The Olympic Games constitute an international remembrance of sports excellence and peace in which winning medals constitutes a matter of great personal and national significance to athletes and nations. A forecasting of future medal outcomes has developed into a large application of sports analytics, but one with an elusive challenge inherent in varying performer performance, variable event rosters, and external factors like coach and home-based support. We were tasked with developing a model that could predict the top seven countries medal totals for the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Swarms of insects and similar species show signs of collective or emergent behaviors. We can analyze these behaviors thoroughly by looking at how the simulated properties are related to different formations of insect swarms. This work focuses on a newly developed computational model. Through incorporating random, but limited, perturbations in velocity direction, we can achieve a combination of stochastic and deterministic outputs. In addition to this new model, we look at the behaviors shown in older models including, but not limited to polarization, diffusion, rotational inertia, distribution of insects, etc. Furthermore, we examine how the use of random number generators …

This project looks at food insecurity—when people don’t have enough reliable access to food and how it affects college students. Many students struggle to afford enough to eat while also paying for school and living costs. By with the Linfield Food Pantry, I saw how important these services are in helping students meet their basic needs. This presentation shares what I learned from working at the pantry, talks about why food insecurity is a growing issue on college campuses, and shows how student run programs can make a real difference. This internship opportunity allowed me to observe and participate in the day to day operations of a high school athletic trainer. This included teamwork and communication between our principal, athletic director, coaches, and student athletes, as well as being given the opportunity to refine my hard skills such as taping techniques and special tests evaluations. I was also given some freedom to take risks when assessing athletic injuries and using rehab modalities to get athletes ready to return to their sport. This paper reviews different control methods used in wind energy systems to improve how they work and connect to the power grid. It covers simple control methods like Proportional-Integral (PI) controllers, as well as more advanced ones like Sliding Mode Control and intelligent controls such as fuzzy logic and neural networks. The strengths and weaknesses of each method are discussed, focusing on how well they handle changes in wind and load, keep power quality high, and stay stable. Epilepsy is a serious neurological disorder that can significantly impact an individual's quality of life. This study proposes a novel method for the detection and mitigation of epileptic seizures through the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and a brain-computer interface (BCI) system. Statistical features were extracted from intracranial electroencephalography (IEEG) signals using a multi-resolution decomposition technique and used to train five classification algorithms: support vector machines (SVM), k-nearest neighbors (KNN), Naïve Bayes (NB), artificial neural networks (ANN), and long short-term memory (LSTM). This research examines sustainability solutions in Egyptian educational institutions, concentrating on the design, building, and operating stages. The study combines quantitative and qualitative assessments from a survey of 66 industry experts, evaluating essential sustainability criteria like energy efficiency, water conservation, material sustainability, and operating expenses. Statistical methods, such as the Relative Importance Index (RII) and correlation analysis, were used to assess the relevance and interrelations among sustainability factors. The American Bar Association’s Standards for Legal Education and Admissions to the Bar require law schools to provide students with “substantial opportunities” for “[t]he development of a professional identity.” The Standards do not require a particular curriculum or mode of instruction but offer two guideposts for legal educators: one, that “professional identity focuses on what it means to be a lawyer and the special obligations lawyers have to their clients and society,” and two, that professional formation “should involve an intentional exploration of the values, guiding principles, and well-being practices considered foundational to successful legal practice.” The guidance and concomitant …

Multiple heightening crises reveal the deficiencies and contradictions of legal education, in particular the values it imparts. Perpetuating myths about U.S. democracy and rule of law, the enduring formalist, liberal legalist cast of law school is increasingly at odds with students’ lived experiences. As liberal democracy and the rule of law falter, no longer is relying on the “hidden curriculum” or the historically nebulous and mythical narratives of the law and our legal system sufficient to prepare tomorrow’s lawyers for the challenges faced by our profession. The role that a prosecutor and attorneys have in the courtroom is vital in shaping the composition of a jury in any court case. Prosecutors and attorneys employ strategies during the Voir Dire process to maximize their chances of securing favorable outcomes. On July 1st of 2024, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the president of the United States is entitled to varying degrees of immunity for his official acts. This decision sent criminal lawsuits filed against President Donald Trump back to lower courts, nullifying many of the arguments and evidence used against the president for his interference in the 2020 election. The U.S. Supreme Court held that absolute immunity protects the president’s exercise of “core constitutional powers,” while presumptive immunity protects all other official acts within the “outer periphery” of his executive office. Since 1870, the struggle for voting accessibility has been an ongoing challenge for marginalized communities in the United States. Despite the Voting Rights Act of 1965, systemic barriers limit minority participation in elections and influence their political representation. Modern systemic barriers refer to institutional practices and policies that hinder equal access to resources, rights, and opportunities. These barriers typically disproportionately impact minority groups.
