The research problem for this study was that teachers are inconsistent in using inquiry-based instruction in secondary science classrooms. Guided by Vygotsky’s theory of constructivism, the purpose of this basic qualitative study was to explore teachers’ perspectives of the obstacles to implementing inquiry-based instruction in secondary science classrooms and what they believe will be needed to allow them to overcome these obstacles. Given the high prevalence of depression and disparities in mental health care, inconsistent PHQ-9 use can lead to delayed diagnoses and unequal access to treatment. BACKGROUND: Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have shown substantial benefit for patients with advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, resistance to ICIs remains a major clinical challenge. Here, we perform a comprehensive bioinformatic analysis of plasma proteomic profiles to explore the underlying biology of treatment resistance in NSCLC.

METHODS: The analysis was performed on 388 "resistance-associated proteins" (RAPs) that were previously described as pretreatment plasma proteomic predictors within the PROphet computational model designed to predict ICI clinical benefit in NSCLC. In this study, we conducted a comprehensive analysis of the interactions between the receptor-binding domain (RBD) of the SARS-CoV-2 spike protein and four neutralizing antibodies—S309, S304, CYFN1006, and VIR-7229. Using integrative computational modeling that combined all-atom molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, mutational scanning, and MM-GBSA binding free energy calculations, we elucidated the structural, energetic, and dynamic determinants of antibody binding. Our findings reveal distinct dynamic binding mechanisms and evolutionary adaptation driving the broad neutralization effect of these antibodies. The distinction between pN1 and ≥pN2 breast cancer impacts treatment decisions. Using data from a single institution on women with cN0 invasive breast cancer who were treated with upfront surgery, had 1-3 positive SLNs, and underwent completion ALND, we used gradient boosted trees (XGBoost) to develop a model for predicting ≥pN2 disease using clinicopathologic variables. Model performance was tested in a held-out subsample (20%) and validated using data from the National Cancer Database (NCDB). Of 3574 patients with cN0 breast cancer, 587 underwent upfront surgery and had 1-3 positive SLNs. Of these, 415 (70.7%) underwent completion ALND, with 64 (15.4%) …

This study introduces cultural mathematical caring relations (CMCRs) as a framework that extends Hackenberg's mathematical caring relations by integrating two tenets of culturally relevant pedagogy: academic achievement and cultural competence. Framed within radical constructivism, CMCRs prioritize students' cognitive growth and development while affirming their cultural and experiential identities by embedding their funds of knowledge into the learning process. Through a constructivist teaching experiment with two Latina students, Yari and Jocelyn, this research investigates how working to establish and maintain CMCRs can influence Latin* students' rate of change development.

Functional connectivity (FC) analyses of intracranial EEG (iEEG) signals can potentially improve the mapping of epileptic networks in drug-resistant focal epilepsy. However, it remains unclear whether FC-based metrics provide additional value beyond established epilepsy biomarkers such as epileptic spikes and high-frequency oscillations (HFOs). Using interictal iEEG data from 26 patients, we estimated FC across eight frequency bands (4–290 Hz) using amplitude envelope correlation (AEC) and phase locking value (PLV).
