Many scholars have studied Black maternal health disparities—their causal factors, effects, and concrete interventions to help eliminate them. Many of the life-ending occurrences pregnant Black women disproportionately face are preventable, demonstrating that a significant call to action is long overdue. My primary research question asks whether Gen-Z Black women will be receptive to an alternative prenatal care model (APCM) instead of the current American Care Model (ACM). Community gardens are vital urban green spaces that facilitate learning, connect community members to nature and each other, and provide increased food security. They also have the potential to provide wildlife habitat and support urban biodiversity, although the extent to which they do this may vary between gardens. The goal of this study was to measure diversity of multiple taxonomic groups within urban community gardens, examine ecological differences between community gardens in the same city, and identify the socio-ecological factors that drive those differences. Collective behavior refers to the observable patterns, actions, or movements that emerge within a group of entities, such as individuals, animals, or particles, when they interact with each other. In this study, we concentrate on the pressureless compressible Euler system, expanding it to incorporate a family of nonlinear velocity alignment. This extension represents a nonlinear iteration of the Euler-alignment system within collective dynamics, revealing intriguing asymptotic emergent phenomena such as alignment and flocking. Our investigation explores different types of nonlinearity and nonlocal communication protocols, unveiling a diverse spectrum of asymptotic behaviors within the system.

Guided by the Vygotskian (1978) principles inherent in co-teaching and Lucas and Villegas’s (2013) culturally and linguistically responsive framework, this qualitative, action research study investigated the impact of implementing a co-teaching model between a multilingual learner program specialist and a veteran general classroom teacher for the purpose of enhancing the veteran teacher’s pedagogical practices related to multilingual students. Data from professional development, interview, and conversation transcripts, in addition to observations, revealed the impact of the intervention. In order to ascribe the impact of substituent groups on the bis-ortho-carborane, closo-{C2B10}-closo-{C2B10} multi-cluster system, the first sulfur-containing biscarborane derivatives were synthesized. Biscarborane dithiol, disulfide, bis(methyl)thioether, as well as multiple dithiolate salts were structurally characterized. The exceedingly long C–C bonds and shortened C–S bonds in biscarborane dithiol and its doubly deprotonated dithiolate salts are indicative of significant delocalization of electron density from the sulfur atoms into the cluster. This action research dissertation investigates the efficacy of a socio-scientific phenomena-driven biology curriculum in a Title 1 Massachusetts High School. Grounded in social constructivism, culturally relevant pedagogy, and self-determination theories, the study explores the impact of socio-scientific phenomena on students’ perceived importance of science education, motivation, engagement, and achievement. A mixed-methods approach was used, and data was collected through student engagement reflection, Science Motivation Questionnaire, and pre- and post-assessments to holistically evaluate the efficacy of the curriculum. The findings include increased student engagement, motivation, and achievement after participating in the intervention, which supports the motivation-engagement-achievement feedback loop. This study examines the impact of game addiction on social sensitivity and learning motivation among first to fourth-semester students at UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta. The goal is to understand the extent to which game addiction affects social interactions and academic motivation. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a case study design, utilizing online questionnaires administered to 52 respondents to collect data regarding their gaming behavior, social sensitivity, and academic motivation. The asset-based qualitative study used a phenomenological approach within a Community Cultural Wealth framework to question the practices of an intergenerational family system in the Southeastern United States. The study investigated the family system’s out-of-school literacy practices and the exposure to culturally relevant literature. The study revealed that an elder who actively participated in rearing school-aged children intentionally introduced culturally relevant literature. In this dissertation, I argue that Phyllis Schlafly’s fight against the proposed Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) from 1972 to 1976 helped construct the “pro-family” political identity that opposed the ERA and came to define social conservatism in American politics. She did this through the creation and elaboration of a negative group identity: individuals defined by their desire for an imagined past of traditional, stable hierarchies. By taking an anodyne piece of legislation and framing its supporters as direct threats to the status quo, Schlafly effectively mobilized a group of previously apolitical actors towards political activism. Background: This study evaluated the effects of an online nutrition intervention program, Food Fitness First, Inc.®, on health indicators for diabetes, cardiovascular disease and obesity among senior center participants.

Methods: Thirty individuals aged over 60 completed the 3-month Food Fitness First program, which included initial counseling and 12 educational sessions utilizing the Diabetes FOOD SPIRAL® book and bifold. Pre- and post-treatment assessments measured various health parameters.

Results: Results showed significant improvements in Favorable Fitness Factor (FFF) score, which encompasses four key domains: Nutrition, Exercise, Health/Disease, and Lifestyle. FFF factor difference was equal to 13.63, with 95% CI [11.22; 16.03;]. …

This study reports on the influence of substrate temperature on the properties of Ag-doped TiO2 thin films. The films were deposited by reactive DC co-sputtering of Ti and Ag targets at different substrate temperatures and Ag target sputtering powers. Grazing incident X-ray diffractometer confirmed that all films were polycrystalline with dominant peak oriented along (101) planes representing the anatase TiO2 phase. The average grain size of the samples improved with increase in deposition temperature. At a substrate temperature of 450 ℃, the samples had a dominant peak representing the rutile phase, suggesting partial transformation from anatase to rutile phase. The …
