Collage As A Facilitator Of Connection And Belonging: An Application Of Art Therapy With Sgm Clients, Noa L. Shems

This research explored themes of connection and belonging in SGM clients in individual art therapy sessions through the medium of collage. An arts-based research method was developed utilizing the medium of collage in session with clients, followed with reflective response collages and journaling to analyze the data observed. Across 5 art therapy sessions, clients engaging in collage facilitated deeper therapeutic rapport and safety, enhanced a sense of connection with the self, and helped to process barriers and desires around clients’ close relationships.

Bear Essentials is an online newsletter published by the Student Activities Council of Des Moines Area Community College. The newsletter was established in early 2020 when DMACC closed its facilities due to the coronavirus pandemic. The newsletter covers topics such as upcoming virtual activities and events, college resources, and community service opportunities. When asked about the origins of the newsletter, Student Activities Advisor Erin Smith said, "We wanted students to know they were not alone, the entire DMACC Community was coming together to help support one another in any way possible."

While rarely put into conversation, William Faulkner’s “Barn Burning” and James Joyce’s “Araby” have a remarkable amount to say to one another. These parallel portraits of childhood each follow a young boy, Sarty Snopes and a nameless narrator respectively, struggling to find emotional clarity within a repressive society. While far from either authors’ most blatant critique of Southern or Irish culture, both stories subtly weave in the confining forces of Catholicism, imperialism, patriarchy, and poverty. To cope with the drudgery and cruelty of their surroundings, the boys retreat into fantasies of love and heroism. These idealizations allow the boys to …

Alexander Technique (AT) has been widely recognized for improving coordination, reducing strain, and fostering a more mindful approach to performance. Preludios Colombianos is an audio recording album dedicated to the piano works of Colombian composers Adolfo Mejía Navarro and Guillermo Uribe Holguín, performed by pianist Natalia Vanegas Escobar. The album features Uribe Holguín’s Preludes op. 48 and op. 56 and Mejía’s Four Preludes, offering listeners a focused look at two important yet underrepresented voices in classical music. Despite the significance of these composers in the Colombian national repertoire, many of their pieces have never been professionally recorded, and some have no audio record whatsoever. Single vesicle molecular profiling of cancer-associated EVs is increasingly recognized as a powerful tool for cancer detection and monitoring. Mask and target dual imaging offers a straightforward method to quantify the fraction of molecularly targeted EVs in biofluids at the single vesicle level. However, accurate and efficient dual imaging analysis remains challenging due to interference from false signals in mask images and the need to process large volumes of clinical sample data. The rapid adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs) necessitates to optimize the grid through strategic placement of Electric Vehicle Charging Station (EVCS). Conventional algorithms such as Greywolf Optimization Algorithm and Particle Swarm Optimization have been used for the placement of EVCS, but they have difficulties in dealing with dynamic and complex environments. With this background, this thesis proposes a Modified Artificial Hummingbird Algorithm (MAHA) for optimal placement of EVCS in the IEEE 9-bus, 57-bus, and 118-bus systems. In this lease expiration holdover, the landlord sought possession after the tenant failed to execute a renewal lease offered via an online platform. The landlord claimed exemption from RPL § 226-c's notice requirement, arguing its earlier lease offer (below a 5% increase) precluded the need for further notice. These injuries impair physical and cognitive performance, negatively affecting worker performance and efficiency. To help manage the adverse effects of heat stress on workers, cooling strategies have been implemented to prevent increase in body temperature and improve work performance. Matroids give rise to several natural constructions of polytopes. Inspired by this, we examine polytopes that arise from the signed circuits of an oriented matroid. We give the dimensions of these polytopes arising from graphical oriented matroids and their duals. Moreover, we consider polytopes constructed from cocircuits of oriented matroids generated by the positive roots in any type A root system. We give an explicit description of their face structure and determine the Ehrhart series. We also study an action of the symmetric group on these polytopes, giving a full description the subpolytopes fixed by each permutation. These type A …

The purpose of this capstone is to create a curriculum for morning meetings that foster self-management skills in 5th grade students. I have created a four-week curriculum that addresses self-management skills for students in 5th grade, although, this curriculum can be easily adjusted to fit the needs of students in younger grades. This curriculum was created using the research I have outlined in my literature review. Additionally, this curriculum uses The Collaborative for Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) framework guide my curriculum.

Post-traumatic joint contracture (PTJC) is a common complication following elbow injuries, often leading to stiffness, pain, and impaired limb function. A simple elbow dislocation model in Long-Evans rats has been validated to replicate clinical PTJC. However, real-world elbow trauma frequently involves more complex injuries such as chronic instability or fracture dislocation. The objective of this study was to evaluate outcomes of two newly developed, more severe elbow injuries in vivo for the first time. A three-tiered injury model of increasing severity was implemented: Tier I (simple dislocation), Tier II (instability), and Tier III (fracture dislocation). Since fall 2021, the author has practiced a method of ungrading, labor-based contract grading, in all courses in the small German program at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. The author has anecdotally observed less anxiety, fewer incidents of cheating, more cooperation among students, stronger rapport between students and instructors, growth of minors and majors, and more excitement and energy in the program. This research investigates how women, transgender, and gender nonconforming professional faculty perceive their value in the university relative to their male counterparts. Shifting demographic trends and competition for tuition-paying undergraduates has forced institutions of higher learning, especially regional private universities, to restructure faculty appointments, increasing the proportion of faculty hired into contingent roles. These roles are disproportionately occupied by women and gender nonconforming individuals (as a group).
