Language Sample Analysis In Preschool-Age Children At-Risk For Speech Sound Disorders, Hannah Spear May 2025

Language Sample Analysis In Preschool-Age Children At-Risk For Speech Sound Disorders, Hannah Spear

Communication Disorders and Occupational Therapy Undergraduate Honors Theses

Introduction: Language sample analysis is a highly beneficial tool that speech-language pathologists can utilize to provide a more accurate diagnosis and treatment plan for their client. This method is particularly valuable because it assesses a child’s speech in a naturalistic form, allowing therapists to observe how the child communicates in real-world settings. Speech sound disorders account for the highest number of cases treated by speech-language pathologist in the pediatric population. This thesis aims to investigate two different types of language sample analysis software, CLAN and SALT, as well as their benefits and limitations in diagnosing speech sound disorders. Understanding the …

Regulation Of Sargassum Removal And Sinking In Florida, Ashwin Murthy, Korey Silverman-Roati, Romany M. Webb May 2025

Regulation Of Sargassum Removal And Sinking In Florida, Ashwin Murthy, Korey Silverman-Roati, Romany M. Webb

Sabin Center for Climate Change Law

Carbon dioxide removal is increasingly recognized as a necessary component of global climate mitigation efforts. One emerging method involves the deep-sea sinking of plant biomass to sequester carbon. Sargassum, a free-floating brown seaweed, has been identified as a promising candidate for this approach due to its natural buoyancy and decomposition process, which enables it to sink and potentially store carbon in the deep ocean. With sargassum blooms growing dramatically in the Atlantic since 2011 — posing ecological, economic, and public health risks when they wash ashore — there is growing interest in offshore removal and sinking as a climate solution. …

Does The Major Questions Doctrine Apply To The Federal Courts?, Michael Coenen, Seth Davis May 2025

Does The Major Questions Doctrine Apply To The Federal Courts?, Michael Coenen, Seth Davis

Fordham Law Review

The new “major questions doctrine” (MQD) requires courts to apply a “distinct” approach to statutory interpretation when reviewing challenges to an agency action of “vast economic and political significance.” Under that approach, courts must assume that such an action exceeds the scope of that agency’s statutory authority unless there exists “clear congressional authorization” for it. In this Article, we examine whether this new rule for administrative agencies (or what we call the “agency MQD”) implies the existence of a similarly strong constraint on the federal courts’ power to interpret and apply statutes for themselves (or what we call the “judicial …

Abortion Travel Restrictions Under The Dormant Commerce Clause After National Pork Producers Council V. Ross, Katherine Bartley May 2025

Abortion Travel Restrictions Under The Dormant Commerce Clause After National Pork Producers Council V. Ross, Katherine Bartley

Fordham Law Review

Since Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, twelve states have banned abortion entirely, and seven states have banned abortion earlier in pregnancy than the standard set in Roe v. Wade. As abortion access dwindles, patients increasingly cross state lines to seek reproductive healthcare. In response, antiabortion state officials and lawmakers have made efforts to restrict interstate travel for abortion care.

This Note examines abortion travel restrictions under the “Dormant” Commerce Clause doctrine, which limits state laws that burden interstate commerce. In 2023, the U.S. Supreme Court affirmed but narrowed the judge-made doctrine in National Pork Producers Council v. …

Concepts And Sources Of Authority In Early Christianity, Carter Dean Yancey May 2025

Concepts And Sources Of Authority In Early Christianity, Carter Dean Yancey

Masters Theses

The concept of authority, though seemingly clear in everyday discourse, is in fact a multifaceted and elusive subject upon closer examination. This paper seeks to untangle the intricacies of authority in order to better understand and discuss biblical and early Christian positions regarding the matter. The study begins by surveying the philosophical literature on authority to establish a clear and robust vocabulary for discussing the topic. Differentiating between the various concepts and paradigms of authority helps avoid the pitfalls of vague or inconsistent usage that have hindered the historical, philosophical, and theological debates on the matter.

Central to this thesis …

Evangelicals For Israel: The Study Of John Hagee’S Rhetorical Influences On Evangelical Israel-Related Ideologies, Abigail L. Schroeder May 2025

Evangelicals For Israel: The Study Of John Hagee’S Rhetorical Influences On Evangelical Israel-Related Ideologies, Abigail L. Schroeder

Masters Theses

This rhetorical analysis investigates preacher John Hagee's recent sermons to identify a rhetorical vision addressing the shifting landscape of 21st-century Evangelical Israel-related ideologies that foster group identification and sense-making. Additionally, it examines how he addresses competing Christian Israel-related ideologies exacerbated by historical Church theology, politics, and current events in Palestine. Evangelicals have adopted one set of ideologies concerning Israel in rejection of mainline Protestantism ideologies supporting Palestine. However, the literature does not address current rhetorical influences shaping this ideology. Through applying symbolic convergence theory to Hagee’s responding sermons to war in Israel/Palestine, this rhetorical analysis identifies the rhetoric shaping the …

Remaining Life Analysis Of Pipeline Gas With Extreme Value Theory, Rony Prayitno Simeon, Eddy Sumarno Siradj, Tedi Kurniawan

Journal of Materials Exploration and Findings

Energy and chemical companies use pipelines to transfer oil, gas, and other materials from one place to another, within and between their plants. Pipeline integrity is an important concern because pipeline leakage could result in serious economic or environmental losses. Some research has applied to understand the effect of extrapolation value of the minimum thickness of pipeline by using the Extreme Value Theory. In this research, both statistical models and Extreme Value methods were applied and developed for the reliability of the pipeline by assuming the constant corrosion rate and deviation due to measuring devices were neglected. The research obtained …

Assessment Of H2s-Induced Cracking Susceptibility In Steam Line Pipes And Weld Zones During Geothermal Well Construction, Riene Kaelamanda Pragitta, Yudha Pratesa

Journal of Materials Exploration and Findings

The susceptibility of steam line pipes, especially in the HAZ (heat-affected zone) and weldment areas, to hydrogen sulfide in the geothermal industry is crucial to understand from the early stages, particularly during construction. The combination of tensile stress from residual stresses after welding and metallurgical phase transformation makes the joint areas vulnerable to sulfide stress cracking. This condition becomes even more extreme when the equipment operates during the well stimulation phase. This research assesses the severity of H₂S-induced cracking using NACE MR0175 and ISO 15156-1 standards, focusing on the effects of pH and partial pressure of H₂S (pH₂S …

The Marginality Of Women In Narratives: Reflections On Iranian Women's Struggles Through Saeed Roustayi's Films, Narges Azami May 2025

The Marginality Of Women In Narratives: Reflections On Iranian Women's Struggles Through Saeed Roustayi's Films, Narges Azami

Theses, Dissertations and Culminating Projects

Using the concept of intersectionality, this thesis explores how women are marginalized in three post-revolutionary Iranian films (made after 1979), directed by Saeed Roustayi. In these three films, Life and a Day (2016), Just 6.5 (2019), and Leila’s Brothers (2022), the intersectional lens helps investigate how different types of oppression, such as gender and class, often come together to affect women’s lives. In the analysis, four main themes emerge, including emotional labor, symbolic erasure, limited visibility, and intersectional oppression. Roustayi’s films point out how systems like patriarchy, poverty, and tradition hold women back. The study also explains how multiple social …

Development Of A High-Level Model Of Remote Work's Psychological Consequences Using A Large International Data Set, Morgan Russell May 2025

Development Of A High-Level Model Of Remote Work's Psychological Consequences Using A Large International Data Set, Morgan Russell

Theses, Dissertations and Culminating Projects

Remote work has proven to be an enduring fixture of the post-pandemic global economy. Despite research on the construct proliferating in recent years, it has not yet coalesced into a unified model of why, and in which contexts, remote work produces favorable or unfavorable outcomes for employees. The present study represents the first attempt to produce such a model, utilizing a global database of over 8 million employee surveys. The findings of the present study suggest that remote work is associated with small increases in job satisfaction, intent to stay and task performance, with the former two relationships mediated by …

How Theatre Of The Oppressed Helps White Teachers Understand Race: Moving From Color-Blind To Color-Sight, Roger S. Kintish May 2025

How Theatre Of The Oppressed Helps White Teachers Understand Race: Moving From Color-Blind To Color-Sight, Roger S. Kintish

Theses, Dissertations and Culminating Projects

The growth of teachers of Color in American classrooms has not kept pace with the growth of students of Color. While the percentage of White teachers versus teachers of Color has held relatively steady at approximately 80 percent White teachers to 20 percent teachers of Color for four decades, there has been a dramatic shift from approximately 80 percent White students and 20 percent students of Color in the 1980s to a majority-minority status for White students. There is strong evidence that this lack of alignment in racial, cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds between the nation’s teaching force and our …

A Pedagogy Of One: Engaging The ‘Missing Middle’ Toward Inclusion In Education, Jess H. Mitchell May 2025

A Pedagogy Of One: Engaging The ‘Missing Middle’ Toward Inclusion In Education, Jess H. Mitchell

Full-Text Theses & Dissertations

Attempts to implement inclusion practices in post-secondary education have heretofore focused mainly on diverse modes of content, presentation, delivery (tactical), and/or on largely abstract academic and policy calls to awareness of systemic social inequities (socioemotional).

This thesis argues that both strategies are necessary, but not sufficient to action an effective and implementable inclusive pedagogical practice. This thesis is an exploration of what is missing beyond the tactical and the socioemotional—conceptualizing how to address a gap in actioning inclusion. Arriving at that framework for understanding what is missing requires exploring barriers that persist in access to equitable education. This work is …

Unemployed Negativity: Fragments On Philosophy, Politics, And Culture, Jason Read Phd

Faculty, Staff, and Alumni Books

Unemployed Negativity is a blog kept by Jason Read for over eighteen years. During that time, it has been a reflection on everything from the films of Jordan Peele to the relevance of Marxist criticism for contemporary society. It has reflected on such cultural transformations as the lasting legacy of Shark Week to the rise of conspiracy theories in contemporary politics. In doing so it has persisted in one central aim, to make philosophy a living reflection on the present rather than a contemplation of the past. This is a collection of its best posts, revised and expanded for publication.

Enhancing Social-Emotional Learning In Rural Classrooms: A Teacher-Centered Needs Analysis, Ashley Taylor May 2025

Enhancing Social-Emotional Learning In Rural Classrooms: A Teacher-Centered Needs Analysis, Ashley Taylor

Academic Affairs

The 21st-century learning environment has undergone significant transformation, placing greater emphasis on the social-emotional aspects of education. Extensive research underscores the pivotal role of social-emotional learning (SEL) in fostering students' academic, social, and emotional development (Lehr & Roth, 2017). Teachers have emerged as crucial facilitators in providing resources to address students' socio-emotional needs, yet many face challenges due to inadequate resources and support (Roth, 2018). In rural communities, obstacles like limited financial resources and personnel shortages pose significant barriers to meeting the social-emotional learning needs of students (Nichols et al., 2017). This project aims to conduct a needs analysis focusing …

Crisis Calling: Fan Relationships With Athletes, Alexis T. Merriman

All Theses

This study identifies the importance and complexities of parasocial relationships, as well as looks at the effects these relationships have on NFL sport consumers in our society. Sport fandom, specifically high-level fandom attachments such as parasocial relationships (PSR), have called for a need to examine what occurs for both athletes and fans when a parasocial relationship is jeopardized in times of inevitable athlete or league crisis. This study applies Situational Crisis Communication Theory (SCCT) and Turning Point Approach to examine these complex parasocial relationships. Due to gaps in literature looking at parasocial breakup (PSB) and relationship turbulence through public relations …
