Automated Task Management In A Cloud-Based Workspace, Ilia Labzovsky, Danny Karmon
Defensive Publications Series
A technique is proposed for automated task management in a cloud-based workspace. Content corresponding to an intended task pertaining to a user is identified from a set of electronic documents associated with the user. A task plan for the intended task is generated based on the set of electronic documents and/or one or more additional electronic documents associated with the intended task. An indication of a sequence of operations of the task plan is provided for presentation via a user interface (UI) of a client device associated with the user. A user-initiated instruction from the client device is received to …

Journal of Art, Design and Music
Migration processes are inherently complex phenomena. Moreover, the socio-political events triggered by the Arab Spring have intensified debates surrounding the elements that seek to define individual or collective displacement within static categories. In Syria, the armed conflict that began in 2011 forced countless individuals to abandon their homes in search of survival. This article aims to explore possible intersections between the fields of art and migration studies, focusing on the trajectory of Sulafa Hijazi, a Syrian artist who migrated to Germany in 2013 due to the war in her homeland. By examining the diverse categories of migration in Syria, this …

A Brief Introduction To Computational Design Terminologies And Concepts, Ahmed Mostafa Mohamed El Shazly, Fatheya Sobhy Matuk, Mona Mahmoud Shams El Din
Journal of Art, Design and Music
Computational design is often presented in purely technical terms without understanding the underlying logic and theory behind the process. Computational design is defined as the application of computational strategies to the design process. While designers traditionally rely on intuition and experience to solve design problems, computational design aims to enhance this process by encoding design decisions using computer language. The goal is not necessarily to document the final result, but rather the steps required to create that result. Computational design draws inspiration from nature's ability to create efficient designs that exhibit complexity, organic forms and natural patterns. It enables designers …

Journal of Academic Ophthalmology
Introduction: Ophthalmology is one of the least diverse medical subspecialties. The Michigan Ophthalmology Pathway (MOP) Program was created at the University of Michigan Medical School in 2017 to promote diversity in ophthalmology through early exposure and longitudinal mentorship for medical students from underrepresented backgrounds (URiM). This innovative institution-level model aimed to increase URiM student interest in ophthalmology and help URiM students develop competitive residency applications. Methods: Each year, first-year medical students (M1) and residents (PGY2) were invited to apply to MOP. MOP mentees were matched one-to-one with an ophthalmology resident mentor whom they shadowed for six days in the clinic …

Evaluation Of Antibiotic Testing Protocols For Biofilm-Forming Escherichia Coli In A Microfluidic Platform, Caleb R. Telander
Evaluation Of Antibiotic Testing Protocols For Biofilm-Forming Escherichia Coli In A Microfluidic Platform, Caleb R. Telander
Master's Theses
Catheter-associated urinary tract infections remain an ongoing clinical problem due to biofilm persistence and antibiotic resistance. Standard antibiotic susceptibility testing cannot accurately reproduce flow conditions and the spatial complexity of the in vivoenvironment and is thus questionable in relevance to device-related infections. This study examines a microfluidic device designed to simulate physiologically relevant wall shear stress and antibiotic gradients in Escherichia coli biofilms. The polydimethylsiloxane-based system integrates a 16-well culture chamber with a gradient generator. Biofilm growth was observed using fluorescence microscopy of green fluorescent protein-labeled bacteria. Simulations performed using COMSOL Multiphysics software estimated the appropriate range of wall …

Coral reefs are one of Earth’s most vital and threatened ecosystems. They protect coastlines, generate billions of dollars of tourism revenue, support valuable fisheries, and contribute to the development of vital medicines. Yet half of the world's coral reefs have been lost in the last 50 years, and 90% of remaining reefs are projected to die off by the middle of this century, mainly due to warming seas from climate change.
Despite these challenges there is reason for hope. Some coral reefs – such as in the northern Red Sea and Gulf of Aqaba – have demonstrated remarkable resilience to …

The Use Of Partial Textual Stimuli Within An Interactive Task For Increasing Reports Of Past Behavior With A Child With Autism, Masyn S. Mcwilliams, Robbie Hanson
Faculty Scholarship
Individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) may face challenges with reporting past behavior. Although some behavior-analytic studies have shown success with increasing these reports, the use of materials within activities that do not repeat has not been assessed (e.g., Shillingsburg et al., 2017). Thus, the purpose of the current study was to expand upon previous research (e.g., Shillingsburg et al. 2017; 2019) by utilizing novel materials within activities completed and examining the use of partial textual stimuli within an interactive task to increase reports of past behavior for one child with autism. The results showed an increase in reports of …
