. While state and federal guidelines are ostensibly in place to prevent disparate sentencing outcomes, research still finds disparities in prison sentence lengths across identities of defendants. Women generally receive more lenient sentences than men, and may be shown chivalry when processed through the criminal legal system. However, qualifications for chivalrous treatment have historically only been accessible to certain women (i.e. cisgender, heterosexual, white women). The 1920s And The Distortion Of Democracy: The Fourteenth Census, The Fight Over Reapportionment, And Its Consequences, William L. Paine

Following the 1920 decennial census the United States Congress, for the first and only time in its history, failed to pass a reapportionment bill to redistribute representation in the House of Representative in a timely manner. Congress would debate and delay reapportionment for nearly a decade before finally passing the Permanent Apportionment Act of 1929, which provided for the next reapportionment after the 1930 census as well as for all future censuses. There were many factors that helped perpetuate the debate over reapportionment in the 1920s, some of which were unique to the decade and some of which weren’t. The …

Linen management is an important process in hospitals that is directly related to service quality and Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) efforts. This study aimed to analyze the implementation of Lean Management in linen management at the laundry unit of RSU X and to evaluate its contribution to improving process efficiency and strengthening IPC practices. The study employed an operational research design with a qualitative approach through observation, in-depth interviews, and document review. Data analysis was conducted using Value Stream Mapping, waste identification based on the eight waste concept, and root cause analysis using the 5 Whys method. The results …

Objective Under the technological backdrop of large language models (LLMs), big data, and knowledge fusion, multimodal LLMs have found rapid application across traditional industries, including coal mining. However, the successful implementation and sustained operation of these models remain challenging. Background Mineral resource exploitation inevitably causes ecological damage, while its green solution is rooted in green exploration. Currently, green exploration refers to activities aimed at avoiding, eliminating, or mitigating ecological pollution and damage caused by exploration operations, as well as those intended for the restoration of the ecosystem damaged in the exploration process. However, besides focusing on the exploration process, green exploration should provide geological guarantees for ecological restoration following resource exploitation.
