When blood vessels are damaged, clots formed by the protein fibrin stabilize platelets and stem active bleeding. Coagulation, the physiological process that forms fibrin clots from blood plasma, hinges on the clotting cascade, a complex network of interacting proteins. These so-called clotting factors help control fibrin polymerization and thereby coagulation. A clotting factor deficiency generally slows coagulation, resulting in bleeding disorders like hemophilia A, B or C. Diagnosing the deficient factor's identity is essential to optimal treatment. This project was a program development and implementation of an adaptive fitness program for individuals with physical disabilities that integrates occupation. This was done to bridge the gap between adaptive fitness and occupational therapy and highlight the role of occupational therapy in adaptive fitness settings. A needs assessment and activity analysis were completed and used to develop the weekly sessions throughout implementation. The implementation phase was over 6 weeks, with 3 sessions a week. This study aimed to examine the impact of a required counseling course through Duquesne University's Speech-Language Pathology program, particularly regarding student’s counseling self-efficacy and their ability to apply counseling skills within clinical practice. Nineteen first year Master’s students in Speech-Language Pathology at Duquesne University during 2025 participated in this study while enrolled in a counseling course and providing therapy to clients. This dissertation explores the lived experience of eco-anxiety among young adults aware of the ongoing ecological crisis but not directly exposed to climate-related disasters. Grounded in the human science tradition, ecopsychology, and existential phenomenology, this study employed Scott Churchill’s (2022) approach to Existential Phenomenological Research (EPR) to deepen our understanding of the phenomenon of eco-anxiety. Four participants, residing in Pittsburgh and aged 18-25, produced written experiential descriptions and participated in open-ended phenomenological interviews. This project develops an experiential classroom exercise in which students diagnose workplace trust violations, examine the perspectives and emotions of both parties, and practice selecting and communicating evidence-based reparative actions. The exercise translates organizational behavior research into a practical learning experience that develops not only managerial competence but also the character, empathy, and relational wisdom needed to build healthy organizations and promote human flourishing.

Upcycling Pomelo Peel And Eggplant Biomass Into Form-Stable Pcms, Xiao-Mei Yang, Guang-Zhong Yin

Eggplant tissue and pomelo peel waste were converted into lightweight biomass porous foams via freeze-drying and subsequently used as sustainable scaffolds for shape-stable PCMs. Paraffin (PA) and PEG 20 K were incorporated into the biomass-derived foams, where the naturally interconnected cellular structures provided abundant capillary channels for PCM uptake and confinement. The resulting composites achieved high PCM loadings of 81.44–93.50 wt%. The melting enthalpies of Eggplant-PA, Pomelo-PA, Eggplant-20K, and Pomelo-20K reached 169.31, 166.11, 155.76, and 143.56 J g⁻¹ , respectively, confirming their considerable latent heat storage capability. For students enrolled in professional programs, belonging may develop within two overlapping communities: the academic institution and the emerging profession. Institutional and professional belonging can provide connection, support, engagement, and opportunities for identity and professional development. This paper synthesizes literature on these two forms of belonging and proposes a conceptual framework describing their potential relationship with whole-person formation and flourishing. On July 3, the Social Security Administration announced that it will integrate Trump Account enrollment into the hospital birth-registration process through the agency’s Enumeration at Birth (EAB) Program.
