Spatial variability and uncertainty associated with grades and rock types significantly impact mineral resource estimation and reserve determination. Conventional approaches generally simulate grades within deterministic geological domains, which may inadequately capture uncertainty and the gradual transition of grades across lithological contacts. Although joint simulation of categorical and continuous variables improves geological realism and uncertainty characterization, reserve estimation is still commonly performed using deterministic ultimate pit optimization methods that do not explicitly propagate geological uncertainty into mine planning decisions. We present a novel approach for the vapochromic and luminescent detection of phenols through surface co-crystallization with single crystals of 9,10-bis(()-2-(pyridin-4-yl)vinyl)anthracene BP4VA. Upon exposure to 2,4,6-trifluorophenol (2,4,6-TFP), 3,4,5-trifluorophenol (3,4,5-TFP), and phenol (PhOH) vapor, BP4VA crystals exhibit significant changes in color and fluorescence intensity, offering a sensitive detection method. Detailed structural insights into intermolecular interactions are obtained from single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction, as well as FT-IR and H NMR spectroscopies. Scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy demonstrate the reversibility of these changes, with crystal morphology and surface composition nearly returning to near-pristine single crystals of BP4VA after annealing. …

In the late 1960s, police began to unionize. Today, they are the most well-organized labor force in the United States, with 70% to 80% of sworn officers now represented by a union. Though it has been decades, little scholarship has developed about how police unions affect policing. Much of the research that does exist uses race-neutral frames to address an organization steeped in racial history. This study aims to address this gap in scholarship, in part, by introducing race as a motivation for and explanation of organizational output.

Primary healthcare facilities, partic-ularly community health centers, play a critical role in climate change mitigation and adaptation through environmentally sustainable practices. This study aimed to assess the level of green competency of Puskesmas staff and analyze relationship in the green behavior. In times of war, people of faith often rally behind leaders and policies that diverge from the values upheld by their religious institutions. In fact, in many such cases, religious affiliation and church attendance are among the strongest predictors of support for these political actors.

This study explored the relationships between 2D:4D ratio, a biological marker influenced by prenatal androgen exposure, and personality traits among members of the BDSM community. The 2D:4D ratio, calculated by dividing the length of the second (index) finger by the length of the fourth (ring) finger, is a non-invasive measure of prenatal exposure to androgens, with a smaller 2D:4D ratio associated with higher levels of testosterone exposure. Previous, albeit conflicting, research suggests that higher levels of testosterone are associated with dominance, aggression, risk-taking, and sensation-seeking. The present study draws on these findings to propose an androgenization of power play roles. …

STUDY DESIGN: Retrospective cohort study.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate radiographic durability and clinical outcomes following placement of a novel expandable interlaminar stabilization device for single-level lumbar spinal stenosis. Specifically, we aimed to: 1) quantify immediate postoperative posterior column distraction; 2) determine whether foraminal expansion is improved postoperatively without radiographic subsidence; and (3) assess potential improvements in patient-reported pain/clinical outcomes.

The following experiment tested the use of specifically designed posters to see the effect on eating habits of those who ate entrées from WMU’s food counter called Classics in the Student Dining Center. The independent variable was a poster with humorous and factual elements displayed at the point of choice in the dining center. Fusobacterium nucleatum is one of the key bacteria in the oral microbiota, which plays a key role in the structural integrity of dental plaque, an anaerobic bacterium. Emerging clinical evidence has increasingly linked this opportunistic pathogen to severe systemic pathologies, notably colorectal cancer and adverse pregnancy outcomes. This paper presents the development of a multi-domain simulation for the Porsche Taycan’s all-wheel-drive (AWD) electric propulsion system to investigate the impact of the rear drive unit’s two-speed transmission on performance and drive quality during maximum acceleration. This study was undertaken independent of the vehicle and propulsion system OEM. A lumped-parameter model of the front and rear electric drive units (EDU) and the high-voltage battery was developed and calibrated against the published data for key benchmarks, including 0–100 kph acceleration times and peak longitudinal acceleration. Moralistic responses to Swift’s honest songwriting are misguided. Swift’s songwriting is morally similar to poetry and literary autofiction. As long as the artist’s work is honest and not defamatory, the artist’s interest in self-understanding and entitlement to self-expression is a sufficient defense for the art. The argument has three parts. The first part establishes that honest songwriting about someone is an act of love, even when it’s unflattering to the person who is mentioned in the song. The Self-Aware Room (SAR) is a room-scale research environment developed within the larger Balanced Blended Space and Blended Reality Performance System research trajectory. Rather than treating the room as a conventional “smart” environment composed of fixed automation technologies, SAR approaches it as an evolvable blended environment made from physical, virtual, conceptual, sensory, computational, and performative relationships. Its defining feature is not any particular sensor, model, or output device, but the set of transformations through which physical activity becomes structured observation, bounded representation, interpreted state, governed decision, and mediated response.

The present study examined 35 different sites’ IAQ at Abu Dhabi University, United Arab Emirates (UAE), in January-February 2024 comparing the observations with 2024 IAQ Guideline in Dubai Municipality (DM-HSD-GU119-IAQ). OBJECTIVES: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a complex, progressive neurodegenerative autoimmune disease and a major cause of neurological disability worldwide. MS affects approximately 2.8-3 million people, predominantly presenting as relapsing-remitting MS (RRMS) that frequently converts to secondary progressive disease, while effective options for progressive phenotypes remain limited.

METHODS: This review reframes MS immunotherapy through a tolerance-centric paradigm, distinguishing continuous maintenance disease-modifying therapies (DMTs) from immune reconstitution therapies (IRTs) and emerging antigen-specific tolerance strategies.

RESULTS: Classical immune reconstitution therapies, including alemtuzumab, cladribine, and autologous hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (aHSCT), have demonstrated durable disease control and prolonged periods of no evidence of disease …

Trapped In Transition: Structural Change And Political Dynamics In Middle-Income Countries, Gabriel Duvidovich

The middle-income trap literature has examined why relatively few middle-income countries transition to high-income status. A range of explanations has been proposed, but the political dimension has often been overlooked. Studies that take a political perspective often focus on institutional form rather than the state’s ability to effectively implement policy. This study addresses this gap by bringing political capacity to the center of the analysis. It argues that political capacity appears important for the productive upgrading required for sustained growth in middle-income economies and shapes economic growth trajectories across countries at different income levels.
