Deep learning (DL) systems have been widely utilized across various domains. However, the evolution of DL systems can result in regression faults. In addition to the evolution of DL systems through the incorporation of new data, feature evolution, such as the addition of new features, is also common and can introduce regression faults. In this work, we first investigate the underlying factors that are correlated with regression faults in feature evolution scenarios, i.e., redundancy and contribution shift. Large Language Models (LLMs) are vulnerable to backdoor attacks that manipulate outputs via hidden triggers. Existing defense methods—designed for vision/text classification tasks—fail for text generation. We propose Internal Consistency Regularization (CROW), a defense leveraging the observation that backdoored models exhibit unstable layer-wise hidden representations when triggered, while clean models show smooth transitions. CROW enforces consistency across layers via adversarial perturbations and regularization during finetuning, neutralizing backdoors without requiring clean reference models or trigger knowledge—only a small clean dataset. Experiments across Llama-2 (7B, 13B), CodeLlama (7B, 13B), and Mistral-7B demonstrate CROW’s effectiveness: it achieves significant reductions in attack success rates across …

Cross-gender expression in this context is not about failing to conform to traditional gender roles, but rather represents openness, flexibility, and a form of modern cultural embodiment. This study aims to explore and describe the functions of batik for cross-gender instructors at the Kinanthi Sekar Dance Center. How do advanced technology adoption and venture capital (VC) funding impact employment and growth? An analysis of data from the US Census Bureau suggests that while both advanced technology use and VC funding matter on their own for firm outcomes, their joint presence is most strongly correlated with higher employment levels. VC presence is linked with a high increase in employment, though primarily among a limited subset of firms. In contrast, technology adoption is associated with a smaller rise in employment, yet it influences a considerably larger number of firms. A model of startups is created, focusing on decisions to …

In this paper we study the neoclassical growth model with idiosyncratic income risk and aggregate risk in which risk sharing is endogenously constrained by one sided limited commitment. Households can trade a full set of contingent claims that pay off depending on both idiosyncratic and aggregate risk, but limited commitment rules out that households sell these assets short. The model results, under suitable restrictions of the parameters of the model, in partial consumption insurance in equilibrium. With log-utility and idiosyncratic income shocks taking two values one of which is zero (e.g., employment and unemployment) we show that the equilibrium can …

How much do contracting frictions between global firms and their suppliers impact country welfare and trade? We answer this by developing a model of global sourcing under partial contractibility, where firm-supplier relationships are exposed to a bilateral holdup problem. Sourcing decisions aggregate into a gravity equation for trade flows by organizational mode (intrafirm vs. arm’s length), which we take to structural estimation. We can then evaluate welfare changes with an extended Arkolakis, Costinot and Rodriguez-Clare (2012) formula that incorporates these contracting frictions. Our counterfactual analysis reveals a sizeable average country welfare gain of 9.2% from eliminating contracting frictions in global …

This review examines Kalpana Kannabiran and Devi Jagani’s reimagination of dignity as a framework for securing justice in gendered labourscapes. By centering a broad and dynamic understanding of dignity as a right, an inherent characteristic, and an enabling condition for rights-talk, the book advances new ways of articulating rights-claims through an intersectional and interdisciplinary reading of the Indian Constitution. The review highlights the significance of this approach in renewing understandings of the worker, labour, discrimination, and rights, while exploring its possibilities and limits in confronting violence and injustices embedded in gendered labour relations within the domestic sphere and beyond.

Objective: Macrophage accumulation in metabolically active tissues during obesity is common in both animals and humans, but the lipid signaling mechanisms that trigger macrophage inflammation remain unclear. This study investigates the role of Ces1d, an unconventional lipase, in regulating macrophage inflammation under nutritional stress.

Methods: A myeloid-specific Ces1d knockout (LysM-Cre-Ces1d floxed/floxed, KO) mouse model was used for the studies. For in vitro tests, bone marrow-derived macrophages (BMDMs) from control (Ces1d floxed/floxed, WT) and KO mice were assessed for migration, polarization, and activation. Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the effect of incremental fasting time on the gastrointestinal tract in chickens. Adult White Leghorn roosters with intact ceca were provided a nutrient-adequate corn-soybean meal diet ad libitum for 3 weeks. Prior to initiation of the experimental phase, ad libitum feed intake was recorded for 8 h and immediately after the fasting period commenced. In Experiment 1, roosters were fasted for either 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 16, or 24 h. Malheur National Wildlife Refuge (NWR), located in southeastern Oregon, is part of the National Wildlife Refuge System (NWRS) of the United States. Currently, NWRS includes more than 568 NWRs, 38 Wetland Management Districts, and 5 Marine National Monuments. Malheur NWR, like a majority of the refuges in the NWRS, was established for the conservation of migratory birds. Many of these NWRs also provide significant habitat for mammals. Malheur NWR, one of the oldest (established 1908) and largest refuges in the system, is one of those with significant habitat for mammals. When Alice Paul drafted the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) in 1923, she had hoped it would become a unifying document for women across America. However, forty-nine years later, when Congress passed the amendment, radical feminists led the charge for its ratification. Paul, a prominent feminist, feared that the amendment became so politicized it was tearing apart the women’s movement. Dianne Fife Kay, an anti-ERA activist, described the period as a time in which “the enemy was no longer men, but our own sisters.” As Paul had feared, radical feminism had ruptured the sisterhood that first-wave feminism created.

The growing demand for schools to support student mental health has increased the adoption of social-emotional learning (SEL) programs. However, inconsistent implementation and limited research on different populations have raised concerns about their overall effectiveness. This inquiry-based study explored how the CharacterStrong SEL curriculum impacted student behavior and how teachers perceived its effectiveness in a 5th and 6th grade intermediate school. Using teacher surveys, Tier 2 behavior data, and an administrator interview, the study examined the fidelity of implementation, teacher confidence, and observed behavioral changes.
