Purpose: Young and middle-aged women engage in distinct occupations, facing unique post-stroke challenges that complicate their recovery. However, little is known about their experiences with occupational engagement following a stroke. This qualitative systematic review aimed to explore the post-stroke experiences of women aged 18–65 from an occupational perspective of health. Methods: A comprehensive search of five databases identified qualitative studies on post-stroke experiences of women aged 18–65. Two reviewers independently appraised the methodological quality of eligible studies. Data were extracted and synthesised using the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) method of meta-aggregation. The Internet of Things (IoT) aims to wirelessly connect billions of physical things to the IT infrastructure. Although there are several radio access technologies available, few of them meet the needs of Internet of Things applications, such as long range, low cost, and low energy consumption. The low data rate of low-power wide-area network (LPWAN) technologies, particularly SigFox, makes them appropriate for Internet of Things applications since the longer the radio link’s useable distance, the lower the data rate. This research includes synthesizing new bis-Schiff bases linked to“N-[(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl) methyl]-8-methyl-(E)-6-nonenamide” derivatives. This work involved ring opening of phathalic anhydride by hydroxyl groups in “N-[(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl) methyl]-8-methyl-(E)-6-nonenamide” then, they were reacted with thiourea to synthesize Schiff bases by the reaction of different aldehydes. The first step involved the condensation reaction between “N-[(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)methyl]-8-methyl-(E)-6-nonenamide” (H) and phthalic anhydride to produce(H1). In the second step, compound H1 was reacted with one mol of thiourea to produce maliamic compound (H2). In this study, a novel series of compounds, derived from the drug naproxen, was synthesized, this series includes carbamates, ureas, semicarbazides, and 1,2,4-triazole derivatives, and the synthesis was achieved through a multi-step synthetic approach. Initially, hydrazide (1) was prepared by reacting naproxen amino acid ester with hydrazine hydrate, followed by its conversion to naproxen glycine azide (2) through treatment with sodium nitrite in hydrochloric acid. Azide (2) was then subjected to thermal decomposition via Curtius rearrangement to yield isocyanate (3). Nanotechnology has significant advantages over traditional methods for degrading dyes. Plant-based nanoparticles were generated apart from other biomaterials. This work employed a green sol-gel approach to prepare titanium dioxide nanoparticles by using Petai (Parkia speciosa) peel extract. The produced TiO2 was analyzed by XRD, UV-DRS, FE-SEM, FTIR, Raman, zeta, and nanoparticle size analysis. PP-TiO2 nanoparticles having a tetragonal anatase phase, spherical, stable particles, and a small particle size (16–22 nm) were successfully produced. When exposed to UV light, the nanoparticles displayed strong photocatalytic activity, eliminating Acid Yellow 25 in less than 120 minutes. This work demonstrates …

The objective of this study is to describe surface morphology using Continuous Flow Injection Analysis CFIA, Atomic Force Microscopy AFM, and the homemade NAG-4(sources)x3 with three solar cell Analyzer NAG-4SX3-3D analyzer. Using a novel method for determining both drugs via reaction of both drugs, the study aims to determine the roughness parameters of (white precipitate of loratadine with sodium nitroprusside and yellow precipitate of cyproheptadine hydrochloride with 3,5-dinitro salicylic acid) for the AFM sample. This study examined the impact of the 2017 New Jersey regulation requiring vendors to have 1,000 square feet of retail space in order to participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) food program. Specifically, it examined vendors' role in developing the policy and their perspectives on its implementation. Previous research indicated improved policy outcomes by including policy targets in policy dialogue, but there was a lack of research exploring the experiences of vendors. Guillan-Barré syndrome (GBS) is an autoimmune-mediated process that typically causes a progressive ascending paralysis that can lead to persistence of symptoms, permanent paralysis, and even death. While most cases follow a classical course with gradual progression of symptoms until eventual plateau, atypical and rapid onset clinical presentations can complicate differential diagnosis and diagnostic certainty, leading to late diagnosis by clinicians. Physical Activity (PA) and health science researchers often face challenges related to sample size, which can impact the reliability and generalizability of study findings. The purpose of the current paper is to address these issues by discussing key statistical concepts: effect size and Type I and Type II errors, with a specific focus on examining statistical power and sample size using studies from the Disability and Health Journal (DHJ). We examined research articles published in DHJ over a 15-year period (2008–2022), covering 62 issues and analyzing a total of 1,177 articles. Our analysis revealed that the median sample sizes …

This Article examines the dismantlement, removal, and restoration requirements associated with the Trans-Alaska Pipeline System (TAPS). These decommissioning obligations, rooted in the right-of-way lease agreements between state and federal agencies and the pipeline owners, require the lessees to remove pipeline infrastructure and restore Alaskan lands at the end of the pipeline’s useful life. Yet the regulatory structures governing TAPS decommissioning are deficient in several respects. Regulators have failed to safeguard decommissioning collections using a designated fund or a comprehensive liability regime. An opaque and overly permissive approach to transfers of ownership between the TAPS carriers has substituted private agreements for …

This Note calls on the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) to issue guidance clarifying that concurrent decommissioning is an in-scope “connected action” under the National Environmental Policy Act for relocation, managed retreat, and protect-in-place projects aimed at replacing infrastructure in environmentally threatened Alaska Native communities. In 2018, the Denali Commission completed the Final Environmental Impact Statement for Alaska’s first community-driven village relocation of the millennium, facilitating construction of essential infrastructure at Mertarvik, the relocation site for the village of Newtok. Alaska is navigating a transformative phase in its regulatory approach to virtual currency transmission, driven by the rapid growth of the fintech industry and the unique economic and geographic challenges faced by its residents. As the number of virtual currency transactions in Alaska has surged dramatically over recent years, the State’s existing money transmission framework—rooted in laws designed before the rise of cryptocurrencies and internet-based financial services—has proven insufficient to address this evolving landscape.

In 2023, the United States Supreme Court decided Sackett v. Environmental Protection Agency, which effectively restricted the United States Army Corps of Engineers’ (“USACE”) and the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) ability to regulate development of wetlands. The State of Alaska submitted an amicus brief to the Court on behalf of the petitioners, the Sackett family. In the wake of the decision, Governor Dunleavy praised the decision by the Court, emphasizing that the decision provided the state more autonomy over its own wetlands. Complementarities In High School And College Investments, John Eric Humphries, Juanna Schrøter Joensen, Gregory Veramendi

This paper examines how high school specialization shapes college investment decisions and their subsequent returns through dynamic complementarities. Using Swedish administrative data, we estimate a dynamic Roy model that accounts for selection on multidimensional skills, family background, prior investments, and unobserved heterogeneity. We identify the model using rich skill measures and quasi-experimental variation in program popularity. For marginal students, STEM specialization in high school increases wages by 9%, with more than half this return attributed to dynamic complementarities that enhance the productivity of subsequent college investments. The importance of understanding why individuals decided to engage in mental health care cannot be overstated. This importance is further highlighted in the need to examine the different factors that may help researchers and clinicians to obtain more insight into why populations with a higher demand for mental health services, such as Asian Americans, possess negative attitudes toward seeking mental health care. BACKGROUND: Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) is a comprehensive secondary cardiovascular disease program with structured lifestyle interventions to reduce morbidity and mortality. The American Heart Association cardiovascular health (CVH) framework measures health-promoting behaviors and clinical factors, but it has not been rigorously evaluated in the CR setting.

METHODS: This retrospective cohort study analyzed patients attending CR from January 2018 to September 2020. Patients were evaluated at baseline (pre-CR) and completion (post-CR) using 3 clinical factors (blood pressure, cholesterol, and hemoglobin A1c) and 4 health behaviors (smoking, body mass index, physical activity, and diet). Context: The natural history and malignant potential of cases classified as atypical adrenal masses (AAMs) are unknown.

Objective: To describe the radiological characteristics and clinical outcomes of AAMs.

Design and participants: A multicenter retrospective study. Patients ≥18 years old with AAMs [diameter of 10-39 mm on first imaging study and pre-contrast attenuation of >10 Hounsfield units (HU) on computed tomography] were studied. We excluded adrenal metastasis, pheochromocytoma, sarcoma, lymphoma, infiltrative lesions, and adrenal hemorrhage, as well as patients with genetic predisposition to adrenal neoplasms. Human norovirus is the leading cause of viral gastroenteritis across all age groups. While there is a need for human norovirus antivirals, therapeutic development has been hindered by a lack of cell culture systems and animal models of infection. Surrogate viruses, such as Tulane virus (TV), have provided tractable systems to screen potential antiviral compounds. Our previous work demonstrated that TV encodes a viral ion channel, which dysregulates cytosolic calcium signaling. We set out to investigate whether host pathways triggered by viral ion channel activity, including store-operated calcium entry (SOCE), play a role in virus replication. Proteogenomic analysis is applied to samples from the CALGB 40601 (Alliance) randomized neoadjuvant trial of trastuzumab, lapatinib, or the combination to identify biomarkers associated with pathological response status. Absence of ERBB2 gene amplification and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) protein overexpression by proteogenomics is associated with non-pathological compete response (pCR) (p < 0.05), highlighting potential false positives from standard diagnostics. Pathway analysis in proteogenomics-confirmed HER2+ samples identifies elevated epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT) and WNT-β-catenin signaling in non-pCR cases before treatment. Twenty-four pCR-associated proteins reproduce in a second proteomic dataset, and four (GPRC5A, TPBG, SP140L, and NEU1) are significant in a third. A meta-analysis of ten diverse neoadjuvant anti-HER2 treatment regimens from four independent studies confirms that non-pCR cases express higher levels of mRNA for G protein-coupled receptor class C group 5 member A (GPRC5A, p = 0.0002) and trophoblast glycoprotein (TPBG, p = 0.00008). Thus, proteogenomic analysis identifies negative biomarkers for pCR and alternative plasma membrane targets for treatment-resistant HER2+ breast cancer.
