Indian Standards For Methods Of Preparation Of Homoeopathic Mother Tinctures, Kumar Vivekanand, Daisy Katarmal, Indra Gaurav Saxena, Divya Taneja, Shrishti Dixit, Raj Kumar Manchanda
Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy
Homoeopathic mother tinctures form the foundation of homoeopathic pharmaceutical preparations, and their quality largely depends on the source material and the method of extraction. Standardisation of these processes of extraction is essential to ensure consistency, safety, therapeutic reliability, and reproducibility of preparations. The recently published Indian Standards IS 19327 (Part 1): 2025 and IS 19327 (Part 2): 2025 provide standardised procedures for the preparation of homoeopathic mother tinctures through maceration and percolation, respectively. This article reviews the salient features of these standards, including apparatus, materials, procedural steps, process modifications, and storage requirements. The standards emphasise the use of suitable extraction …

Cholelithiasis Treated With Homoeopathy: A Case Report, Girish Gupta
Cholelithiasis Treated With Homoeopathy: A Case Report, Girish Gupta
Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy
Introduction: The supersaturation of bile with cholesterol, necessary for maintaining bile salts in soluble state, leads to precipitation of cholesterol and other bile components in gallbladder lumen resulting in formation of gall stones. Cholelithiasis is a common digestive disorder that affects about 15% of people over 50 years of age, however in younger individuals it is common between the age of 20–40 years. Gall stones are asymptomatic in about 80% cases, but 1–4% of patients may present with symptoms like pain, nausea and vomiting etc. due to obstruction to bile flow. The treatment of gallbladder stone depends on the clinical …

Management Of Pilar Cyst On The Scalp With Individualised Homoeopathic Medicine: An Evidence-Based Case Report, Anindita Das, Suparja Sinha, Mihir Kanti Biswas
Indian Journal of Research in Homoeopathy
Introduction: Pilar cysts, also referred to as trichilemmal cysts, are benign cystic lesions that commonly occur on the scalp. Conventional management generally involves surgical excision. Homoeopathy provides an individualised, non-invasive therapeutic approach based on the totality of symptoms. Case summary: A 35-year-old female patient presented with a soft, cystic swelling on the scalp associated with itching and tenderness, clinically diagnosed as pilar cyst. Thuja occidentalis was prescribed on the basis of individualisation and a follow-up period of over twelve months showed gradual resolution of the cyst without any surgical intervention, along with improvement in general well-being. The patient was subsequently …
Misinterpreting Immigration Law, Michael Kagan
Misinterpreting Immigration Law, Michael Kagan
New Mexico Law Review
Although Congress bears primary responsibility for the convoluted nature of America’s immigration laws, immigration law has been rendered even more incoherent through inconsistent interpretation. During the reign of Chevron deference, the federal courts, the Board of Immigration Appeals and various Attorneys General pushed in different directions, with textualist, libertarian, and restrictionist impulses holding sway on different major interpretive questions. The result is that immigration law is more internally incoherent and more divorced from popular opinion than is necessitated by the text of the Immigration and Nationality Act. The end of Chevron deference offers some potential for the federal courts to …

On The Securitization Of Residential Real Property, Luke Maher
New Mexico Law Review
This article aims to reframe the scholarly discussion about securitizations—transactions in which multiple passive investors use a special purpose entity to take passive fractional ownership shares in one or more assets—in the context of residential real property interests. Residential real property securitizations (including mortgage-backed securities and real estate investment trusts) are relatively modern financial instruments and so are relatively underexamined from a policy perspective, and this article seeks to evaluate whether residential real property interests are amenable to securitization at all, concluding that they are not. In so doing, this article uses the principles of property law to present a …

Pixels And Property Rights: Resolving Social Media Ownership Disputes Between Employers And Employees Through Traditional Property Law Frameworks, Brittany Kjerstad Mcknight
New Mexico Law Review
Social media accounts have become valuable business assets, yet courts remain divided on how to resolve disputes over their ownership. In employer-employee contexts, some courts have adopted multi-factor tests to determine whether an account belongs to the business or the individual. However, these tests create inconsistent and unpredictable results, leaving businesses and employees uncertain about their rights. Courts should reject ad hoc multi-factor tests and instead rely on traditional legal frameworks, specifically property, contract, and agency law, to resolve social media ownership disputes. By treating social media accounts as non-transferable, revocable licenses governed by contractual terms, courts can apply established …
Boycott Governance, Carlos Berdejó
Boycott Governance, Carlos Berdejó
New Mexico Law Review
Despite the power they wield in modern society, corporations are hardly democratic institutions. Their governance structure is designed to further the interest of a narrow set of stakeholders, leaving little room for safeguarding the interests of other constituencies. Moreover, the power to manage corporate affairs rests in the hands of a few individuals who enjoy broad discretion and face limited accountability. This decision-making structure fosters an environment that favors the pursuit of profits at the expense of the interests of those who lack access to the corporate governance framework. Since infiltrating this governance mechanism to influence a firm’s decision-making is …
Rejecting Salinas V. Texas’S Catch-22: Towards State Constitutional Protections For Silence In New Mexico, Kayla Herring
Rejecting Salinas V. Texas’S Catch-22: Towards State Constitutional Protections For Silence In New Mexico, Kayla Herring
New Mexico Law Review
The landmark United States Supreme Court case, Miranda v. Arizona, protects individuals’ constitutional rights in coercive environments, like custodial interrogations, where law enforcement officers apply immense psychological pressure through specialized techniques. However, subsequent caselaw distorts Miranda’s intent to enable prosecutors to comment on silence. Doing so divorces Miranda from the reason the United States Supreme Court established Miranda warnings in the first place. This subsequent caselaw narrows individuals’ constitutional right against having their silence used against them in later criminal proceedings to imply guilt based on the custodial framework established in Miranda. Salinas v. Texas is one of those subsequent …
Into The Black Hole: Private Prison Contractors And The Inspection Of Public Records Act, August M. Ryan
Into The Black Hole: Private Prison Contractors And The Inspection Of Public Records Act, August M. Ryan
New Mexico Law Review
The New Mexico Inspection of Public Records Act (IPRA) is a powerful mechanism for government transparency. Although private companies that contract with state agencies are subject to IPRA, the New Mexico Corrections Department and its contractors continually flout their IPRA obligations. Newsome v. Centurion Correctional Healthcare highlights a tension between IPRA’s robust enforcement provisions and its practical application to government contractors. The Newsome opinion, in denying access to records that should have been disclosed, struggles to articulate how public bodies, contractors, and designated records custodians interact under IPRA. This comment proposes an ordered, step-by-step approach to the custodian problem, seeking …

Geothermal Energy In Utah: A Safe Technology With Limited Environmental Impacts, Joseph Harding, Kendall Becker, Logan Mitchell, Jennifer Bodine, Scott Hotaling
All Current Publications
Geothermal energy has the potential to transform Utah’s electricity landscape, driving a future with improved air quality, lower carbon emissions, and fewer environmental impacts. In this fact sheet, we provide an overview of geothermal energy and its potential environmental implications in Utah. We highlight that recent geothermal projects in Utah do not use fresh water and that new well designs are expected to reduce the consumption of salty, brackish water. If these efforts are successful, geothermal energy would have lower water consumption, reduced seismic risk, and a similarly low land-use footprint compared to fossil fuel sources of electricity.
Intersectional Pathways To Prison And Sentence Disparities: Exploring The Role Of Race, Gender Identity, And Sexuality In Women’S Sentencing Outcomes, Jae Collett
Dissertations and Theses
This study explores the relationship between race, gender identity, sexuality, and prison sentence length using data from the Survey of Prison Inmates, 2016. While state and federal guidelines are ostensibly in place to prevent disparate sentencing outcomes, research still finds disparities in prison sentence lengths across identities of defendants. Women generally receive more lenient sentences than men, and may be shown chivalry when processed through the criminal legal system. However, qualifications for chivalrous treatment have historically only been accessible to certain women (i.e. cisgender, heterosexual, white women). The social and institutional exclusion queer women and/or women of color experience may …

The 1920s And The Distortion Of Democracy: The Fourteenth Census, The Fight Over Reapportionment, And Its Consequences, William L. Paine
Department of History
Following the 1920 decennial census the United States Congress, for the first and only time in its history, failed to pass a reapportionment bill to redistribute representation in the House of Representative in a timely manner. Congress would debate and delay reapportionment for nearly a decade before finally passing the Permanent Apportionment Act of 1929, which provided for the next reapportionment after the 1930 census as well as for all future censuses. There were many factors that helped perpetuate the debate over reapportionment in the 1920s, some of which were unique to the decade and some of which weren’t. The …

Immigration, Innovation, And The Geography Of Growth, Costas Arkolakis, Sun Kyoung Lee, Michael Peters
Cowles Foundation Discussion Papers
Between 1880 and 1920, more than 20 million immigrants settled in the United States. We study how this migration wave affected innovation and growth. Using a newly constructed dataset linking individual census records to historical immigration records and the universe of US patents, we highlight a new channel through which immigrants contributed to growth: they disproportionately settled in urban innovation hubs. To quantify the aggregate and regional effects of this mass migration episode, we develop a new spatial growth model in which skilled workers have a comparative advantage in innovation and sort endogenously across space. We find that international arrivals …

Biofilm Formation By Histophilus Somni On 3d Bovine Respiratory Tissue Cultures, Bindu Subhadra, Neeti Gandhi, Dianjun Cao, Yue-Jia Lee, Padmavathy Rajagopalan, Thomas J. Inzana
Faculty Publications - Biological Sciences
The development of bacterial biofilms following infection involves bacterial attachment to tissues and maturation of the biofilm matrix (BM). However, studying the development of bacterial biofilms in vivo is difficult to follow. An established example of biofilm formation during host infection is bovine respiratory disease (BRD) due to Histophilus somni. To more accurately investigate in vivo biofilm development, three-dimensional bovine airway organoids comprised of bovine turbinate epithelial (BE) and pulmonary artery endothelial (BAE) cells embedded in type I collagen were developed. Cell-free concentrated culture supernatant (CCS) from biofilm-grown H. somni suppressed proliferation of epithelial cells more than endothelial cells, affected …

Many employers screen job applicants with algorithms built by the same few algorithm vendors. We hypothesize that algorithmic monoculture leads to the same individuals and members of the same racial groups facing rejection. We acquire and analyze a novel dataset of 3 million applicants submitting 4 million applications where all the applications are screened by algorithms built by the same vendor. We find clear racial disparities in applicant outcomes. Of all applications submitted by Asian and Black applicants, 14.74% and 25.87% are submitted to positions that adversely impact Asian and Black applicants, respectively, according to U.S. employment discrimination standards. Individuals …

Essays On Liberalization And Trade Policy In Developing Economies Under Increasing Returns, Shivam Kapoor
Doctoral Theses
Developing countries occupy an important place in the world trade pattern of today. Taking advantage of low wages in these countries, the low technology and labor intensive stages of production in many product lines are outsourced here. Hence participation in Global Value Chains for a developing country on the one hand generates employment in manufacturing thereby helping realize economies of scale arising out of division of labor, on the other hand the gains from trade accruing from such participation may be low due to presence of severe distortions like weak legal and financial institutions, and may cause distributional conflicts. This study sought to examine the role the Black barbershop environment may play in lessening the gap between mental-health stigma and help-seeking behaviors among African American men. It is the first to examine the impact of peer-support received in the Black barbershop in comparison to a traditional medical setting on referral follow-through among this demographic. Black men experience significant physical health disparities in comparison to all other race-sex demographic groups in the United States. These health disparities are often due to systemic inequities like lack of access to health care, cost of care, and a lack of insurance. With much …

Research On Control Strategy For Shortest Time Occupancy Of Auv Based On Improved Td3, Wenzhe Ren, Min Li, Xiangguang Zeng, Tao Zhang, Dijie Xie, Bei Peng
Journal of System Simulation
Existing occupancy models fail to fully consider the interference of underwater time-varying ocean currents and task time constraints, and AUVs lacks real-time motion control. To address these issues, a shortest time occupancy method based on quantile regression and distributed TD3 was proposed. The Bayesian inference method was used to identify hydrodynamic parameters, and the kinematic and dynamic models of AUVs were established; the shortest time occupancy equation was constructed, and the occupancy target point and occupancy time were solved; a first-order Gauss-Markov process was introduced to simulate the time-varying ocean current environment, and the training of control strategy for AUV …
